"Drawing for Yourself"I've heard this tons of times and I do agree with it at some point. But I think there are different ways of explaining it."Drawing for Yourself"2 years ago in Personal More Like This
As far as where I am now, I realize that I do not just draw for myself, but for everyone else. The most important element in my life are the people that have supported me for years. My friends, family, my followers, just everybody.
To be honest, I feel a lot better when I draw for everyone else instead of for myself. I love seeing the reaction on their faces and I am always eager to hear their full honest opinion. I want to know what they love, why they love it, and how does a certain thing make them happy.
All these months since 2011 I have been basically training myself to be a "giver". I draw for you guys. Even if it's original work of my own, I look for your reactions, whether they are good or bad. It helps me observe what I'm doing right and how can I improve. Before I even begin a sketch, the first thought that crosses my mind is "how can I impress

I agree with this post but I've never told anyone to not to go to art school or university.
People ask me all the time what school do I go to (ALL THE TIME). I always respond "just a cheap state university", but it kinda of bugs when people want me to be specific when it really doesn't matter.
I don't like the bureaucratic system in my university. I think taking GE classes are a waste of time and should only count as electives. I hate how the university uses the horrible methods to teach us art since it never works. I hate how the Art Department does not offer a lot of classes compared to other departments.
I took over five Animation classes and none of them helped me. What helped me was studying from the "Preston Blair Animation book". I studied it on my own time when I was doing an internship in Florida (nothing to do with my career but it was fun).
I've seen students struggle because they were not taught properly how t

I hate when people call me "lucky" for the successes I've had. I worked hard for them. Real hard. Possibly too hard. For that same reason, when people who give up on their dreams complain to me about their lot in life, I'm not gentle with them. I can't be. I know life can get really tough, but to give up in the face of adversity shows a real weakness of character. To watch people give up saddens me, and kind of angers me as well.

I feel a little better now...I missed you guys...Let's get back to buisness.
To those wondering about my Tumblr, let's just say I'm not going back, I did not feel welcome there, hahaha.
Here's some music.
I'm going on a long art hiatus. :EDIT:EDIT: Just to clarify something, I'm not back from my art break yet. I know I posted up that King Harkinian pic (seriously, did you guys read the title at all!? XD) but that was only so the guy who I did it for could access the pic through my site.I'm going on a long art hiatus. :EDIT:8 months ago in Personal More Like This
I'm still gonna be gone for a while guys. Sorry. I'm far from organized.
Now that I've got all the art that I had due finished, I would like to take a long break from dA and tumblr.
The fact is that I've got a lot of things going on in my life right now, the bulk of involving school-related stuff like clinicals, classes, studying, and some important tests that are coming up. In short, I'm extremely busy, and I don't want to be distracted at this important time, since I'm very near to graduating and I have to get everything right in the next couple of weeks.
Another reason for this break is that I feel like I haven't been progressing as an artist recently. My skills have remained more or less the same for the last couple of months,
Alright, I feel like I gotta state this...I've been frequently inquired about requests and art trades these past few weeks, so i feel like I should update you guys on my current status.Alright, I feel like I gotta state this...8 months ago in Personal More Like This
First off, I am NOT accepting any requests or art trades. I will VERY RARELY accept requests, but if I ever do, it would most likely be in a livestream or something.
With art trades, I'm only inviting others to do trades with me. Very rarely will I accept an art trade request, and if I do the artist who sent said request to me should at least know how to draw at a decent level. I know that may sound a bit harsh, but the fact is that the art trade gimmick is, sadly, often used to just get some free art from artists.
Also, I feel like I should state my current workload so you guys can have an idea on just how much work I have piled up to do:
- I've got 3 commissions to finish
- I have an art trade with :iconmalbenthomas:
- I have a ton of personal projects I wanna get to work on after I finish all the art I owe.
And that's just the work that's ar

Hi guys! I'm opening up commissions again this month since I got some free time what with winter break and all that. I've also been itching to draw stuff, but I don't know what to draw. Also, there is this awesome tablet monitor I want to save up for myself, and not have to depend on my parents to get it.
I'm gonna be offering a variety of things this time as well. They are as follows:
A page of sketches with as many characters as you want (traditional or digital, your choice):
-black and white (pencil and pen): $20
-colored sketches: $30
Busts (face to upper torso)
- black and white: $10

I was very proud of it but this was completely unexpected! A huge thanks to *Lazulelle for suggesting it and to ^KasumiCR for featuring it. And thanks to everyone else for the sweet comments and favs.
In other news, my cat is getting better. And I saved some money for his next appointment. We're still keeping an eye on his bottom lip since we're still not 100% sure what caused it.
And in just a few minutes, I'm going to San Diego for my cousin's wedding.
Also the commissions are going great! Some of you guys requested more than just a pencil character sketch so it's taking some time.
I think I'm forgetting something else.... Oh well probably not important

My art was published! Not only that, I got to draw along with some of Saskatoon's artists as well! (the blank spot with the can of Coke is where I sat lol. I drew two sketches while I was there which I still have. And to top it off, Jody (store manager and magazine creator/contributor) gave me this lovely note thanking me for my contribution.

