This is probably my favorite speed painting!
I love it :)

Music was composed and used with permission from my good friend Mike Woodley (~KillingAriella). He's a fabulous musician and 3D renderer.

4x my natural speed.

Note: I know this is under the tutorial category, but I'm not sure how useful this is for learning purposes. Really, I just recorded myself drawing and sped it up. I'm not sure of a better place to categorize it. If you do however watch this and come out with a better knowledge of how to draw digitally, or learn from my technique, awesome!

Mainly for anime style art. This is the way I draw, there is plenty of room for improvement but I'm sure it will help some build their talent to a certain level. Good luck!

Hi.

This is the first tutorial I did with Muro. It goes over the basics of the tools. You'll notice this was done on a prerelease but most of the tools are the same and I'll be doing an update soon.

This is part 1 of 2

Best,
Brian Haberlin

Here is the video walkthrough of painting basic facial hair.
A little boring? Yes.
Repetitive? Hell yeah.
Hard? Not really!

Once you have all your tones/textures down, it's just a matter of going over the area again and again and building it up. One strand at a time haha.

How do you add a raster texture, to a vector and be able to create 100% vector art?

Watch this tutorial and find out.

Find this tutorial useful? Please favourite it.
Use raster textures like this on vector and want to prove to others it's 100% vector cos you followed this tutorial? Link this tutorial to your deviation.

I ran a poll today... which one of these, if any, is 100% vector?

Image One
Image Two
Both?
Neither?

Well this is to prove a point... and the point is that infact one of them is 100% vector and the other is a vector image with a raster texture on it... and you too can make a vector with a texture on it which will be 100% vector.

I used the following for this video:
(which includes stock from: [link] [link] and several of my own brushes)

Apologies for the sound quality - this is a new computer and I can't find the software I used to use.

And at the end of the tutorial, you will find the answer to the poll.

This is a recording of a commissioned promo poster I painted for an upcoming author for his novel; "Sebastian Cornwell".

It features the main two characters of the novel.

(The video starts after I had already sketched it out and placed the base colors of the guys (Sebastian's) face. I stopped and thought: "Hmm....I should probably record this one" haha)

I didn't record the entire sessions, but just the bulk of it ;) There was too much back and forth between my client and myself to keep a steady start-to-finish workflow hehe.

Photoshop CS5
15 hours or so.
Airbrush + Texture brushes.
Dodge/Burn and Sharpen/Blur for finishing touches!
