The rays of brightest autumn sun
A blessing sent down from the sky
On two of hearts beating like one
The shiny flames meant to be spun
And twirled into rings - they will tie
My love, your dearest soul to mine
Beyond the rest of our days
They'll seal our bond in grace divine
And in a glance they shall outline
Our future shrouded in a haze
Where you'll go I will follow you
Through joy and pain that's ours to bear
Each day I'll fall for you anew
I swear that I'll always stay true
To your love that's beyond compare
You are what I was looking for
And found you dormant in my heart
There you will stay forevermore
While I will protect and adore
You as my noblest, purest part
My darling, I do hope and pray
For that you'll never leave my side
Then vows of this September day
May guide us, light up our way
God help us by them to abide
Oblivion Snow....Oblivion Snow....2 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
Today is the usual morning, coffee, table, cheese and sandwiches. Nothing new all as always. Although if I think amazing always near.
Everything started in one of today. My coffee was grim, my sandwich fell down, my favorite eternally hungry cat ate my meat salad. Morning was possible on glory. At clock is 7.15 AM and that means that Mr. Fitsenberg waiting for me with the threat of of lowering wages at the work. Do you think it's fiction, no just the reality of my day. In haste, I packed up and ran out of the house. The key, as always, stuck and a couple of minutes spent on his return to the bosom of nature. Closing the lock, I went straight to the garage. On the street was wet snow. I was a little uncomfortable in my clothes. Hit me something sticky and wet in the head. After a couple of ridiculous movements, I decided that with my ground circle of view is much higher than in the fall and

A promiseKelly stared up at the sky, watching as the clouds passed by. They had spent the last couple days on the island, after making it so that Mendez's men couldn't get to them. Since there was no real threat the trainees were using it as a chance to relax a bit. This was why Kelly was laying in the grass along the edge of the lake. "I think that one looks like a rabbit." She pointed toward one of the clouds.A promise4 years ago in Sci-Fi More Like This
John moved his head over a bit so that he could get a better view of where he was pointing. "That definitely looks like a goat." He pointed to a cloud a bit to the right. "That one looks more like a rabbit."
"Do you even know what a rabbit looks like? That is totally a whale." Kelly pushed his head a bit away from her. She turned toward him and was surprised to find his face close to his. At thirteen it was hard to ignore the hormones that reacted to how close he was. She was going to say more but it was lost as they lay in the sun just staring at each other.
John turned so that he was
Blue 4 PrologueThe land was desolate and broken, nothing but glass where no life was fit to live. The land was impossible to recognize, possibly any of the many glassed planets. A cold wind rushed over the land and Kelly wrapped her arms around herself. She sat on the hard ground, staring out at the death and destruction before her. This was the legacy of the war, what was left behind by a quarter of a century of fighting.Blue 4 Prologue3 years ago in Sci-Fi More Like This
Kelly curled up a bit more as the cold soaked into her bones. She wished that she had her armor, something to keep the cold out. She felt something rest on her shoulders and she was wrapped in warmth. Kelly reached up to her shoulder and she felt the cloth of the blanket. She looked back and could see him standing behind her. "Thanks." He smiled and she held a hand out to him. He shook his head and Kelly frowned. "Sit with me."
He shook his head again, taking a step back. Kelly stood up, turning toward him. He took a few more steps back and Kelly just watched him. She didn't know w

A visitA visit4 years ago in Sci-Fi More Like This
John set the mug down on the table and sat down in the chair across from his guest. He sat up straight, unable to push down the reflex. When he'd arrived John had fought the urge to salute the man. He was a higher rank than his guest, sure, but he held so much respect for the man that he felt he needed to do it. He was at a loss for words, not sure how to start a conversation.
He was just as John always remembered him. Strong, professional even in a personal situation. He was the one thing that never seemed to change. Over the years Doctor Halsey had become softer, less of the woman who was willing to do anything as she had been when the Spartan II program had started. The band of silver hair around his head had spread to most of his hair though there were a few black hairs left. He wore a simple duty uniform, his chest vacant of the many ribbons that were usually there. John could see that the years had taken some toll on him. There were wrinkles where there hadn't been in the past. S

