What I Would SayHey, hi, how are ya?What I Would Say2 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
Jeez, this is weird... I'm used to your icon,
and being able to think about what I'm going to say to you.
Ummm... Wow. So, how's Ruby?
I can see you have the eyes of a poet,
like a stormy sea, you know?
Of course I know what I'm talking about,
I'm a poet too, aren't I?
I'm a little weird, in case you haven't gotten it yet.
Does that put you off?
Wait, don't answer that.
Maybe I don't want to know.
Just kidding, of course. Maybe.
Do you know any French? I love it.
Sometimes I use it in everyday speech.
Si tu veux, I can teach you what I know...
But we'd need a lot more time for that.
Maybe someday at your cabin in the mountains.
We oughta collaborate sometime on a poem or somewhat.
I think that would be very cool.
What should the theme be, you think?
Ooh, remember when we did our firefly thing?
That was awesome.
Forgive my hopeless blathering,
I'm prone to it.
There's so much nothingness in my head
that I have to babble it all out
UnexpectedI saw the tenderness in your eyes the first time I saw you,Unexpected3 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
but you hid it so quickly I thought I only imagined it.
you made me pay for that.
If I think hard enough,
I can still feel the sting from
the slap you gave me,
and the dull ache in my shoulder
where you slammed your gun into my back
and told me to run, run,
across the burning land until my
legs ached and I could run no longer.
you tried to break me
The way you struck fear into our hearts
just by being near,
filled me with awe and wonder.
Your rough palms sanded our cheeks
and we ran from your leaden raindrops.
you were as cold as your gun
I used to fear the gunshots,
but now the sound of a bullet being discharged
brings me euphoria
becauseI know that you're coming to look after me.
You were right when you told me I was worthless,
but you were kind enough to make me into something better.
you are my Pygmalion
When I see you coming towards me

The Lovely Poem of DisdainThe Lovely Poem of Disdain1 year ago in Free Verse More Like This
My dream is to remain free:
It cannot be, why do you refuse to see?
I desire to be alone, should I have made this known?
I suffer from feelings I've condoned.
Personal curses unwelcome, you bring back some.
Can't you understand the angle I speak from?
No. This doesn't feel right, please hear my plight.
Shadow of doubt flayed with truthful light.
Same song? Same Dance. There was no chance.
All I'm asking for is compliance.
I respect you, but should you respect me too?
Sadly not. This is nothing new...
I help mend, I'm nothing but a friend.
It seems I'm seen as more, perhaps a trend.
Stop the trend, grind it to an end.
Your love is not for me, I have chosen who I want to be.
You may disagree.
But you only prolong your own misery...
Why??Why is there always, always that one person who has to make you feel dull?Why??6 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
That has to make you feel like you're not worth it,
That they're better than you,
That they can beat you at anything,
That they're better looking than you,
That they'd never look your way,
And you're okay with it?
Why is there always, always that one person who brings a blush to your cheeks,
Brings a flutter to your stomach,
Brings a smile to your face,
Brings forbidden thoughts to your mind,
Brings light to your eyes,
Brings small threads of fruitless wishes,
And you're okay with it?
Why is there always, always that one person that you want to want to love you,
Want to hold you,
Want to kiss you,
Want to want you,
Want to need you,
Want to drink you in until they're intoxicated by the very sound of your name,
In the same ways that you want them.

I can't keep it bottled up inside
I can't keep the blush from my cheeks
I want nothing more than mean more to you
than that girl from the other night
I want nothing more than to keep you here beside me
Close to me
I can feel your warmth just inches away
I hate that I can't touch you
I hate that I can't talk to you without stumbling
and looking like an idiot
Why are you so enigmatic?
Show me what you're feeling
Why can't you let me know what you're thinking?

We spent the early days playing and living together as friends, family. Some grew faster than others, and to them they graduated to the mature phase, not adults but no longer mere children of the pride. The day when they would go out into the world and seek a form that would best suit them. Mother always told us that would be the day we discover who we really are.
And yet, while my legs and body have grown up along with them, and I matured to that phase myself, I am left wondering still: What shall I become in this world? We can take any form we wish, and only then will we become adults, but there is no turning back in

