Painting is glanced, so there are a lot of shiny points on the picture. I tried to remove them with Photoshop, but was not very successful. It is really difficult to take a photo of a glanced painting.

The difference in style between the flower and insect is done on purpose. The realistic looking insect is reaching for definitely not a realistic flower. The flower middle has texture to it as well, it has a volume to it (though you cannot see on the picture). Feels spiky.