Kelly frowned down at her daughter. She couldn't tell if the dirt that smudged the kid's face was because she hadn't washed up or because it was part of her costume. "All right, where did you get the armor?"
Catherine grinned, clutching the ODST helmet under her arm. The seven-year-old wore an almost exact replica of ODST signature armor but it was small enough it fit her. "Grandpa helped me."
Kelly sighed, she should have known. She turned to see Avery walking into the kitchen. "And just who are you supposed to be?"
Avery tugged at the collar of his long black coat. "I'm the doctor." He grinned like a mad man. He looked cocky and his hair was slicked back.
"Doctor who?" Catherine asked.
"Exactly!" Avery grinned, holding out his arms so the two females could fully see his costume. He wore a black shirt and black pants. Sunglasses hung around his neck from a chain that most people would use to keep reading glasses close at hand. The only color to the costume was a crimson and sapphire s
Remember ReachA wise man once said that the natural state of man is war. Peace, he added, is just a time for preparation.Remember Reach5 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
I don't think anything could have "prepared" us for what happened, though maybe Armageddon. Yeah. Armageddon might have whipped us into shape.
Harvest fell. In a storm of fire and alien hatred, it fell, and millions of lives fell with it.
Nobody saw it coming. I mean, there are spooks and spies and masterminds high up in the hush-hush intelligence bracket, but I doubt even the smartest sleuth out of all of 'em could have seen the way it played out. It just happened. It happened, and all we could do was sit there, paralyzed, during the whole ordeal.
Correction: not all of us sat there and gaped like fishes. A few good men and women went to do something about it. They were the bravest of the brave the cream of the crop, as my grandmother would put it. They went into the valley of the shadow without a second thought, doing their duty to protect and preserve their f
Six meets the 0051stThe entire camp seemed to be abuzz. John watched as the crowd was gathering, not knowing what they were all so excited about. The pelican was landing in the field and for some reason it had gotten the attention of all of the soldiers. "What's the big deal?" John looked over as Sam walked over. "They act like another Spartan is arriving."Six meets the 0051st4 years ago in Sci-Fi More Like This
"Haven't you heard?" They both looked over at Petey as he walked up. "They said there's some new soldier coming in. For all we know it will be another Spartan."
John moved toward the pelican. If it was another Spartan he was eager to see them again. Being here around these soldiers had made him realize how much he missed the Spartans. If there was one he wanted to be the first to meet them. "Where are you going?" He looked over as Sam ran to keep up with him.
"I'm going to see if it's a Spartan." John's voice was flat, not giving away that he was eager for it to be another Spartan.
Dunny came running up to them grinning. The group stopped and waited fo
Happy BirthdayKathleen was awake before the person reached her cot. Her fingers slowly curled to grip the knife under her pillow. The person didn't seem hostile so she decided to wait to see what the person would do. She felt lips press against her bare shoulder and she only had one guess as to who it was. "Go back to sleep, Will. I already told you no." She was sure to keep her voice quiet enough that she wouldn't wake any of the other Spartan trainees.Happy Birthday4 years ago in Sci-Fi More Like This
Lips brushed over her ear before he spoke. "Does Will often come to you in the night and kiss your shoulder?" Kathleen was surprised to find it wasn't the voice she'd expected. She looked to the source and stared into Fred's slightly annoyed gaze. He was sitting on the cot beside her, leaning over so his face was only centimeters from hers.
Kathleen replied in her usual way, not ever thinking. She put up her automatic defense and teased him. "I should have known it was you. It's not usually my shoulder." Fred's gaze became more annoyed at the commen