I see a smiling little girl who stands on tiptoes.
Her daddy combs her hair,
she's singing, but not loud enough to hear.
she doesn't want him to know that she's a princess.
She's crying now,
her daddy is so mean.
He makes her do math.
She doesn't get it,
he's mean, he's mean, he's mean!
She grins again,
daddy's taking her fishing.
Her mom brushes her hair,
smooths it under her little baseball cap.
She's lost two teeth.
Her brother called her jack-o-lantern,
and she pretended that it hurt her feelings.
She growls at herself,
she looks so funny.
She's looking at her body for the first time,
She pinches her stomach between two fingers and declares that she's
Daddy's not allowed in the bathroom anymore.
She's lost weight.
Most of the fat is gone,
but she's still crying because it's not enough.
Her mom lies, she's not beautiful.
Her dad never told her she was pretty.
The Raw TruthI didn't want to fall for you,The Raw Truth2 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
nor did I mean to,
but it happened, and here we are now.
Look at what it's done to us, darling.
Look at how we scan the faces in a room
and pretend we didn't see each other.
Look at how we look away
every time we meet each other's gaze.
Look at how, after all these years,
I'm still afraid to ask about your life
because I don't want you to know that I care.
But I do.
A friend once told me that true love
isn't about possession.
And I agree.
But I don't want this love to be true,
because I want you to belong to me.
(Like I belonged to you...)
I hate the way I think I'm over you
until I see you and hear your stupid, obnoxious laugh
and see your ugly, squinched-up eyes,
and fall for you all over again.
I hate hurting because the man I loved
doesn't exist anymore.
He used to be kind, considerate,
and he would never hurt me.
But he's gone.
He's a stranger with your eyes now.
I deserve so much better than you,
but all I can think of when we're together
is the way

But you liked to cook,
and so did I.
We made love

I cut myself once

My blood spelled a warning on the countertop,

Your favorite dish was
one I couldn't make.
I could make love.
I couldn't make you love me.
We fought over whether rhubarb pie

I told you last week it needed both,

You did me wrong.
Don't think for a moment that I can't hurt you,

Crawl back into your hole, you snake.
I will harm you,
but my bites won't leave a mark.
You thought you were better than me.

My Perfect Dream
I see you in my dreams most every night,
a bundle of joy within my sight.
Your soft to touch,
you smell so sweet,
my heart skips a beat.
Those tiny fingers curling into balls,
those bright eyes heavy with sleep,
that button nose so small, so cute.
No harm can you do to brake my love,
no words that you shout can crush my heart.
You are my perfection,
You are my joy and my missing piece.
You are my perfect dream.

You disgust me, human scum.
You are the lowest thing to ever crawl the earth,
and I hate myself for ever loving you.
I must have been blind!
The smirk you wear in pictures,
the one I used to think was handsome
turns my stomach now.
you vomitous mass.
I hate your eyes, too,
those teeny little slits that you see out of
skew your perception of right and wrong.
you warthog-faced buffoon.
You are disgusting.
When I look at you,
I feel a compelling urge to hurl.
I need to swish with battery acid to get your taste out of my mouth.
You are utterly revolting,
your cocky confidence and "I'm always right," attitude
makes me want to scream.
I must have been stupid to have fallen for you.
But that doesn't matter now.
I don't love you anymore
you filthy, sewer-dwelling creature of hell.
You thought you could use me and get away with it,
but you were wrong.

Baby's Got Her Blue Jeans On 2"Baby's got her blue jeans on."Baby's Got Her Blue Jeans On 23 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
That's what daddy used to sing every time she'd wear her overalls. She'd giggle and he'd swing her onto his shoulders.
"Baby's got her blue jeans on."
She'd never wear them unless she needed to. Most days she just ran around naked, splashing in the kiddie pool and fishing in the pond.
"Baby's got her blue jeans on."
Then Baby got older, and now she wears blue jeans all the time. She thinks they're comfy, and the boys like the way they hug her curves.
"Baby's got her blue jeans on."
She never meant to grow up. She didn't realize she was older until her blue jeans stopped fitting.
"Baby's got her blue jeans on."
But now she wishes she could still run around naked.

reminds me of when we were young,
and we'd race each other across the golden fields
until our lungs were near bursting
and our legs burned like fire.
your eyes remind me of the coolness
of the water in the creek,
how we'd swim, shivering, until
nightfall, when all the lightning bugs
would come out and sing to us under the stars.
your smile reminds me of the sunshine
that kissed us as we laughed
at nothing in particular,
and all the adults would stop and stare,
wondering what on earth we found so funny.
your laugh reminds me of the flowers
that we'd pick for the table,
the yellow daffodils and purple hyacinths
that i'd stick in my hair and close my eyes
as i smelled their sweet perfume.
you remind me of when we were young
and the world was a bunch of squiggly lines
just waiting to be made sense of,
and we'd laugh and sing together,
in the never-ending sunshine.

The queen lets down her silver hair,

Then with the dawn,
She wakes and yawns,
Then the fairies take the moon away,
And dance to welcome in the day.

The shackles do not bind humanity to Him.. They are an ensurance... They keep minds in equilibrium...
And that is why I was created... To break those shackles and unleash utter chaos...I exist to keep the balance...my purpose is to shake the shackles of humanity so that they do not rust... and a slight whisper of the Winds break them...
