One More DrinkAs I open the bottle, I always have hope,One More Drink3 years ago in Concrete Poetry More Like This
That this one will cure me and allow me to cope,
With all of my demons and a past life of sin,
And banish the gut wrenching dread that's within.
The warmth of it hits me and nerves start to calm,
Rushing through veins it works like a charm,
The visions and voices diminish and leave,
With the courage to face life, I once again breathe.
I see things now clearly, it wasn't my doing,
A victim of others, they all caused my ruin,
The drink just helped me to cope with their ways,
The stench of their venom, filling my days.
Invincible now, devoid of all fear,
The world is so hazy, but my vision is clear,
I shall stand up and regain all that I lost,
Make up for transgressions, whatever the cost.
I shall promise them all, I'm now a changed man,
And repay those I wronged wherever I can,
And as for the people who caused me to fall,
I'll take pleasure in seeking vengeance on all.
But first I shall sleep now just for a while,
I feel strangely weary filled wi

He is a God, or so he believes
He judges others and puts them into stereotypes
Asian? No life! Hispanic? Brainless!
He thinks he has control over his world
A delusion which he has never been able to break
Me? I'm better than them, I'm smarter...
He sits alone in his room, ignoring the emptiness
He sits in front of his computer and passes judgement
Lol, you're wrong. You're stupid. Everything is stupid!
He laughs and smiles at his own cruelty;
He feels powerful and most certainly superior to all
But in the end, it's just a fantasy isn't it?
He curls up in his bed, thinking about tomorrow
Here, he's a king, but out there, what is he?
The guy, whose girlfriend dumped him
The guy, whose boss is younger and smarter
The kid, who has nothing to live for
The man, who has lost it all...
Arrogant and apathetic, cold from a lack of warmth
That is his very nature, that is who he really is
He has nothing to live f
The illusion of realityIs this the real world we see?The illusion of reality3 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
Or is it just an illusion of reality?
Will death be the thing to set us free?
Or is that just a weird mentality?
Is life just an illusion?
Do we perhaps preserve things differently?
And is this all just a big delusion?
We want the people to think free
But can they be free if they need to follow the rules?
Can they break free,
Without being branded as fools?
If we want to know more
And learn the real truth
We have to venture in the unknown more

I didn't say a word;
I saw you cry

I shouldn't be around;
For my own sake
I should have fought
to keep your feelings sound.
Please, listen to what's not being said.
Bag Of DreamsI once knew a boyBag Of Dreams2 years ago in Urban & Spoken Word More Like This
Who carried his dreams on his back
And kept them together
In a burlap sack,
Which he hoisted
Usually in the same way
That he came,
With a bag full of dreams
A back full of pain
And with nowhere left to stay.
Though so small
carried it all
Without a single complaint,
While his legs seemed to stall
And continually tried to fall
At every bump in the road.
But on the boy walked
He could not be stopped
On his quest to keep his dreams.
So to help him along
I sang him a song
And so sweet
It became a lullaby
And slowly shut his eyes
So he could finally go to sleep.
And while he slept on the ground
I made not a sound
While I approached the burlap sack,
I made small tear
So some dreams
Could escape, if they dare.
I just wanted to help
That bag was too heavy
For any boy to wear.
I knew this
This I did.
So when he awoke
And started to choke
As he realized
That his dreams were gone
They had long since died,

Mr. Ted by my side,
And listen hard for the thing
That crawls around outside.
He'll start with the scratching,
It's always the same,
His claws carving the face
Of the wooden door frame.
Then he'll move onto the blood
Seeping beneath my door,
Dripping from the walls,
Covering the floor.
The wardrobe will squeak,
Those green eyes appear,
Voices will whisper
Dark words in my ear.
Their dead hands will tug
At the edge of my sheets
And insects will crawl
All over my feet.
I lay and wait
For their games to begin.
But tonight will be different,
I whisper with a grin,
Tonight I will show
Those monsters a scare.
They can come back again,
IF they dare.
Are You Alright? Are you alright? Are You Alright?3 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
You've asked me this so many times,
And the answer is always 'yes'.
Quite frankly, why do you care?
What if the answer is no?
Do you care then?
Am I alright?
I've never really thought about it.
It's easier to be happy than to
Think about all the reasons I'm not,
Easier than thinking of you.
I still remember when you grabbed my hand.
An unusually casual gesture for
Someone you don't know,
But that is when I fell for you.
That's when I was happy
Before I started crying.
The crying came later.
The crying came the day after
You told me I was the only one for you,
That you couldn't be without me.
And I believed you.
The crying came the day you ripped
My heart out of my chest and carried
It with you as you walked away.
And you have still never returned it.
Am I alright?
No, I don't think so.
I'm not sure if I ever was.
I told you how I loved you before
You left, but you didn't care.
And you don't now.

Don't look at me.
Don't talk at me.
You can't see me.
I want to close my eyes and invade in my inner city.
Don't dare wake me.
Please hold onto me…
No… you can't see me.
Yes you do see me…
I'm so blind that I'm chaotic.
Wake me! Embrace me! Please!
Can you really see me?
I do want to go to bed.
I'm so weary…
Hold me please…
You can't see me…
Don't mock me…
Please help me…
I won't be able to speak of logic.
I am emotional.
I can't feel me.
I can't hear me.
Look at me…
Don't fret, and just hold me.
Please… even though… we can't see me.

No, not that big.
Show a few teeth...
There, that's more like it.
Go wash your face,
Your cheeks are less flushed,
So rejoin your friends.
Someone just told a joke,
Let the sparkle reach your eyes,
Now no one'll notice they're red and puffy.
"Hey, how are you?"
Tell them you're good
and re-direct the question to them.
You're too quiet,
and your mind is wandering...
Join the conversation.
Don't forget to
Don't forget to
and they wont suspect a thing...