1) What's your favorite game company?
Right now? Platinum Games, WayForward, Telltale Games and GameFreak. I'm also a fan of the Big N.
2) Early bird or night owl?
Night owl. I can get more work done at night, when it's quiet. I end up sleeping a lot because I always have vivid dreams, so mornings are something I miss out on a lot.
3) Who's your favorite superhero? (comics, movies, cartoons, games
How to be a Great ArtistPeople write me all the time on how to be a great artist and I figured that I would finally answer instead of delaying it constantly. So here are some tips on how to improve. How to be a Great Artist9 months ago in Personal More Like This
These are legit. They helped me so they will help you as well.
1. Steal People's Work
I'm pretty sure you have a lot of favorite artists that are popular as well. Download their artwork and upload in your account. And because the majority of the internet is stupid, say that it's yours. Who's gonna know? The chances of you getting caught is very slim. But on the chances that you do get caught, deny that you stole it. Create an army and tell your minions to give that person hate spam. And don't forget to write in your journal that everything you post is from you. This will definitely increase your popularity.
2. Find a Style and Stick to It
Who cares about knowledge and construction and improvement? No one does. All you need to succeed is finding a new style and using it forever. Just make up one and n

Live the dream, don't talk about it!Doug TenNapel, independent comics creator, is an inspiration to me in many ways. He has a fun, accessible art style that is dramatic and fresh. His story telling is always askew in the best of ways. I don't think I've read one of his graphic novels without having some smiles and a surprise or two along the way. On top of that, he is outspoken about almost everything in his life. (I think of him as the Rush Limbaugh of comics- oh man, that sounds really bad, but early Rush, not present day Rush, if that helps.) I agree with most things he states on Facebook. BUT- the thing I am most inspired about him is his drive (in the old days we would call that "work ethic"). The guy does NOT give up. Because of that, he single-handedly will put out a new graphic novel a year. While creating a webcomic. While pitching new TV show development ideas in Hollywood. While running a half marathon. While working freelance jobs.Live the dream, don't talk about it!1 year ago in Personal More Like This

Honestly I can't brag enough of how many wonderful friends I have. I even consider all of my followers my friends and children. I just wanna spoil you all with cookies, ice-cream, strawberries and nutella, but since I don't have food or money, my art is all I can provide. I hope as time goes I can give you guys more entertainment.
There are so many friends that I strongly admire and some that I have admired for years and it amazes me that they take interest in little ol' me. It blows me away.
I hope to never lose any of that. You guys are so special to me and I want to keep you guys for the rest of my life and continue spoiling you.
And if there are times when I act depressed or "emo", then I really apologize. I don't want to return to my young years when I was dull and a hater to absolutely everything. I hope to stay happy and optimistic every single day despite my overwhelming university and other personal issues.
And to my really good friends, I hope to keep g
I just had a sudden realization...Whenever I look at other artists' work, I can't help but compare myself to them. It seems to be a habit for me, but instead of getting me down or depressed, it actually motivates me to work on weak areas in my art.I just had a sudden realization...1 year ago in Personal More Like This
You see, I've realized something recently. Every artist has certain 'strong points' in their art, things that they are just the best at. For example, :iconheffyjoe: draws the best cartoon animals I've ever seen, :iconnargyle: always puts amazing poses and action into her drawings and has an excellent sense of color theory, and :iconthemrock:'s line art is so detailed and expressive, not to mention his art has that cartoon wackiness that makes them irresistible. When we see that we need to improve on something that others have already mastered, it's not bad to study those artists' art. Also, if you want to learn how to draw animals better, or put more action in your art, find out how other artists have learned to do so.
It's kinda funny, this process. It proves that artists a

Disney layoffs, 2D animation, and youA very nervous animation student (he didn't say, but I assume he is studying 2D animation) asked me about my opinions on the state of animation these days. What are the companies thinking with laying off all the employees, not doing 2D animation, canceling great TV series, etc.? Are the business people just evil? AND the even bigger question: Is John Lassiter a jerk (or worse) for letting all the 2D animators at Disney go yesterday?Disney layoffs, 2D animation, and you8 months ago in Personal More Like This
MY ANSWER: I have a slightly controversial (for an artist) perspective on businesses and business people. Over all, I like them. At times, I have even been grateful for them. (Steady paychecks should never be taken for granted. Wait till you don't have one one day, then you'll know!) Remember, we live in a world where businesses are expected to make money to stay alive. It's called capitalism. Others call it "business". That means, the animation world isn't any different from any other job/company

Adulthood! I guess?...Well, I finally turned 18 yesterday, but I don't feel that different....Adulthood! I guess?...11 months ago in Personal More Like This
I'm still busy with stuff, I still have life responsibilities, and I'm still going to school. Hmm, maybe I turned into an adult years back. Sure, I'm physically an adult now, but mentally I've been one for as long as I can remember. I grew out of my teenage tendencies way before they usually subside in most individuals, but I feel more whole as a person. I guess being an adult just means that you've matured on the inside, not just on the outside.
And that's what really counts.
My thoughts on Adventures of Sonic the HedgehogThis may seem a little early but I already know what I'm going to say about this show. I've said several times that AOSTH is my favorite Sonic cartoon, while others worship SatAM. It's time I explain why I enjoy this show. Well, here it is.My thoughts on Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog was the first Sonic cartoon and one of the best. The plot of the whole show is simple. Robotnik is trying to take over Mobius and Sonic has to stop him. I know the later shows had more melodramatic storylines but sometimes a simple storyline works better. Sonic is voiced by Jaleel White who will provide his voice in the later DiC shows. The cartoon also introduces Sonic's favorite food, chili dogs. Tails is in this show too. Unlike SatAM I find his brotherly relationship with Sonic believable. Sally does appear in the Christmas special though but I'll get to that another time, probably around Christmas. Robotnik is voiced by Long John Baldry and he is great. He may be a clown in this show but at least he wasn't a Doc
