Hiro Mashima's reply to my giftSome of you already noticed it but yeah yesterday I sent the gift to Hiro Mashima's twitter page, I finally had the courage to do such thing also because of all your support! I really appreciated it!
Yesterday when I was at work I asked my friend to translate a short message for him and just after few minutes later, Mashima sensei kindly replied to my Twit! I still can't believe it!! It's such an honor to receive a comment from a famous mangaka!! Words can't describe what I'm feeling right now!
Here's the message I left him, he didn't retwitt it:

Stone statures of guardian lions have spread to huge areas on Eurasia Continent. They spread to the East and arrived at Japan, spread to the West and arrived at Europe. Origin of lion statures is ancient Orient. The flow to the East went to South-East Asia and East Asia via India.
Lion's statures were introduced to South-East Asia (Cambodia, Thailand and so on) with Sthaviravada Buddhism, to East Asia (China, Okinawa, Japan and so on) with Mahayana Buddhism. Therefore Chinese and Japanese statures are quite different figure from Thai and Cambodian statures.
The most eastern habitat of lions was India in the Ancient Times. Needless to say, Chinese people didn't know a lion's correct figure. In addition to it, they were very creative people about fantast

China trip post (photo heavy)Mm I don't know how to go about this in an organized manner, so this will just be a stream of photos with my intermittent narration.China trip post (photo heavy)3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Our trip was Shanghai > Hangzhou > Nanjing > Suzhou > Wuxi > back to Shanghai. Then we went to Hong Kong on our own.
Oh yeah, first, since I have no photos of these (for good reason): THE SQUAT TOILETS. They suck. They stink. You can always tell if there's a bathroom nearby by the smell in the air! Half the time the flush doesn't even work. All the used toilet paper is tossed in a bin, so the smell just lingers and lingers. For some reason, sometimes they sell food right outside the bathrooms. LIKE WHY?! I don't know how anybody can think about eating with that smell there.
I drank as little as possible. Between my sis and I, we also brought 5-6 rolls of toilet paper, so it was more than enough. (We left the extra rolls at Grandma's in HK afterwards haha.)
Anyhoo, onto pictures...
From our place to China was a 12 hour flight, 4 hour break at airport, then
PE Daily Deviations- Presentation of your workHello all!PE Daily Deviations- Presentation of your work3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Well we’ve had a fascinating week so far; a week which hopefully has provided some insight not only to the process of DD selection but helped you understand what we look for in DDs as CVs. As we draw to the end of this week, I bring you an article which will whet your Saturday with thoughts that don’t just apply to the DD feature, but something which should be a consideration to everything you submit to dA. I am talking about deviation presentation.
Why is Presentation important?
Art isn’t always about just being “creative”. There are techniques and skills which develop over time which contribute to the quality of the work you produce and alongside this comes a developed understanding of good presentation.
Good presentation could be anything from cropping a photograph, to spell checking your literature. These are common sense things that in the rush of wanting to show off your creativity can sometimes be

Practical Strategies: How to be more popular in dAThank you all for always participating in my polls/surveys, and sorry that I can't reply to every comment personally, but they are indeed helpful and interesting, each comment has brought me new ideas and inspiration, so here, I have some strategies to share with you, content based on the results of my latest poll. http://kelly1412.deviantart.com/journal/poll/2995299/Practical Strategies: How to be more popular in dA3 years ago in Personal More Like This
It is true that your artwork is the key to all the attention you receive. However, there are still some strategies that could help you get more attention, in terms of comments, self-achievement, favorites and watchers. In this journey I'll share with you some strategies that I've discovered through my own personal analysis and observation.
(they've all been tested, but no guarantee if it will work for everyone.)
And it will not directly make your art better, only you have that ability within yourself!

I quit my job.I had to. Being stuck in retail hell for years was getting to me. There's only so many times you can deal with disrespectful self-entitled customers daily, especially when you have personal goals and aspirations that have nothing to do with retail or the success of the business you're working so hard for. (with little acknowledgement.) It's not that I never put my heart into my job -- I even made some great friends there. It's just, when you see so many of your other friends, even family members doing seriously cool things with their talents... it eats at you like you're staring at your own death-clock.I quit my job.3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I haven't been one to take risks in the past, so the thought of cutting off my only source of income wasn't exactly on the forefront of my thoughts. But, I was given an opportunity with a soon-to-be startup studio that a bunch of friends of mine are already apart of. I came on board this project earlier this year, but only slightly part-time. On my days off from my retail job, I would p

Recently at deviantART, we tried out a small-scale collaborative program, bringing in outside artists to illustrate pieces for the seasonal clothing line. For the piece ALL dAY EVERY dAY, I’m proud to introduce Tony Van Groningen, or tonybricker here on dA. It’s always a pleasure to hand an artistic brief off to an artist and have them come back with an exciting piece that can go a few rounds in collaborative sessions to make final. Working collaboratively brings multiple viewpoints to the drawing board and adds a great deal of richness to successful pieces.

