This is my first attempt at a pumpkin that isn't your standard scary face (I'm quite a traditionalist that way!) and who better to sculpt in orange vegetable than Garrus Vakarian from Bioware's video game Mass Effect? Took about three hours.
Brothers to the Very End is an emotional piece for all Gears of War fans. It is intended to signify one man's vision of a possible end to the game series' story...the ultimate sacrifice from four "brothers". What was once a beautiful countryside has become a makeshift cemetery littered with graves of fallen comrades.
The image contains mementos from all the core teammates: Marcus Fenix's famous skullcap, the photo of Dom Santiago and his wife, Damon Baird's goggles, and Augustus Cole's Thrashball helmet, all hovering around the centerpiece, a set of cogtags.
Tools used were Adobe Photoshop, Wacom tablet and Corel Painter.

Update 9/27/2011: After re-reading the Official Rules, I removed the title on the cross so that the entry would be eligible for the contest. If you want the original entry for personal use, please send me a note and I can give you the link to download it.
So... four years. I'm glad I've learned some things. I always thought this meme was pretty cool, so hey - why not give it a try?
I chose this one because... well. I believe the original was one of my first attempts at an entirely digital piece. In the GIMP. Several upgrades in software and hardware have certainly given me an edge over my old work, but boy... the things I've learned about lighting, color theory, volume, the structure of the human face ... granted; it's still rather stylized, but hey look! The mouth actually lines up properly! One of the funniest things about the old one, was the absence of the second eye - I just couldn't draw it at that angle, so I left it out! lol
Makes me wonder..... what will my work look like in another 4 years?
Here is my design for the mythical creatures t-shirt design challenge. I wanted to design something that would make the person wearing it almost part of the design, with a ripped design as if a dragon is emerging from beneath the t-shirt and wings at the back looking as if they are ready to emerge i tried to create the illusion of a dragon breaking free. I have created two types, one in red and one in green as i think both colours are quite striking and work well.
