There’s something about the brilliant colors of the dying leaves of autumn that reflects the wonders and the sorrows of life. It’s as if by waking up each morning into this beautiful world of natural colors, we are being given our bittersweet reward for surviving another year on the planet. We are regaled with a brief seasonal ceremony of the turning of the leaves, nature’s gift for our eyes as a promise she will soon return after her yearly rest. And then it’s time to let winter’s grey pallor unfold over us in blankets of dark cold rain and bright brisk snows; we sleep, the autumn’s leaves having promised

Copying is NOT stealing......as long as you are fair and credit the original artist!!Copying is NOT stealing...4 months ago in Personal More Like This
Every artist once was a beginner, never forget it!
And most artists started with copying: from their favorite Mangakas or artists.
I think copying is one of the best ways to learn and to get a feeling for a certain style, because you observe and you reproduce it.
I recently saw someone who copies drawings from other dA artists. Copying itself not stealing. It's not the same like downloading and re-submitting under their names. No, it's drawn by them.
But when I told that person to credit the original artist, he or she just hid my comment.
That's coward, really. There's nothing wrong about copying, but it's wrong to deny it and to claim it as your own work. Then it's plagiarism and that's stealing! And even worse: making profit with it!
I think if you want to learn by copying, do it in your sketchbooks privately. But if you want to upload it, ask the original artists before if possible and credit them and link to the orig
Las cosas que me molestan como artistaHola guerreros de las tierras encantadas de ningún lugar.Las cosas que me molestan como artista5 months ago in Personal More Like This

My deviantART StoryIt all started a few years ago, with a single piece of art.My deviantART Story4 months ago in Art Features More Like This
I can remember having seen digital art before, but it never really impacted me. The fact that it wasn't real, on paper, and I couldn't touch it, made it somehow distant to me. Yet, for whatever reason, this piece was different to me. I can still remember staring at it from the screen of my computer, not being able to grasp how someone was able to make art that flawless, pretty and beautiful. And how a person was able to express that much emotion with just a few brush strokes. Call me stupid, or naive. But I just could "get" it.
I think it was that piece of art that gave me a reason to try. Or more, a direction that I wanted to go in.
Before that time I was like a clueless wanderer. I've been writing a story for years. But I was basically lost in a maze of what I wanted or what I could do when it came to drawing stuff. My lack of skill and fear of failure got
A Beginner's Guide to Offering Commissions OnlineI decided to write this journal because in the last month alone, I had about five young artists ask me this question in one form or another: "How should I go about offering commissions?"A Beginner's Guide to Offering Commissions Online4 months ago in Personal More Like This
This seemingly easy question can actually be quite difficult to answer. The first time I was asked this question, I expected to write only a paragraph response. I was shocked to find that once I had finished writing my response, I had been writing for almost a half hour and had written five paragraphs. Why is this not a simple question? I think the answer lies in the fact that how to offer commissions is not altogether intuitive. I know that when I began to offer commissions, I was at a complete loss. It took me a few years before I got into the swing of things. Even now I make mistakes. So, without further ado I present a beginner's guide, built on my many mistakes, many accomplishments, and 5 years of experience!
One of the first things I recommend
Encourage and support artists! :)Because it's a good feeling to know other people like our art!Encourage and support artists! :)4 months ago in Personal More Like This
There are times when artists feel unconfident about their art and some nice words can raise the motivation enormously! Let them know why you're following their gallery!^^
I don't mean toadying to them but honest compliments!
So if you have time, don't fave and run only. Leave a nice comment too!
If you see, there are great artists who are unseen, support them. You don't have to be popular yourself for it. Giving a fave is like a recommendation. Your fave collection is public, so other people can see what you like and maybe they like it too.
And every fave may increase their chance to get onto the dA frontpage.
You can try suggestion Daily Deviations!^^
I often suggest artists or friends who have great artworks but are kinda unknown.
It's such a wonderful and priceless feeling to see how happy they are if they get featured!
Here's a great guide how to suggest Daily Deviations:

Will you be my friend? The funny thing about people knowing you, is that many people want to be your friend. Will you be my friend?3 months ago in Deviant Events More Like This
"Will you be my friend?" is one those questions I get the most.
It's also one the questions I have to answer with a negative answer the most, because I don't like lying to people.
Like I've told in some of my earlier journals, my life didn't overflow with friendship nor popularity when I was younger. It was quite the contrary. I wasn't anything near popular, to the point that most people didn't even want to have anything to do with me. As the kid that got bullied, the few that dared to get close to me, more or less put their social status in the group at stake by even talking to me. And as a result, I guess I valued their friendship a lot. After all; I knew what they risked.
Coming from that sort of situation, friendship has always been a very important but at the same time mysterious matter to me. Something not be

Being happy with your artI've noticed lately, that there's this emotion that leaves people overwhelmed with the massive amount of good art in the community, thinking that they can never become as good or popular as those others. So sad, because skill or popularity in itself shouldn't be the major goal of an art community. I think many people who start out here get so overwhelmed that they forget what it's actually about.Being happy with your art6 months ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Many people out here, sign up to DeviantArt (or any internet art community) in order to publish their work on the internet. They've probably looked around for a while already. They saw those amazing artists that had millions of pageviews, and secretly hoped that by putting their art on the internet, they would be able to do the same. To become madly popular -- a community icon.
Well, sorry to burst your bubble; but it's probably not gonna happen. And if it's gonna happen; it's not going to be soon.
According to DeviantArt, the website has over 31 million
Do's and don'ts for flawless interactionNot much to say about this.Do's and don'ts for flawless interaction4 months ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Just some basic tips and tricks for flawless interaction on DeviantArt
Watch people when you honestly find them interesting.
Watch your friends, even if they don't have amazing art. It helps you stay updated with their progress.
Watch groups. They'll offer you a fine selection of art you're interested in, and will help you discover new (interesting) artists.
Check the faves of people you watch. As you like their work, you might have similar tastes in art. Checking their faves might help you find cool art.
Recommend art from people that you watch for a Daily Deviation (if good art, of course).
Uncheck all boxes when watching. There's nothing more disappointing than an empty watch.
