I wake to the sound of the A/C turning on with my face buried in my pillow like usual. I push myself up and over to the left side of the bed, I just sit there for a few minutes trying not to fall back to sleep, shaking my head, i reach over and grab my phone turning it on and checking the time " 4:59?" i mumble as I set it back down and stand up. Stretching, I look around my bedroom. In front of me was the walk in closet... nothing interesting there, behind me sat a lovely window that would shine light into my face each morning if i slept in to long, right to the left of it was "the center" a jumbled mass co
Suprise package pt 3Tylers transformation continues as scales had started rippling across his skin as he fell on his side. He stares at me from amber eyes flecked with gold near the pupil, which had begun to shift as his muscles started to grow... and his bones broke and reformed. His clothes shredded within seconds as his size doubled, and his body grew wings and a tail. I look and see that his hands had lost their thumb and wicked looking claws grew from the rest of his fingers. It suddenly dawns on me what's happening... he's becoming a full dragon. Then I think "OH **** he's becoming a full dragon!" I back away more as his tail finishes into a two tip style with a spike out of each end, and his body stops lenghtening and the muzzle finishes. I look back at his eye, it was tearing badly... and he now ha

I jerk awake at the sound, which was bad because my hind-spikes ended up tearing into the armrest. I pull them out, noting someone had put a blanket over me. I make a mental note to thank who did it later... as for now I tried to figure out what caused that sound.
There it is again! I pinpoint it as the back door. My parent's always lock both front and back doors before going to bed... so it had to be someone breaking in! Well, they had a nasty suprise coming, I slip carefully out from under the blanket and off the couch, barely making a sound. It was dark... I figure my vision had improved otherwise It would have been pitch black to me, (That's why I have a mental map of the house) right now i could just make out the outlines of everything which left me to use my mental map to guide me over to the front door and the light switch. “I’ve gotten his name so far, but not much else. He seems to have some trouble understanding and speaking – frankly, I think just remembering his name was an effort.” I said, looking at Benjamin in the sofa. He was scanning the room with a haggard look on his face, as if he couldn’t really make heads or tails of what was happening. I can’t blame him, I suppose. Judging by his difficulty with speech, he had had either little to none contact with people, or been out of touch for a very long time. Most of the time I had spoken to him, all I’d gotten as a reply was a confused look and a faint hum every now and then.
“He seems wary and afraid – I’m a bit afraid myself to be honest.” Dad said and shook his head. He nodded slightly in the gen

I exclaimed, trying to hammer into the event organiser's thick skull that I had no intension to go on stage. He had spent the past week pestering me to take up a role in the play, as he believed the rumours that said that I was a good actor. The only reason why I let him continue was because both of us were good friends, and I didn't want to damage our friendship over such a petty matter.
"Come on la, Keane, No one will be able to see your face! You'll be in the costume anyway, so for that matter, no one will be able see any part of you for that matter!" He seemed equally exasperated.

Am I human?Am I Human?Am I human?5 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
That was the question that I asked myself as I was standing on top of the cliff, with the rain and the wind blowing furiously around me.
"Am I Human?"
That is a very simple question for most people. Either you are a human or you are an animal, it's as simple as that. For me, that is not the case.
I'm not what you can call human, (after all: since when did humans have wings or a tail or maybe fangs and claws that could tear anyone that gets in their way to shreds?) but I'm not what you call animal either. Animals can't talk or walk on two legs or choose. They don't have what humans call "a mind", they just go on pure instinct and that's not what I do. I have a mind and can control what I do, though my instincts have sometimes got the better of me.
So what am I then? A half breed? An experiment that have gone wrong?
A FREAK? No, that's not what I am.
I am a mix. A mix between the two. A mix between the humans and the animals.
I wasn't born like this. If I was then I wouldn't

I woke up when my mom came into my room.
"Good morning Simon," she said.
"Good morning," I mumbled. What time is it? "
"A quarter to seven."
"Okay," I replied and sat up slowly. Give me ten minutes and then I'll come and eat breakfast ".
She did not reply but turned and went out to the kitchen.
I sank down on the pillow and closed my eyes again.
To my disappointment, I did not rest for a minute before I felt someone poking me in the back.
"I said ten minutes mom".
She did not answer but just poked harder and harder.
Eventually, it really hurts.
"Alright, I'll go up".
I sat up quickly and hit my head in the ceiling.
"Son of a ..."
I rubbed my head and looked around.
"What the? There is nobody here!"
Then I felt how I got poked in the back again. I slowly looked down and saw that it was my tail. It continued to eagerly poking itself in my back.
Dreams - Chapter ThreeI heard a small chirping sound from my left. I looked there, and to my surprise I saw a small sparrow sitting on the roof tile next to me. It was looking curiosly at me with its head tilted to one side. It did not seem to fear me one tiny bit, possibly due to the fact that it had never seen something like me before. I slowly extended one of my claws towards it, and it hopped onto it. Bringing it up to my face, I peered closer. It eyed me conspiciously for a few seconds before fluttering over to one of my horns. Very few cars ever came by due to the fact that the highway had been moved further away, making the place where we live a very calm place. I breath

Kerian breathes a sigh of relief as he shuts the defibrillator off "okay, I can run the blood work, but the ultrasound scans are beyond my knowledge, you'll have to look over them" pushing the machine back into the corner
"I know...just take the ultra sounds and send the readings to my computer"

As usual, I made my way to the library, toting a large bag full of work to boot. I was counting down to the big national examinations, which were but a week away. Left before my first paper, and I was nowhere as prepared as I would have liked to be…
I strolled into the library, the blast of cool air from the escaping air conditioning providing a refreshing respite from the hot muggy air of the outside. I made my way to the second floor where the study tables were. However, I was somewhat disappointed to find most of the tables already taken. I spent some time walking around, looking for a seat.
Eventually, I settled for a seat in a reasonably lit corner, and took out my materials and began to study. I was presently focusing on math, because mildly put, I had done horrendously in that subject in the preliminary examinations and was hoping to salvage the situation. But then again, that was more or less the case for all my subjects… I was t
