Well here's the next piece in my white series (that's what I decided to call it...I know where do I come up with such unique titles lol): Superman!!!

This was a challenging piece first and foremost because I wanted to really capture Superman. I wanted him to be iconic in his pose, but also have a look that wasn't too intimidating (he is the all-American boyscout after all). Then it's a matter of capturing his face, and since this is my first time painting him it was a real challenge. I'm also attempting to approach my paintings in a slightly different manner, mainly keeping them a little looser with my brush strokes.

Also, you'll notice that while I decided to stick with his traditional outfit, I did do a couple of minor additions (see if you can find them :). Otherwise I was mainly drawing from influences such as Christopher Reeve's Superman and the Superman of the late 90's animated series and the Justice League animated series of the early 2000's.

Anyways, I'm not sure if I really captured what I wanted fully but we're never really where we want to be in our art. That's why we're constantly chasing that goal of perfection, even though we never really can touch it :)

I'll post a link to an animated GIF of my process tomorrow. For now enjoy!

In honor of "The Dark Knight Rises" opening this Friday, I decided to do a Batman inspired piece. I wanted to do something that mixed the "Nolan Batman" with the Arkham City Batman, and the Batman from the 90's animated series on Fox. Those all are some of the best interpretations of Batman in my opinion :) Enjoy!

P.S. This is the first in my White Series...more to come soon!

This is, I believe, one of the best commissions that Eric has ever done. I just fell in love with his rendition of Wonder Woman, so I had to pay tribute and do what I do. I hope y'all like the colors!

Drawn by my wife Renae De Liz

Inks & Colors by me!

My wife and I have collaborated on many books (her penciling, me inking and coloring) such as:

Peter S. Beagle's "The Last Unicorn"
Anne Rice's "Servant of the Bones"
Alex Archer's "Rogue Angel"
Jennifer Love Hewitt's "Music Box"

She's also drawn Sonic the Hedgehog, sketch cards for Lord of the Rings, Hellboy, Marvel & DC, and many more. And last year, she created and managed the all-female comics anthology WOMANTHOLOGY, with all proceeds going to charity.

I found this incredible line art in :iconstephaneroux:'s gallery and I just had to take a crack at it. First time I colored Wondar Woman.

Stephane's linart inspired me to try an Adam Hughes' type approach, with his kind of color palette. I'm no Adam Hughes, but I think it came out reaonably nice.

Hope you dig :)

EDIT: Made some changes to her gauntlets, stars and colors following some critiques from some incredible colorists. (thanks for the help)