Leonardo da Vinci's Anatomical DrawingsIf getting your gear together and heading out for an evening of life drawing sounds like more trouble than it's worth, consider what Leonardo da Vinci endured for the sake of educating his own singular vision.Leonardo da Vinci's Anatomical Drawings3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Rumors of da Vinci resorting to grave robbery persist to this day, but the truth is that he was allowed to dissect and study corpses at the Hospital of Santa Maria Nuova in Florence.
Leonardo da Vinci's studies of the human skull in 1489 borrowed three-dimensional drawing techniques from architecture that had never been seen applied to anatomical studies before. A new technical vocabulary for anatomical drawings was created and da Vinci's sketches in plan, section, elevation, and perspective marked a massive progression in how the body was documented.
Criticized for his undertaking, Leonardo passionately defended the purpos

NaruSakuHas it really been 2 months since my last journal? ^^'NaruSaku3 years ago in Personal More Like This
As many of you probably saw, a lot of people are hurt over NaruSaku from the last chapter. All I have to say is that this feels too soon for any pairing to become canon. We still have a year and a half before the manga ends and every time Kishimoto brings more into a character, they die. Asuma and Kurenai, Jiraiya and Tsunade and then we also lost Neji when he was getting the spotlight. Does this mean Hinata will die? No. I am not Kishimoto. I don't know his plans. All I am saying is that this could end badly for Hinata. After all, she is right next to Naruto on the front lines. Obito wants Naruto to suffer and with that combined is making Hinata a big target at the moment. I still ship NaruSaku. It is still my current love but am I against NaruHina? No. I don't like the pairing but I am not opposed to Kishimoto doing what he wants. I loved NaruSaku when it wasn't canon and will continue.
I am not going to say NaruSaku will be cano

10 Things to Do on International Tiger Day!I just wanted to stop by to wish everyone a very happy International Tiger Day!10 Things to Do on International Tiger Day!3 years ago in Personal More Like This
International Tiger Day was declared in 2010 at the St. Petersberg Tiger Summit. What can you do to celebrate, you ask? Well you could:
1) Watch a cool tiger documentary, like this one and this one!
2) Get informed on tiger conservation issues. There are an estimated 3,200 tigers remaining in the wild, but why? Go to a local book store or library and check out a book on tigers. I'd recommend "Tigers of the World" by Valmik Thapar or "Life of Pi" by Yann Martel. Do a Google search on tigers...there is plenty of information out there, all you have to do is go looking! Spread awareness here on dA and elsewhere!
3) Plan a fundraiser at your local school or place of work to raise money!
4) Do some volunteer work at your local zoo or exotic animal rescue (be sure they're legitimate though). Ask the zo
On Graduating-Hey guys, I know for a lot of you graduation is coming up super fast, and it seems completely absurd that it's been almost a year ago since I was in that boat. I well remember the two options presented to me:On Graduating-4 years ago in Personal More Like This
1) Get a studio job. Preferably close to home.
2) Move back in with my parents. Possibly get a day job or something.
I just wanted to remind ...whoever is reading this... that there are about a gazillion alternatives. In fact, any possible train of actions you can conceive of is an option. It's hard to think of options not presented to you as options, but you really can go anywhere and do anything. This is the only time in our lives when we don't have any greater obligations- we don't have a wife and kids to provide for, no company that would collapse without us, our bodies can handle sleeping on a springy old couch for a while. This is EXACTLY when you should take a gigantic risk because the only thing y

As much as I don't want to address this, I want to to let people know why I do these things. This is kind of like a "snitches-get-stitches" kind of post, isn't it? I don't really have much to say since I already said a load of it when I made these posts but to people who think I want to sick my watchers etc on people it's not true. And remember as ruthless as the internet to these kind of things, they are also VERY forgiving. The Kidchan scenerio for example resolved itself nicely when Kidchan made a formal apology and properly addressed the situation. I ha

Ohooo, I celebrated my graduation ceremony with like billions of calories!
It was the first time I had sushi (but I am a bit suspicious if the sushi was a proper version, because apart of tuna or salmon, there were also pieces which included pieces of... a duck ), then we had some cake, Latte and finally that pizza. Yummmmm.
I am awfully back to healthy regime now, nah, I would so have something unhealthy
The graduation ceremony was... a bit boring. I loved the previous ones better (lol, this one was my the third), because they were somehow nicely confused, the guests applauded although they were not supposed to do so... Funny but this time it was very official, the speech of our new dean was also somehow official (I sooo loved the previous dean! Fortunately he was present on Friday too, having a speech, but shorter). And guests seemed to be bored, like somebody forced them to sit there :/
But it was not bad, simply a nice way how to say "goodbye" to my alma mater.
