The Commander was crazy - completely, utterly crazy. He'd trained and fought alongside vanguards before, but this Could this even be called fighting?
It was more like watching a giant freight train striking down everything in its path! To tell the truth, Kaidan had no idea that biotics could even be used in such a way.
One second, the Commander was standing right next to them, giving his orders and assessing the situation - the next, he was gone! Vanished! All he could see was their enemies in the distance flying all over the place as a result of his ridiculously powerful biotic charge, followed by a full blown nova knocking back attackers in a massive arc of biotic energy.
And then, there Marco Shepard was knee deep in geth and husks, shields depleted, shooting them at close range with his shotgun or delivering a few well placed punches if they ever got too close.
Kaidan had tried to assist

He sees it out of the corner of his eye-
the flash of a gun,
the curl of fingers.
He's out of practice.
Slower than usual.
But he's been Alliance for longer than he's been retired,
and his reflexes kick in anyway,
turning over the table,
pushing the woman in front of him down,
dropping to the floor himself.
He hears the gun fire.
He rolls, using the table for cover.
Rattled thoughts ram through his brain.
What the fuck-
Who the hell-
Are you kidding me?
He wishes he had his gun,
and as he glances around for something useful,
his thoughts become more orderly.
There's only one exit.
If I can find a way to move the civilians out-
no, not enough time.
Gotta take him down.
Fuck, I need backup!
As if in answer to a prayer-
not that Shepard believes in those,
he hears a familiar voice.
His hand snaps

Commander Shepard looked out the window of the apartment at the Armax Arsenal Combat Arena just across the strip, although not really seeing it. While his eyes scoped the holographic lettering of the building, his mind was combing the bulge of the right pocket of his favorite jacket: an N7-themed black cotton hooded jacket that harkened back to 20th and 21st century fashion. Reaching his callused hand into the pocket, he pulled out what it so contained: a black velvet case that contained one of the most special purchases he hoped he would ever make.
As his fingers unconsciously stroked the soft velvet, Shepard thought about the man the contained was intended for. He had known the man for a few years now, but only recently did he realize he had deep feelings for him. A few weeks ago, Shepard got to sit down with him at Apollo Café on the Presidium so they could relax and talk over lunch and drinks. Before they gave themselves the chance to order, his love said something that made
Heal My Wounds--Chapter 1"Joker, I don't care what you have to do, get us back to Earth," Kaidan's voice was sharp and demanding as he ran into the cockpit. The thought of his commander gone was just too much for him to accept. There were too many words that still needed to be shared, so much more to be done between them. He couldn't face the highly probable chance that his lover -after years of feeling betrayed and loving him regardless of that- was gone. He ran a hand through his thick black hair. There was no way that he was losing John.Heal My Wounds--Chapter 12 years ago in Romance More Like This
The flight lieutenant nodded, having suffered a loss of his own, finding Shepard would have been a welcomed distraction. Even though that Shepard had told he and EDI not to get together, he still felt the impact of her loss.
John had never been a proper gentleman, hell he was never proper at all. He would kill someone without a second thought, but no matter what he did, he had a reason. Joker growled as he stood, finding that he had broken a rib. "Get Adams, we're goin

Darkest Before The Dawn (MShepxKaidan Aftermath) It was hard to wake up, to pull himself from the darkness. It was the best rest he had been graced with in a long while. But Commander Shepard's still body eventually drew in a sharp breath, and shortly after, his eyes fluttered open. Though he was greeted with complete darkness. Rubble was packed all around him, casting him in the darkest of shadows. He couldn't even see his leg which he realized was in more pain than the rest of his broken body. He wondered how long he had been out. He tried to activate his omni-tool, but it only blipped on and off. He was shaking he realized as he toyed with the settings. He could hardly press the buttons, yet he wasn't cold. Or at least he didn't think he was. He managed to stabilize the omni-tool enough to work with, but the image was almost as unstable as his hands were. He discovered he had been unconscious for three days. Three days seemed like a long time. In three days the council would have begun making plans to clean up and repairDarkest Before The Dawn (MShepxKaidan Aftermath)2 years ago in Romance More Like This

Garrus knew that Shepard was strong and he knew that she would at least try to fight against it. She was the owner of her life and her death. However, from what he had heard, this time it was different.
He wasn't ready to accept that she wasn't going to make. Jane was a fighter, it's what she lived for. She laughed at death; the Sole Survivor of Akuze, destroyer of the Collectors. She

My name is Kaidan Alenko, I am Human, I am a Spectre and I am a Biotic master.
I fought with Shepard on Earth. And before I left, I told him: I would fight hard to get the chance to hold him again.
I told him I would fight fierce and hard because I lost so much time with him, I lost everything with him. When Ashley died on Virmire, I felt a piece of him open up to me. And then when I lost him in the crash on Normandy after the collectors I died inside.
I spent my shore leave, all of it. On the day that we returned back to citadel, and held onto his shirt.
It still smells of him.
I put it in a Mass Effect field and managed to stop the decay of the cells to about 5 years, so regardless of what happened, as long as the field stood, I could still get a chance to smell him.
His sweat, his skin and his scent where in that shirt. And I remember Ilos so clearly

Kaidan wasn’t a man that snapped easily, but when Anderson told him that only a week after Kaidan had left for Horizon, Shepard had appeared in his office, something inside his mind just broke.
And when Kaidan snapped, he seemed to do put as much effort into that as he did with everything else.
‘No point in doing something unless you are going to do it properly,’ his mother had used to say, but he didn’t think she’d had Kaidan’s temper in mind when she had said that.