It is a decision of choices...
Admit it, you,
And even I have said I've had the worst...
Said life is horrid and
Not deserving of my presence.
But then something changed it all.
There is hope,
There can be change,
We just need to be the ones to change it...
Do not ignore this...
Spread the word.
World peace will not happen overnight,
But the first step will.

Sometimes, I have to rinse my mouth out because of that. I still have their taste on my tongue. Hers and his and yours.
I can't get rid of this and start scratching my tongue with the sharpest words I can find.
Piano Strings. Thorns. Glass. Edges. Fear. Grasp. Coldness. Heart ache. Claws. Saturn. Lemons. Tango Argentino. Summer Camp. Lips. Beer. Razors.
But now the taste is a composition of other peoples' souls and an aeruginous copper coin.
Like tea brewed with sewerage and withered moments. That and 300 grams full of blood.
I try to fight fire with petrol and end up in an uncomfortable faint. Deep inside this labyrinth [made of scratches and furrows]. It is the maze of my dreams. And my hands are filthy and viscid from what I found in their shadows and corners.
I'm lost. . . a g a i n.
Lock me up in my core, where everything is possible except an escape.

She waits for him
at the gates that stood when even the world crumbled
knowing that her own name will soon be forgotten
Where once she carried the weight of the world
now her strength is but the tiniest whisper
A single spark, left to crackle amongst the shades
until all is lost in the endless folds of time
It's getting colder
though she still continues to stand by the gates
She is getting older
and thus her memories must fade...
Angels gather to watch her in these final moments
and they bow their heads as a sign of respect
For even now, as the life leaves her body
Still she continues to wait...

I'm far more delicate than your mother's finest vase filled with artificial flowers and love to the brim.
I can shatter with the tiniest mistreatment.
I try to hide away in the darkest labyrinths; it's to keep myself safe.
I fear being broken once again.
I've been down that jagged path, I don't want to do it again.
But then a light finds my safe place; Awe replaces fear.
The light isn't so bad, it's soothing even.
For months we do this tango of love and grace.
I thought I could finally be safe again in the arms of a total stranger, who transformed into my lover.
Some things I didn't understand about you, but I let them go.
Your light was dangerous, it blinds from the truth.
I found that out far too late.
I'd fallen and shattered, and awaited for you to pick up the pieces.
Finally I realized that you never would.
You're empty inside; never to be satisfied.
Not even the deepest love could fill the holes in your heart.
I was a fool to fall and now I'm living with the

That's somebody's mother.
Who was beaten and raped by another
Individual who couldn't control their seedy sexual desires.
Just because you can't smell the stench of burning skin.
Doesn't mean this world isn't intrinsically on fire.
That's somebody's daughter.
Who was kidnapped, molested and tortured.
By another who couldn't control their dishevelled cravings.
Super heros do not exist in this reality.
Does that mean this world is not worth saving?
That's somebody's father.
Who was shot by another individual who would rather
Resort to violence to settle a trivial dispute.
The things humans can do to each other.
No one can deny this world is not filled with ill repute.
That's somebody's son.
Who was a victim of a hit and run
Situation that should never had occurred.
His family are now seeking solace from a church.
But can anyone really say that in the end
We all get what we deserve?

in the moss and twigs, scattered like finger-bones,
your spine ripped out, curved like a bow.
I couldn't find your heart, trembling
against the opened cage of your ribs,
under the gently speaking rustle,
leaves unfurling, the dance of sunlight
slinking between your vertebrae:
piccolo skims and birchskin shaves.
I fled. Your right shoulder blade beckoned still,
unfolding like the slow feathers of a wing,
your wrist flung out, palm
up, gasped my name,
but I could not stay, only
strained your skin with oleander tea,
drifted, drifted with the tumbleweed,
the blind breath of the wind:
and I had tasted God, birdsong on my tongue,
soaring, sweeping, sweet and free.

These social facts that are hereditarily consumed.
This holy reasoning that can never be disputed.
A uniformed mass that are complacently suited.
Have you ever questioned?
Why things are, the way they are.

Facilitates life which revolves around an incandescent star.
How on this one planet both good and evil thrive.
And god's subjects commit sinful, selfish acts just to survive.
How the quantity of printed paper assures your material stability.
And the lack of it limits your social and mental mobility.
How our faith is based in an invisible, omnipotent director.
And tragedies occur despite the presence of this all knowing protector.

Everything that you know and believe.
And that what ever the human mind can conjure.
It can actually achieve.
Have you ever questioned?

Someone hate me, someone take me,
Just beat me,
Until I see hell...

We lay her down upon the altar
With chains to hold her hands and feet.
She will not stir and she will not speak;
Our eyes she will not meet...
This girl was made for a single purpose
She is here to serve in death.
A simple container of blood and flesh
Soon to be robbed of breath.
Our hands bear the ancient markings
Scars we open with trembling hands.
For the scent of our blood shall awaken him;
The sleeping lord of our land...
With heads pressed to the dirty floor
We cower in fear at the Raven's cry.
For the bird shall serve as the master's herald;
And none would dare to meet his eye!
Cold and lifeless, red with blood,
He stands among us as an angel sanguine.
His wings are coated in coal-like feathers,
Black as a banshee's scream...
'Bring me the girl,' he whispers darkly
As we scurry quickly to meet his command.
He cups her chin with slender fingers,
And her life he does demand...
She gives it freely, offering her neck
And he bites it with

You could just disappear without a trace.

It's always there but you don't know why.
You're just a part of a bigger whole,
And your heart is as black as coal.
You play dress-up with your top hat and cane,

It's a source of their contempt and your despair.
You could just disappear right now,
