Trying to figure out what to give your mom for Mother's Day? Get her a mind-controlling interstellar starfish! That's right, Starro the Conqueror needs a host and who better than your mom who's been on your back about that dirty room!
I created Starro out of a pair of large sterling silver starfish earrings, drilling out the center and inserting a clear optical bead with the inside hole painted black. This way the eye 'follows' you around as you look at it! The eyelids were other parts of sterling silver that were carved, buffed, and soldered on. A little bit of black detailing later and Starro the Conqueror was ready! Happy Mother's day Mom, heheheh...
Athena, also known as Minerva to the Romans, is the warrior Goddess of wisdom and arts, and the owl is her sacred animal. Howlite is used to encourage motivation, improve patience, and relieve anxiety/tension. Howlite in general is used for calming the mind, allowing you to think more rationally which is an aspect of Athena.
Solomon Grundy is one of the most powerful characters in all of DC with a might that has rivaled Superman's at times and a physique on par with Marvel's Hulk. That's probably why I chose the Marvel Select Hulk as the body base. Grundy's head came from a Gamma Strike Hulk with Aves Fixit Sculpted hair and chin, and the jacket from a 12" RoC Cobra Commander tailored to fit then tattered. Grundy's boots were sculpted over the feet using Aves Apoxie sculpt with real laces and he was given a rope belt. Various shades of grey were used for his flesh and a mucky wash detailing covers makes it appear he has just walked from the swamp. He follows the same BAF style as my Clayface for a larger DC Universe figure.
Here's my 6 inch custom Marvel Legends style Inspector Gadget figure. I'll have a full strip uploaded soon and you'll be able to see all the different attachments including his radar, extendo-limbs, and gadget cannon!
He was made from a Watchemen DCD Rorschach body, figma-type character legs, DCU Question hat, custom sculpted head, and spawn Interlink fodder parts for arms. Normal arms are movie Doc Ock arms.
Shown here are the alternate arms inspired by Rubendevela's art here: That was some nice work!
I purchased the replica revolver to measure to properly pattern the holster. I wanted to have a western style holster as a regular item for sale on my retail website. This is the set I used to make a pattern from and to take pictures to list on the website. I am selling the prototype with the gun as a set now that I am finished with it.
-Western Style Quick Draw Holster- The holster is made from 5-6oz veg tan leather with a simple gear impression and finished with an antiqued brown dye. The holster is a 1 piece design that is folded over in 2 places (once along the barrel to make the holster, and once at the top, making the backing loop) like many holster design of the period. The long barrel holster design has 2 buckles and straps and comes with a leather lace which ties around the leg to keep the holster from "flopping around" while walking if desired.
-Civil War 1851 Navy Revolver Pistol Replica- The revolver is 13" overall with a 7 1/2" antique nickel silver finish barrel with engraved scroll design artwork. It has an antique brass finish frame and cylinder which are also engraved with scroll and sailing ships artwork and wood grips. This replica with working/moving mechanism was made in Spain and cannot be made to fire.
Deadpool is back in Marvel Legends form and this time I used the costume design from the Hulk vs Wolverine animated movie. (I still want to do a perfectly animated one once I find a thin enough body) This custom Deadpool figure was made using the new Black Panther body and modded head with hoodie tip, Aves Apoxie sculpt for the webgear, gloves, and cuffs, Legends Wolverine feet, and USAgent hands. He was then decked out with twin holsters, pistols, swords, a removable back sheathe, and machine guns. This Deadpool is out to capture Wolverine and nothing will stand in his way! Well...nothing except the Hulk.