MASS EFFECT 3 ALTERNATE ENDING *SPOILERS OBVIOUSLY*
**EDIT** Holy crap this got way more attention than I was expecting. The comments and support have been amazing everyone!
A few points: Credit where credit is due; this ending, as much as everyone seems to love it, was only created because the amazing team at Bioware created a universe that was so rich and full of life and detail. As much as I know a lot of fans are hurt by what they did, we need to remember that Bioware still created an incredible trilogy, one of the best ever. So hats off to them all round.
Also, this was written really fast and so the ending (specifically the last part on how you actually win using TIM's signal) isn't very fleshed out. I know there are holes, and they can actually be fixed quite easily. This isn't perfect. Also, this doesn't deal with a 'happy' ending. If there were to be one, or you were to even CONSIDER taking the fourth option, you'd need to be damn ready. I'm talking ALL war assets e

Being head of the Marine details meant that there was nothing that Kaidan didn't know about the things that were going on around the ship except for the things he weren't supposed to know. He was fine with that, it was the way he preferred things.
He was also surprised over the amount of people he actually knew, but the one that made him grin when he saw him was Joker. He was not surprised that Anderson and Hackett had chosen him to fly the Normandy.
"This dame needs a special hand to fly her and I got the touch," Joker said, grinning at Kaidan who just chuckled and grinned in return.
The biggest surprise though was when the commander of the ship was announced, making several people gasp. Whispers were already filling the briefing room.
There was not a soul who had not heard about Commander John Shepard, the latest N7 graduate. The hero of Elysium.
People were talking, creating their own images about the man. They had been doing that for the last seven years

Kendra Shepard watched Kaidan walk away. It has been two years for him, she thought. It feels like months for me. What does this mean for us? The yellowish grass of Horizon waved, flattened in places by booted feet or the blackened bodies of the Collectors. She could hear Garrus and Grunt breathing behind her, could almost sense their hulking presences. And Kaidan dwindled.
He had been a great friend-a great soldier.
But her new soldiers needed to get out of here, back to the safety of the ship.
She keyed the comm on her glowing arm rig. "Joker. Come get us."

Kaidan had never been one for parties, especially not when he was still recovering from his cold.
Chakwas had found it downright funny that he’d been that knocked out by a simple cold, describing it as a “man-cold”, which Kaidan didn’t quite get. A cold was a cold, right, no matter who it happened to blossom in.
Still, it was nice to get the offer and he had to admit that the pout on Ashley’s face had been a cute one when he said no.
“I’ll make it up to you when we are done at Virmire. I promise.”
“I’ll hold you to that, LT,” she had grinned before tugging Tali and Shepard along with her.
The Normandy was surprisingly silent every time the crew got shore-leave, and Kaidan was enjoying it to the max. Rumours had it that their next mission on Virmire would be a big one so this was probably the last chance people would have to blow off some steam.
Or do like Kaidan and just enjoy the peace and quiet.

He didn't look at only him, that much Kaidan was sure of. But when Kaidan was looking at him, the stranger seemed to be studying him.
This made Kaidan nervous. And when he was nervous, he fucked up more easily.

Things were never easy whenever Shepard was involved. Kaidan would have liked to say he was surprised when Anderson had told him that Shepard had surrendered to the Alliance after venturing into the unmapped Omega 4 relay, destroying the Collectors ship as well as the base then blowing up a mass relay in the Bahak system, destroying the entire thing in the process. The news itself certainly rocked him to his core. Shepard had destroyed an entire system. The way it sounded it was without a single flinch or care, all in the name of stopping the Reapers. Shepard's resolve was never going to break whenever the Reapers were involved. Despite death, disaster and destruction following her around like a second shadow, she still persevered trying to be the biggest hero in the galaxy. But then she went and destroyed an entire system, Kaidan was having trouble wrapping his head around that. He barely could accept the fact that Shepard was alive again, he had watched the original Normandy explode,

Living on the Citadel with two Spectres as your owners is about as cushy as things could get for a varren like me: guaranteed meals every day, including some snuck-under-the-table treats; a comfy place to sleep, be it in my own bed or theirs (but only when Kaidan isn't around); lots of traveling to places varren have probably never been to; and more love and attention than I could possibly ask for or expect.
If there's anything I could complain about, it's the lack of warmth from the artificial sunlight. I flop over in the mid-afternoon sunbeam and pretend to warm my other side.

In a way, it all seemed so simple. They had three planets to check, three planets where they could possibly find leads on Saren and the "conduit" he was chasing.
And some planet in the Artemis Tau System to find, if she was there still, Professor Liara T'Soni.
Three choices, three urgent missions.
Like Shepard wasn't already under a lot of stress with his newfound Spectre-status.
Kaidan could see that the load was heavy on Shepard's shoulders since everything had been more or less sprung on him. He was taking it in stride though, showing just how capable he was as he ordered Joker to take off. He just hadn't decided to where yet.
It was a tough call, one that Shepard had to think about closely. All Kaidan could do was to offer some support in the only way he knew how.
Rapping his knuckles against the hard metal door, Kaidan waited for the muffled "enter" to reach his ears before palming the electronic lock, opening it. He gave Shepard a small

No matter how many times Kaidan went into space, he was always fascinated every time he did it. There were simply so many things to see, people to talk to.
And they did talk to a lot of people, alien and human alike.
Kaidan wasn't fuzzed, the universal translators equipped under his skin, just above his ears, helped in understanding their tongue. It didn't matter to him who he worked with, he happily co-operated with whoever he was told to work with.
He liked working with Asaris', at least those who didn't mind working with him. Some frowned over the thought of a human biotic since their skills were "created", not something that was natural to their kind like the Asaris' abilities were.
Others were fascinated by him and his abilities as well as the natural strength to his biotics, telling him that he was rivalling many of the best users in the Asari military. He didn't know how strong the Asari Commandos were, but being compared to the best there was easily understo
