Hanging out with Weird AlI went to see my old bandmate Weird Al last night at the Pacific Amphitheater. We have been exchangng e-mails lately talking about MLP:FiM. I used to play in Weird Al's band, and have toured and recorded with him. We are good friends. All the guys in the band too. My homies. Especially Kimo and Bermuda.
Gee, wouldn't Al be a good guest star for MLP:Fim? Wow, seems like such a natural fit, don't you agree?
My daughter was supposed to record me chatting with him after the show but forgot to hit record...
Well, until we started talking about MLP. I just posted that on my You Tube page...
I miss playing live.
Man those guys are GOOD and TIGHT and play like monsters. And Al sang and performed his butt off. And the show is REALLY REALLY good.

Needless to say, I am REALLY excited to get this out to you guys. I will be animating every spare second I have. I'll try to have it done before next Monday.
Stay awesome Bronies! Love y'all!
Turning it off.I just shut everything down in my studio.Turning it off.3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Flying to Seattle for the Everfree NW thingy today. I am nervous. I am not like Tara and Daniel, masters of charm and public grace.
It is always so...unsettling to turn everything off and leave my cave.
I am a troglodyte, and sometimes I work so long and hard that I don't want to leave my studio. It's safe in here. It's my sanctuary. Leaving it exposes me to, uh.
Oh. Well. Let's. Go. Do. This.
Gonna go watch the sun come up.
Merry Christmas!Just wanted to wish each and everyone of my friends and followers a Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays/Whatever you may celebrate! And if you don't celebrate anything, then I'm still sending love and hugs to you all!Merry Christmas!3 years ago in Personal More Like This
This year has been full of crazy ups and downs for me, unfortunately more downs than ups - but that happens sometimes. Been going thru a lot of HUGE life changes in the past short while and I want to extend my thanks again to EVERYONE who has supported me throughout all this. It means more than you'll ever know. Here's looking to a brighter new year and to starting over.
I'll be leaving for Christmas vacation tomorrow and won't be back till just after the new year, so again, I wish you all a very happy Christmas and safe New Year. Also, please don't be alarmed if I don't respond to messages right away...I'll be away from the computer for the next week. Besides, this is a time to spend with family and friends and those you care about!
Take care everyone,
Lots of love,

dogswhen i walk tasha in the morning we always run into little babies in strollers who often want to pet the doggie.dogs3 years ago in Personal More Like This
tasha is friendly and affectionate, and we always stop.
but I always tell the baby, hey, tasha is a friendly dog, and it is o.k. to pet her, but not all dogs are friendly like her, so be careful.
once we were on our walk, and a german shephard that would always bark at tasha got loose.
he came running across the street, right towards tasha, without making a sound, and we stood there, tasha's tail wagging.
the german shephard proceeded to go straight to tasha's throat and viciously attacked her. It was so sudden and shocking. I started yelling "whose dog is this, whose dog is this" and I waited a few seconds for the snarling to stop, but it escalated. The shephard moved to her hind quarters, and I instinctively realized that he was trying to cripple her and get her on the ground so he could really savage her.
so I just started hitting the shephard on the head, not hard at fir

Mike Thompson on piano (from the Eagles, Don Henley)
Weird Al on Accordion
Bermuda Schwartz on drums
Larry Antonino on stand Up bass (air supply, pablo cruise, etc.)
Tom Evans on woodwinds (tonight show band, glen frey, etc, etc.
I am going to track everyone live in my living room.
Should be a lot of fun.
Can't believe these serious A-list would do this for me for so little money.
It's because we're friends.
My friends are awesome to do this for me! Mike flies in from a show Sunday and then is just coming over.
I am one happy dude.
Time for more coffee.
13 minutes of quiet time left.
Changing the world through musicSomeone recently brought up an interesting point as they left a comment on one of my YouTube videos. They argued that my talent wasn't very rare, and that everything I've done has already sorta been done before--that I'm not really pushing any boundaries or doing anything new. Tone is often lost or misconstrued over the internet, but it seemed to me that the person leaving the comment was insinuating that I was somehow "less" of an artist, or not quite deserving of praise, simply because I wasn't pushing some sort of boundary with the music I made.Changing the world through music3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I have a pretty thick skin, but I'll admit that negative comments bother me. They bother every artist. We do what we do to make others happy, and if we fail in that endeavor, it makes us feel bad. Any artist who denies that is either lying, or not in it for the right reasons (in my opinion). That being said, the guy's comment on my YouTube video... kinda bothered me.
the cliffWe walked north on the beach until we could go no further.the cliff3 years ago in Personal More Like This
The north end of the beach in front of the hotel ends with an outcropping of rocks that protrude into the ocean for a hundred yards. Two hundred yards? I don't know. My senses seem to have dwindled over the years or are lost entirely at times.
We climbed up the highest rock and sat, talking about the time we braved the waves and rocks closer to the shore to get to another private beach farther north. This time there was a sign saying not to attempt such a crossing.
Looking down from our perch it occurred to me that we could just jump off the cliff into the sea and swim to the private beach. Probably would be easier.
Eleanor knew I was thinking about it. She pointed out a big rock just below the surface. Hmm. Not there. A little farther out. The cliff is a little lower. Hmm. Water looks dark and deep. Look, we could dive straight out, not down, we don't want to hit any rocks. Then we go around that bed of kelp and straight to th

Probably the rarest and most noble of all human traits.
A characteristic rarely seen in every day encounters, and yet a trait that so many in this amazing community seem to exibit naturally.
One such individual is Caerdwyn.
A Silicon Valley Engineer, roommate of the infamous DustyKatt, and the son of a decorated Navy Pilot; Caerdwyn has given of his time, money, and resources to so many in our community without ever asking for anything in return.
He is the true element of generosity, the embodiment of his father's heroism, and the man I would nominate to be the Ambassador of this great fandom were we ever to elect one!
You have done so much for me and for so many others...
I don't know how to repay you, but rest assured I will think of something!
Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you!!

