A (long awaited) commission that was finally completed, and mailed out to their new home today.
This has been a bit of a huge task for me - a lot of detail, and two rats together - it was a bit of a worry that they wouldn't hold together. Let's just hope they make it to their new home in one (or minimal ) piece(s)!
I'm not going to dwell on any negatives - overall it was a satisfying project and I've learned a lot, and I had a good deal of fun making these chaps - which I feel is important.
Super Sculpey over a wire and foil armature, painted with acrylics and sealed with Citadel Purity Seal. About 80 hours of work.
This hunky chap was a long awaited commission! He'd been sat half painted on my shelf for quite some time after finishing sculpting him.
He is a mink rat, but he is a rather browny mink - rather than the obvious blue sheen. I don't know much about rat varieties, I am slowly learning there is more than simply brown, black and white though!
I am quite happy with this one, but I have noticed I need to vastly improve my feet, making them more organic. It was also rather hard getting his 'rolls' in without insulting his memory.
Polymer clay over a wire and foil armature. Painted with acrylics and sealed with Citadel Purity Seal.
Commissions of 5-7 inch rats like this chap start at £105 GBP
