Not My Father
The night was a slow one and Robin was wondering just how longer the case could be played out. Here they were, waiting.
Bruce had pulled him away from his own research just an hour before for the case currently on the backlit streets of Gotham. Tim didn't really mind, though he was wishing he had thought to bring the article by Lois Lane to read more while they were waiting on this stakeout. The Ritzi gang (he had thought to ask about the name, but just got a long shake of the head from his older brother) was lying low for some reason in its normally 'loud' exchanges on the streets. Batman didn't know the reason and he needed to know. So the calm of the stony cold office had to be disturbed.
In this case, Tim could almost see Bruce smirking and muttering, 'Who better than him?'
Though this Robin was not a party animal, Dick could definitely qualify where Tim didn't. Every time the trio found themselves in this type of situation, the current Boy Wonder could see why the

Summary: After returning to the Bat-Cave from a dead-end mission and a talk with Gordon, Bruce learns Who He Is to the young child who fights beside him as the Boy Wonder.
Disclaimer: I don't own Batman & Robin.
Seriously, did they honestly think they were surprising them?
An empty street on the outskirts of Gotham had lead the Dynamic Duo to a dead end at an outlet from the Gotham river and now the thugs of the ghost town had suddenly decided to become territorial.
"Get the freaks!"
Obviously alienated from the normal winds of news and gossip of the rest of the city...
"I call the ugly one!" a voice chirped as a bright form popped out of the shadows of the creaky buildings and attacked a mugger from behind.
"But-they were just in front of us!" one thug with a non-working chainsaw turned and received a dark colored, steel toed boot to the jaw.

Chapter one: Together and Alone
The Batman stands on top of Wayne tower his cape blowing behind him. It's a freezing night, not that this is anything uncommon in Gotham. Beneath the cowl Bruce Wayne holds a heavy expression. He wonders where the boy is, Dick Grayson, what's happening to him.
Bruce remembers what happened three weeks ago so clearly. As clearly as the death of his own parents. How could he allow this to happen? He is the BATMAN! He is supposed to protect people, save people. He did this all to make sure no children would end up like he did.
And yet somewhere there is a child suffering. And he was there! He should have done something! He should have stopped it! He failed again. Bruce throws his head up and screams.
Closure [Young Justice Animated - Dick, Bruce]Thanks to time zone differences, it was late Christmas Eve by the time Robin and the others returned to Mount Justice from their "mission" in Europe. With Wally insisting that the group stick around for a round of carols, eggnog, and exchanging Secret Santa gifts especially after he'd come all the way over, and convinced Kaldur and Zatanna to do the same Robin's return to Gotham was delayed for a further few hours. Fortunately, Dick had previously informed Alfred that he'd be spending Christmas Eve, and the days preceding it, with the Team at Mount Justice. There was some truth to it. Even so, once the last bit of gift-wrap had been cleared, Robin decided it wasn't prudent to linger, and gathered up his Secret Santa gift with great care. It was a fancy Martian memory globe from M'gann: it portrayed whatever memory or image you thought of while rubbing it, and would continue to do so until you "changed" the memory. Too. Cool.

Author's Note: A while back, I held a poll on which RiD one-shot I would write next. This one came in 4th on Deviant Art with 13% of the vote and 3rd on with 14% of the vote. I've tried to write the others before it, but they weren't cooperating so here we are!
This has been a nibble in my mind for a while now and I think I've broken through my writer's block enough to get this out. I hope it meets my expectations as well as yours. It begins during the battle on Malina Island at the end of the second season episode "Alienated".
Disclaimer: Young Justice is not mine; Batman/Robin/et al are not mine; basically none of it is mine but I'm playing with them anyway! I promise I'll return them when I'm done with them… hopefully with all the right pieces. *EvilGrin*

I arrived in Gotham under the impression that I would only be staying for two weeks. In those days I was still traveling with Haly's Circus. My parents had been with the circus since before I was born, and when I turned four they simply integrated me into the act. But I was never allowed to participate in the finale, which was always done without a safety net. Not that I ever fell during a show or anything. I barely fell in practice. But my parents didn't want to take the risk.
We got off the train around noon. The sky was dark with clouds. A light misty rain was falling. It made the entire train yard and the entire city for that matter look gray. Familiar voices began to shout familiar orders as we began to unload our train's cargo: excess luggage, props, animals, set pieces. Most of which had to be transported to the fairgrounds so we could set up our big top. My dad handed off our lighter luggage to my mom.
"You go check into the hotel, alright? I'm going
No Words NeededIt was Friday afternoon and the cave was eerily quiet. No Words Needed3 years ago in General Fiction More Like This
Practically no one was around. Conner, Megan, and Kaldur were off on a special off world mission, meaning the cave was currently empty.
All except for a certain speedster.
In one of the many restrooms present in the cave, Wally West was standing in front of a mirror staring at his own reflection.
Sad green eyes stared back at him as his gaze shifted to the large purple bruise that was currently forming on his right cheek. He gently ran his fingers over the purple spot and winced when he felt a familiar sense of pain flow through his body.
He looked up at his reflection once more as his grip on the sink tightened. His eyes began to water as he thought about the reason behind the bruise.
His dad had hit him.
Yeah, he had been pushed around before but never had his dad physically hit him.
It hurt to think about it.
Wally was too busy with his thoughts to notice that somebody else had entered the room. By the time he realized he was no

