** I open a very limited amount of commissions here on dA, so as it stands you must be on my mailing list in order to be notified of my availability. I will not be making huge public announcements on dA about my commission availability. It's just too overwhelming and unorganized. Our London deviantMEET Was Brilliant! On Saturday, June 14, 2009, deviantART held a deviantMEET at the Albert Memorial in Hyde Park. Over 350 deviants showed up to celebrate all things deviantART, setting a record for the highest attended deviantMEET in history in the process... until now.Our London deviantMEET Was Brilliant!3 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
Almost exactly three years later -- on Saturday, June 30, 2012 -- at the same location in Hyde Park, London deviants once again turned up in droves. Smashing the previous record, our London deviantMEET 2012 saw over 550 deviants throughout the day.
Most deviantMEETs include a group photo, usually taken towards the end of the event's festivities. However, we wasted no time taking our group shot in front of the Albert Memorial, as we wanted to ensure we were complying with Hyde Park's rules and regulations for large gatherings. With a group this massive -- and awesome -- it's hard not to draw attention!

Watermarks and signatures are undeniably helpful when it comes to making sure that people will be able to find the original source of your art, especially when it's reposted without your knowledge. Sadly, no watermark nor signature can be safe from art thieves. But when choosing between having them and making your chances to preserve the credits versus having no trace at all - what would you pick? Here are opinions from various artists from the Traditional Art community.
I find this very helpful especially on platforms like Pinterest of Facebook, where pictures are easily shared and once they left the original source people are unable to be traced back. It sometimes drives me mad when I desperately try to find out who created a piece of beauty I see - simply to learn more about the artist or see more of him/her - and can't find out where it came from or who did it! I got jobs from art directors and publishing houses who found me this way, as a lot o

Don't Start With DigitalThere are a lot of things I love about digital painting, and I will defend it against anyone who suggests that it's "cheating" or "not real painting." However, if you are just starting to learn how to draw, I don't recommend starting with digital painting.Don't Start With Digital11 months ago in Personal More Like This
The only way to get better at drawing is to draw a lot. Artists like to say that everyone has to create 10,000 bad drawings before they can start creating good ones. While this is an oversimplification, it's also very helpful to keep in mind.
If you're just starting out, you'll probably make a lot of bad drawings and it will be frustrating, and you'll start looking for ways to avoid that frustration. This is natural, but it also leaves you vulnerable to the siren song of digital painting, which promises easy answers and quick fixes. Here's why I don't think you should leap into digital right away:
1. Learning the programs will distract you from drawing. Photoshop and Illustrator have a lot of little buttons to learn about

Benjamin Jastrow : Altruism or Self-Abnegation?An important point in the characterization of Paper Stars is that each character has one very important characteristic that defines them as a person and influences their day to day lives. Each of these traits are supposed to be both the character's greatest asset and their greatest flaw. They both build the character up and destroy their progress. And in this journal, I wannted to share with my readers an in-depth analysis of Benjamin Jastrow.Benjamin Jastrow : Altruism or Self-Abnegation?3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Easily the antithesis of Sara, Benjamin's defining characteristic is his altruism, and all of his other traits are influenced by it or are a result of it. His mild, gentle nature is centered around his carnal fear of causing others discomfort, which, in turn, becomes his own discomfort. His kindness is not limited to only those he cares for--it stretches to all those he meets, even when they are cruel to him, and he willingly shoulders the blame for any and all grievances around him. He is a human scapegoat, an alacritous martyr willing to give u

Realmente soy demasiado feliz ; w;! Mi sueño era que les gustara este cómic ya que es mi historia regalona T wT

Project: Improvement for the Better (UPDATE)September is Self-Improvement month. I thought this would be a great time to launch my project that I am calling "Improvement for the Better."Project: Improvement for the Better (UPDATE)3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
As artists, we are really self critical of our work.
I thought it would be interesting to see how much you have improved.
So, to participate in this project, you will take an old work of yours, be it on the site or not, and redo it. To submit it, you will place the two side by side, and label them Before and After. You may also say in your artist's description something like "the one on the right is before, and the one on the left is after" or something like that. Your title will be "Improvement for the Better: (how much time between the two) You will submit to a folder named Improvement for the Better in my group Proud-ToBe-Divergent You don't have to be a member there to submit. (Thank you to Cheburaskah for beta-ing that). Everyone gets one entry per person. This project will end at the end of September.

Maybe it's because I'm not a Londoner......but I love London town.Maybe it's because I'm not a Londoner...2 years ago in Personal More Like This
It's currently gorgeous here in Old Blighty. London itself is rather lovely in the sun, though commuting could take a long walk off a short pier for all I care. I love you underground, but you is so hot and stuffy and full of smells... Sun and busy-ness have addled my brain and have to keep on top of so many things (finances, travel, finding free accommodation in London for a start), but the storyboarding course is well under way and has been amazing so far. We have Frank Gladstone teaching us, and having someone with that much experience involved with our development is bloomin' marvellous. Really having a great time. I've travelled a good bit of the county attending conferences too. Attended the Children's media conference in Sheffield (which is also rather lovely. You're Peace Garden is great!) and then had to catch up with work back home in Cardiff over the weekend, so pretty exhausted.
Hopefully I can recover over the week and have some free
Why Authors Kill Off CharactersI can actually answer this question, at least for myself. Coming from the perspective of a hopefully-soon-tobe-published author, I think killing off main characters is a sign of maturity as a writer. When authors coddle their characters and give them whatever they want, the end result is often spoiled, hard-to-relate-to characters who get happy endings handed to them on a silver platter. Take Twilight, for example. In all four 400-600 page novels, not one pivotal "good" character dies. And what are we left with? Little character development, no themes or lessons to be learned, and the acute feeling that the books were more like fairytales with all the characters skipping off into the sunset hand-in-hand. Admit it: you remember a book that made you cry more than a book that made you smile. Every classic novel that has withstood the test of time features some sort of death, agony, suffering or all of the above. Suffering builds character. And sometimes, killing a character is necessary fWhy Authors Kill Off Characters3 years ago in Personal More Like This

Overlord of Lust
Key Vassal: Lazerus
The real land is actually quite barren. Within a light forest, it almost looking like one of those old villages that have been abandoned centuries ago. It is similar to the weather within a forest--- cooler within the shade of the trees. (Which is best, for the Overlord doesn't particularly like the sun or hot days despite the temperature reaching high heights in the summertime)
Though the thing that makes it special is a specific plant that grows in abundance. Shining with blue brilliance, the flower “Sommortis” emits a pollen into the air which has hallucinogenic qualities to it. Whomever inhales the pollen, is automatically shown what they want to see. (It does not show you things that are not there, just enhances what is already materialized to that person’s preferences)
