I designed this carácter for a personal sci-fi project. I was inspired by the skin and the anatomy of a lizard to get a reptilian appearance.

Modeled with 3D Max 2011, rendered in VRay, textured with ZBrush and some postproduction with Photoshop CS5

Sword based off concept by Spug @ Polycount.

I plugged the info for the software on the image, but just incase someone missed it (it's pretty transparent).

Modeled in Maya 2012
Sculpting in Zbrush 4r5
Baked in xNormal
Textures in Photoshop cs6
Rendered in Marmoset Toolbag (realtime engine)

I used Quixel's dDo, which I do for most works. It speeds things up in that it does all the mask work I normally do on a global scale in 60 seconds instead of the 15-20 minutes it usually takes me. It also makes global color edits based on those masks, quick. So base colors and masks get set up in 5 minutes instead of an hour. Beyond that, all handpainting.

Textures are 512x1024
Diffuse, Specular, Gloss, Glow, Normal

Tri-count 10,346

I mirrored then entire texture to get the most bang for my buck so to speak.

Final render for a school assignment. Made in Maya 2012, with compositing/detail painting done in PS CS5. It's not actually modelled after a dodo bird, but the name seemed to fit.

The vast majority of 3D I do is in the realm of medieval/fantasy rather than robotic/futuristic, so it was really interesting to try something I don't usually do. Learned a lot!

This is a dungeon boss for Storm Legion I designed to fit an existing animation rig. Kind of a utility robot gone bad.

Maya, Zbrush, 3dCoat, Bodypaint, Xnormal, Photoshop, etc. Real time renders in Marmoset Toolbag.