The intended effect of Robin cowering in fear is lost as his words are punctuated by a coughing fit. (Never mind that Robin never actually cowers at anything Batman says. Sickness allows Bruce a measure of plausible deniability, if nothing else.)
"That's quite a cough you've got there, big guy." Dick's indulgent grin would be more appropriate as bestowed by guardian to ward rather than the reverse, not that Bruce ever smiles at anyone indulgently. "I bet Penguin's goons will be terrified."
"Indeed, Master Dick." Note to self: find a new, non-treacherous butler. One that won't ply him with herbal tonics that look like liquified death. Before that, however
"It's not too late for me to send you back to the circus, chum," Bruce threatens, downing the vile concoction in one go. He'd swear on the Batmobile that Alfred deliberately makes it taste that unpleasant.

Dick's head hit the keyboard in front of him while he groaned, "He did what?"
On the screen before the sitting Bat was the image of his childhood friend Donna Troy, aka Troia, who had her face scrunched up from obvious stress, "I don't know HOW he did it. All I know is that Bart left the room and now it's flooded with sea water and worst of all, all of our coffee is missing!"
"Master Dick, may I ask why the League keeps 200 gallons of sea water in the Watchtower?" Alfred asked behind the stressed out Batman.
The coffee he understood.
"That's the problem Alfred-we don't!"
Alfred's concerned face morphed back into a neutral visage before he set down his favorite serving tray by his master's side, piled high with sandwiches that probably wouldn't get eaten. He nodded solemnly and then excused himself to pick up his duster and head off to the trophy room.
"If I didn't need to stick around and wait for Kara, I'd be chasing that caffeine-induced brat through South America," Troia promised wi

The very reason behind his being was that he was a shadow, which encompassed all and cast a shadow over everything below. But still, he wondered. His master used fear as his ultimate weapon, and appropriately, his symbol was a creature of the night; the very amplifier of fear, the substance of nightmares, the mask which hides the monsters that prowl through this sinful city. But, his student's symbol was one that summoned neither fear nor respect from his enemies or his allies. A helper at best, a source of cruel laughter at worst. Prologue: End of the Flying Graysons
Why is it that when people think of the last moments of life they think things slow down? To Richard John Grayson time sped up as his parents feel to their deaths. They moved at super speed, to fast for anyone to do anything to make it better, to make it stop.
The sound of breaking bodies could somehow be heard over the mess of the circus tent as people screamed and children cried. All Dick can do is stand frozen at the top of the platform. Is eyes, so bright blue, are wide and full of fear and horror. He skinny limps are shaking as his face is frozen in a scream that won't come to voice.
Everything speeds up so fast and then just stops. The whole god damn world just stops in its tracks to stare at the mangled, broken, dead bodies of Mary and John Grayson. Like its some kind of show and Dick swears he sees a flash go off somewhere in

Time seemed to slow as Jason pulled out the gun from its holder. The gun was pressed against Kaldur's head and the trigger was being pulled back. But Tim was faster, he dove at Jason, knocking him off Kaldur just as the gun was about to go off. The gun fired, hitting the ground right next to Kaldur's head and flew off to some unknown place.

But when the door slid open, she was greeted by something else entirely.

An AU. 21-year old Dick Grayson protects Gotham City as Nightwing, but his life takes a turn for the worse and better due to an 8-year old Bruce Wayne.
Dick Grayson breathed a sigh of relief at the sight inside the library. His aunt/maid had collapsed into the chair by the fire, her favorite quilt pulled snuggly around her shoulders. Closing the door quietly, the man slowly backed away down the hallway until he came to a more familiar door. He smirked and quickly stepped inside-holding his breath while he turned the lock. Hearing nothing in response- he turned slightly to his right and flipped on a floor lamp decorated with silver and gold thread. His aunt had fallen in love with the thing when they had spotted it in a store front window in India. He didn't mind that it was in his study.

Robin was a prankster. He loved causing trouble for the many members of the Justice League. It wasn't news to them either. Ever sense they had first met Robin they knew he was special, that he had many talents, and one of those was his cleverness, on how to mess with the League member's heads. He loved doing it to, the League could see it on his face when one of his pranks went perfect. The pride in his stance as he came out of the shadows to announce his victory. Yes he was a clever boy. No one could doubt that.
Some of his pranks made most of the Leaguers laugh. Like the time he had put pink hair die in Ollie's shampoo. He had laughed as he saw the Leaguers faces when Ollie came out screaming bloody murder. The Leaguers had stared at Ollie like he had grown an extra head. His blond hair and mustache were both now hot pink. He was screaming at Barry, Clark, and Hal, thinking they had done it. He and Robin had been inseparable for months, ever since they started hanging out outside of the uniforms, so Wally was confident he knew the other boy pretty well. Something was definitely off.
