1. Why did you become a member of deviantART?
I became a member of Deviantart after my girlfriend told me that I should put my artworks up 'somewhere'. Before that I usually just draw in my notebooks and sometimes even homeworks. So I gave it a go, and realised that a lot of people appreciate my artworks, so through people's encouragement I decided to continue being here on Deviantart.
2. Of the 4 years you've been here, what is your biggest (and proudest) accomplishment here on deviantART? Like a time when you felt like you were right on top of the world
My proudest moment might've been my first ever Daily Deviation. But being me I was so unaware of what's on Deviantart except for uploading artworks that I didn't even know what a Daily Deviation was...
3. What does "Fan Art" mean to YOU?
Fan Art is a way of expressing your love for

First off, we're doing it again! We're bringing back the 1/50 for 150 raffle!
All you have to do is +Fav this journal to put yourself in the running to win 150 dA points. There will be multiple names drawn in this raffle; one for every fifty people who participate. So you have, at minimum, a 1/50 chance of scoring some major pointage!
The raffle caps at 400 +Fav's, so we'll have a maximum of 8 winners. Only the first 400 will be eligible to win, so you gotta be quick. Prizes will only be given to accounts created previous to the start of this contest. Sorry newbies, gotta keep things legit.
The names will be drawn on February 12th. Best of luck, folks!
Secondly, donations are now OPEN at :iconcmc-donations:. All donors will not only get that warm fluffy feeling of inner-peace, but they'll be judiciously thanked an
Sins of an ArtistI've been under fire recently for having the audacity to admit publicly that improving my art has never been, and never was, an ultimate goal of mine. Apparently that's like committing some sort of mortal sin in the art community. I've had trouble expressing myself about it too, because brushing off improvement for improvement sake makes me look like I'm uncaring, egocentric, and stubborn. But after a recent post I was given much more clarity in understanding the issue and I wanted to share my thoughts with you.Sins of an Artist3 years ago in Personal More Like This
In the recent exchange I was basically told this: "If doing what you love isn't about dedicating your life to improving your art, you aren't an artist."
Maybe I'm old fashioned, but making art has never been solely about the technical expertise. Even in college, outside the handful of foundation courses you take in freshman year, perfection of the craft is often secondary to concepts and ideas and your ability to evoke feelings and emotions in your audience.
Tracing gets you nowhere.I remember when I was a kid, I'd record Saturday morning cartoons, play them back, pause the image, put a piece of paper over the screen and trace my favourite characters.Tracing gets you nowhere.10 months ago in Personal More Like This
Now this was really hard in the VHS era, because a paused image on a VHS is usually either broken up or shakes so much that you’ll have some kind of fit if you look at it too long, it depended on how cheap and sh*tty your machine was.
But I worked really hard at it, man. I spent ages getting the linework just right, I was so careful, and when I peeled the page from the static cling of the bulbous, cathode ray tube screen, the character looked exactly right on the page. And you wanna know what I took away from that endeavour? What all that effort taught me?
Jack f**king sh*t.
You don’t pick up or develop any skills by tracing. You don’t devise and perfect your own methods by tracing. You do not progress as an artist by tracing. All you get is a loss of credibility, especially in this day and age, bec

SAY HELLO TO YOUR THIRD UNCLE'S WIFE'S MOTHER'S BROTHER'S SON'S STEP SISTER'S CAT'S COUSIN'S FATHER'S OWNER'S DAUGHTER'S SECOND BROTHER: Thats me in the middle (Not really) reading a book with a lot of relatives looking at me with their creepy faces. The thing is that all of those uncles has different unique titles, like 2nd uncle, 3rd uncle, 4th uncle. Then it can get more complicated like 2nd uncle's son, 3rd uncle's daughter. Then it can get even more complicated when you have to remember the title for relatives like your uncle's son's wife's mother's brother! And trust me even a complicated link like that has a unique title in chinese, and I am supposed to remember the title... Oh by the way as a duty from the youngest person in the family
