Oil paint on canvas board
Diptych, 2 5"x7" canvas boards
Three sessions
Reference: photo of Yasha, an Italian greyhound

This is a gift for a friend who moved away. Yasha is a beloved little dog she had for years. To make the painting I am referencing a photo taken when Yasha was just a couple years old. Most of the elements in the painting exist in the photo, but I have re-arranged them to create a more pleasing composition.

For the last layer, I added the tree branch shadows showing through the window, and the plant in the pot on the left. I used black paint with a very high quantity of medium so the black would be translucent, and varied the quantity of pigment to create the darker and lighter areas.

I like my Dr. Pepper. It is my morning beverage of choice to get me going in the morning. And to get enough of the sweet stuff in my dream world, I take the form of a planet so that the pull of my gravity brings me all the delicious brew that I need.

This is my submission for the Art Water Bottle.
I did the "beach" make-up myself, which took roughly an hour or two.

There's a beach on my eyes with sand, water and land surrounding it, then on my lips the sand continues with a little starfish.

progress is the greatest

drawn with HB and 3B pencils on Hahnemühle paper and lots of coffee. I really need to work on lips and hair.
don't know how long I worked on this, too long for sure.

I made the first drawing a year ago: some friends of mine were writing a novel and asked me to draw Lyra, the main character.
I don't think it's a bad drawing, but is not as realistic as I wanted to.
The girl in the new drawing has a strange expression but I like it very much.

THIS is the link to my old work.

Second submission, a portrait as promised.
Really grateful for this challenge just for the fact that it's got me drawing again. Been so busy with college this year.

Original was my first ever serious drawing done with my first ever Wacom (Bamboo). Never had a tablet before, only used pencils till then, so tried to emulate that for familiarities sake. I used to love that portrait x)

Now that I've used the tablet for so long, haven't used the pencil in ages xD

:D still a long ways to go though, but seeing improvement is always a good boost for morale ^^
Thanks for viewing!

Edit: The original pencil drawing was based off of an Ian Mccaig tutorial that i watched in college two years ago. No wonder it turned out better than most of the other stuff i did those first few months aaahahaha x)
Completely forgot about that till recently :iconbraindeadplz:
Wish i had that tutorial now for the colouring part. It was way out of my league back then, but it would have been so cool to see if i could follow along with it now.

I can hear the "I prefer the old version" comments from here!
All I know is, I don't.

Both were created with a mix of SAI and Photoshop

I wanted to try something a little more RETRO-Future inspired rather than just "In Space"...Here's my go at it. Please vote for it if you like it! I may try a couple more before the 25th. Best of luck to everyone.
