I feel extremely fortunate that weather treated me well throughout my Pyrenees trip, even though I didn't particularly enjoy the 113F on the way in Lleida.

This is the view from Port de Ratera as the sunset light hits the Serra de Saboredo crest, at roughly 2,600m above sea level with flowering Globularia trichosantha (Globe Daisy) in the foreground.

Warm early morning sunlight lifts the cold night's veil of fog high in Aigüestortes y Sant Maurici National Park in the Spanish Pyrenees. A dead, withered pine tree stood out against the bright flare lightening up the valley. Dead trees like this one can be constantly found at the higher altitude plateaus throughout Aigüestortes and are a constant reminder of the powerful forces of nature, lightning strikes in this case.

Mt Assiniboine Provincial Park

Sunset light hits the shores of Lake Magog while Mt. Assiniboine, the Canadian Rockies "Matterhorn" towers in the background. While I was taking this photo I had to sit through 2 rain storms and a hail storm!

The 10,911 ft (3,326 m) Cathedral Peak towers over Upper Cathedral Lake and much of Yosemite National Park like an ancient sanctuary. During a colorful late August sunset the western slope picks up the last light of the day, as seen from the granite blocks 130 feet above the lake's surface and a deer browsing in the meadow to the left of the lake.

While in the distance the peaks of Matterhorn Peak, Twin Peaks, Camiaca Peak (most distant, right behind Fairview Dome) and Sheep Peak (left to right) loom just as majestically over Yosemite National Park and the Sierra Nevada range.