Carter stood in the briefing room, a bit nervous. He'd been pulled aside by Lieutenant Ambrose and Chief Mendez. They hadn't told him why he was here, they hadn't told him anything other than to wait. He was starting to wonder if he was in the right place when the door slid open. It was not the Lieutenant as he had hoped, but rather a female Spartan that he did not recognize.
The female Spartan stopped and looked at him. "I'm sorry, I must have the wrong room."
The woman had an accent that Carter couldn't quite identify. "Conference room B?" The woman nodded. "You've got the right room. You have any idea what this is about?"
The woman shook her head. "No, I was only ordered to come here." She moved into the room and stood a few feet away from Carter. "You have any idea what this is about?" Carter shook his head. "Great, standing in a room with a stranger for an unknown reason." She crossed her arms and looked away from Carter. "Kat." Carter tilted his head to the side, frowning in conf

The next morning John was not a happy camper. Not only had the soldiers drilled him about Kelly the day before, but the guys had asked very personal questions about his relationship with Kelly. He'd been so glad that he could shut himself into his room, not that they hadn't stood outside of the door and tried to ask him questions from the other side for a few minutes.
He's snuck out early so as to avoid any that might try to catch him and ask him questions before their daily training. He was looking for Shar, though he didn't know where she had stayed the night before. When he finally found her she was near the water spouts. He was surprised to find her in the familiar dark green pants but rather than the light green shirt that most of the other soldiers wore she wore a white tank top.
"Seems you've settled in." John scowled at her, letting her know he was unhappy with her.
Shar looked to him and frowned. "Seems the focus of my mission has no desire to hurry
StoriesThe three Spartans sat in silence. There was an odd feeling in the air between them. The Spartan II fidgeted for a moment. "So, what were you and the Commander fighting about?" Jorge was trying to be casual with the question, but from how Kat had shouted at Carter to leave her alone it wasn't really a casual question.Stories4 years ago in Sci-Fi More Like This
Kat glared at him, still a bit mad from her argument with Carter. "Just a question he's been asking me since we first became teammates."
Emile chuckled. "I can think of several things I'd ask you to do the first time I saw you." He leaned a bit on the table. "Though considering it's the Commander, I'm guessing you he keeps asking you to marry him."
Kat glared at him. "You seriously need to shut up." She was obviously not in the mood for Emile's teasing. "He's asking the same thing that most of you damn Alpha Company Spartans seem to ask me."
"Oh, So you mean he was asking you about your old teammates again?" Emile relaxed a bit. "When will he learn to let that subject go
Blue 4 Chapter 1Kelly took in a deep breath as the chemicals worked their way out of her system. The hatch opened and she leaned forward, coughing up the clear liquid that supplied nutrients while in cryo. Infinity would be coming out of slip space soon and the crew was being awoken to prepare. Once her lungs were clear of the mucus-like liquid, Kelly made a quick pass through the showers before she grabbed her clothing and got dressed into the black under layer of her armor. Fred and Linda joined her a couple seconds later, Fred still coughing up a little of the liquid. Kelly was already off down the catwalk before they even got dressed.Blue 4 Chapter 13 years ago in Sci-Fi More Like This
The line of armor stations was a bustle of activity, gearing up the Spartan IVs. Officers shouted orders at their soldiers and carts of weapons were being pushed around so that people could grab their combat gear. Kelly moved to one that wasn't being used, the one that was specifically set up for the more advanced and expensive Mark VII armor that the Spartan IIs wor

John leaned against the window sill, looking down from the roof. There were a few wandering about the open grounds but they had no idea that anyone was in the building. In the dark night they'd turned off all the lights, making John all the more thankful for his enhanced night vision.
There was a sound behind him and the rifle shifted in his hands. He stopped as he saw the source. "Hey." he was too tired to say more.
"Hey, I'm here to relieve you." Linda moved over to the window. She looked out, eyeing the ones nearby. "They seem to be rather inactive tonight."
John stood up and handed the rifle over to Linda. "Maybe they found something else to keep their attention." He moved out of the room, not wanting