I did this as a request for a friend and to test out my new mic. Wadda y'all think?
My Massively Stolen Art (update 9.26)Going to add to this now... I've gotten a LOT of great advice, and it seems my next move will be to send a cease and desist letter to any and all websites I can find selling my work.My Massively Stolen Art (update 9.26)3 years ago in Personal More Like This
As for getting a lawyer, my brother in law is actually a lawyer, and while we've talked to him about this and he's offered to help, he's very busy right now and won't be able to get around to doing anything until later.
Also, it seems the site I'd originally linked as one example of where the tattoo sleeve was being sold had already taken it down. That's great! Now there's just...hah, I don't know how many more to go. :}
Many of you have offered excellent advice and left some very long and helpful comments. I do want to reply to those individually, but while I work my way down that list, I just wanted to add a blanket THANK YOU to everyone who's taken time out of their day to help. Y'all are amazing!

Good to be writing, playing, seeing Al & my old band mates. Looking forward to attending Everfree NW this weekend.
If anyone is going say hi!
Just finishing writing the theme for the new PacMan animated series for Disney XD.
It is the antithesis of MLP. Can you say Progressive House with glitch elements and lo-fi 8 bit sounds?
The Audition... (Also, I'm in the states!)Hey guys! The Audition... (Also, I'm in the states!)3 years ago in Personal More Like This
So here's the low down:
The audition went well...
So well in fact that even though they haven't come out with the results yet, they told me... Well, I'm not aloud to say until they do come out with the results...
Assuming I did make it though, as soon as the E-6 hiring freeze lifts I will be moving out to Anapolise Maryland and will be promoted two ranks!
I will also be stationed with my brother Nathanael (BAASIK) who is a 2nd Class at the Naval Academy. Thus we will be able to write tons of new songs, like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5dik_yKUJfo
Not to mention I will finally be able to go to BRONYCON!!
Yeah... I hope I made it...
In other news, and this is somewhat important so I will be putting it in bold letters for those of you who just skim over journal posts like I do... I AM CURRENTLY IN THE USA AND WANNA MEET ANOTHER FREAKING BRONY GOSH DERN IT!!

MLP season 3 !! SPOILERSo I saw the news on Equestria Daily about the season 3 !MLP season 3 !! SPOILER3 years ago in Personal More Like This
There are videos about the two songs in the season 3, the animation looks really good, GREAT JOB STUDIO B ♥
So if you want to know what will have on the season 3 ♥♥♥ :
Trixie's return was "confirmed" with a "I think we're not allowed to say, but I will expect season three to maybe see some great and powerful stuff". after someone asked if she would be returning. (yesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyes)
There was a great section about Derpy. Someone asked if she would be receiving anymore speaking roles, and the response basically said Hasbro loves Derpy, they have her everywhere now, but she probably wont be able to roll with anything other than background shots. You guys scared the poor girl!
Octavia's section was a question about "Which background pony would you like to voice?". This eventually lead to a shoutout for Octavia, where Cathy Weseluck just out of nowhere busted out an awesome
ABOUT PONY HEARTSOkay if there's one piece of work that I've ever made in my entire life of drawing that I regret more than anything, it would be those fucking pony hearts.ABOUT PONY HEARTS2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Literally every single day (since the day I made them) I get 1-10 notes or comments about someone stealing, tracing, recolouring, selling my work here or somewhere else. So naturally, I fucking hate those things. I probably would've done them a lot more if I didn't have to deal with art theft twenty times a day.
To those of you who have been informing me of these thefts from time to time, I really appreciate it as always. Without people like you I wouldn't even be able to track down, or even KNOW about the people stealing them. So really, you have my deepest thanks and gratitude.
NOW to get things straight. I'm tired of going through these art theft pictures and reading comments about how, "He gave me permission to make it a base" or "He doesn't care". WRONG, I do care and will report you without hesitation if I see it.

CreateAll too often the desires of man have fallen off the path of the righteous. We seek selfish means to greedy ends, forget our common man, concern ourselves with power, lust, wealth, at the expense of others. Misery takes root in our obsession. The world has become a very dead, cold, and gray place.Create3 years ago in Personal More Like This
And yet, there is still a goodness in man. Sometimes hidden, buried. A mere spark can ignite it, remind us of what we can stand for instead. And some of us choose to kindle this fire, taking heart in the warmth it brings forth.
How much of a burden does it weigh to be a force of good?
Despite the odds and the struggle, many push forward, amidst this sea of gray despair, carrying with them the torches of tomorrow. The weight is dense, but more soon join, and the burden becomes lighter. The warmth we feel is that of a bond we share with all life. We find that we can take heart in one another's fellowship. We bear witness that love can overpower hate.
And what's more, we become inspired.
