The DeviantArt Mobile App: What's to ComeWith the newly introduced DeviantArt Mobile App for Android and iOS, our goal was to bring you a better, fresher, yet familiar DeviantArt experience — providing more power to do what you want and, more importantly, create deeper connections between your friends and favorite artists. We have plenty of plans for the future — including Notes and Push Notifications, which didn’t make it into the first version — and we want to hear what you’d like to see next to help shape the future of the app.The DeviantArt Mobile App: What's to Come4 months ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This

New deviantART ThumbnailsIn the weekly Site Updates, we've been telling you all about the changes that have been launched to deviantART, getting your feedback, and reporting all the bugs that have been fixed.New deviantART Thumbnails3 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
This change is a little different, since it involves a feature that has been in place for a long time. We think it deserves an announcement of its own, ahead of time.
The current deviantART thumbnails (the smaller versions of deviations) have served the community well for years; however, there's always room for improvement.
Some of the problems with existing thumbnails are: they leave a lot of blank space around them, there isn't a lot of room for text for literature deviations, and the thumbnails don't present very tall/wide images well.
The New Thumbnails
Now, we've created a new style of thumbnail, which hopes to solve a lot of these problems.
We've made all thumbnails bigger! We're showing them in tidier row
How correctly install GDIPPHi, i receive a lot of messages by people who want install GDIPP( cause GDI++ is crappy!!), so here is the good way:How correctly install GDIPP4 years ago in Personal More Like This
➊ Install GDIPP 0.7.6 in Registry( not in services, you will see it during the installation) , download: http://code.google.com/p/gdipp/downloads/list
➋ Copy the 2dll's in "C:\Program Files\gdipp" to "C:\Windows\system32"( for 64 users: 4 dll's: "sytem32"( for 64 bit dll's)+"syswow64"( for 32 bit dll's) ), like: http://img11.hostingpics.net/pics/423903436372Capture.png
➌ Restart( done)
Edit ( 12 oct 2012):
Now, i use 0.9.1 version, it works better and no replacement of dll needed ( only install it and go..!), if you use Firefox or other: uncheck "material acceleration..." in Firefox ( or other) options!!
If some characters look a little craps in some applications: make an exeption in "C:\Program Files (x86)\gdipp\gdipp_setting.xml" with your notepad.

Is Anyone Out There?
Each year he makes his migration south from the Aleutian Islands to a breeding area in the Pacific Ocean parallel to Central California, looking for a mate. Unlike other blue and fin whales, his more than 6000 miles a year round-trip swim is a solitary one. He does not travel along with the blues or the fins, because he is neither. He is most probably either a hybrid blue

Animation techniques and more Ghibli thoughtsIn my last journal I mentioned the strange effect of seeing super cartoony flat characters moving around in a hyper realistic world. There's actually a name for this, it's call the "masking effect" and it was quite elaborately detailed by Scott McCloud in his book "understanding comics."Animation techniques and more Ghibli thoughts3 years ago in Personal More Like This
In comics, frequently the main characters are portrayed as cartoony and simple, while backgrounds often get very detailed. The basic concept is pretty simple. The more cartoony a character is drawn, the more appealing and relatable it is to us as we can more easily imagine ourselves in the role. The more realistic something is, the less of a personal connection you have to it. This is why villains tend to be drawn more realistically, and heros more cartoony. But it goes beyond just the characters... the environment also is affected.
If a person in a cartoon picks up a sword and starts swinging it around, the sword becomes an extension of their body and since it's animated, it becomes a drawn thing whic
Stratiform 3 NewsI know I said we'd have this out 25 days ago (LOL), but I forgot I had exams and assignments due for uni. The important thing is, we have been getting a nice bit of work done now that we are free. Here's some stuff you should / might like to know:Stratiform 3 News3 years ago in Personal More Like This
• The UI will be entirely Metro, unless we decide to add the ability to change Stratiform's UI at the last minute (which probably won't happen).
• In FF15, all the button styles will have borders like they always did, except of course the default buttons.
• We finally utilised some attributes that have been available in recent FF versions that allow split menu buttons (like the Greasemonkey button) to function as you would expect. Instead of the entire button being highlighted when you hover over the dropmarker, only the dropmarker section is.
• Tabs on bottom code will be REMOVED, as Mozilla is discontinuing tabs on bottom. We will not be adding it back unless we go crazy and manually add the feature back ourselves (way t
Colorlicious 1.2 UpdateHey guys,Colorlicious 1.2 Update2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Ben and I have released an update to Colorlicious. It now supports the latest versions of Firefox, and works on Linux and Mac OS X.
A few things to note:
Reworked the UI again. Finally got around to making a new color picker! This one should eventually make its way into Stratiform. Some options work with UX, depending on how much they change I might be able to maintain compatibility.Linux toolbar buttons are system styled so Colorlicious currently doesn't color those. You can import and export multiple presets.
Koding.com IRC?For the last couple of months I've been learning and working with nodejs and socket.io. Recently been thinking about IRC and studying commands/methods/logic for a IRC Server. 3.Very stable IRC Server Emulator with a interesting list of commands.
4.Open to use ffor anyone who wants to join and chat!
5.Always under going development to expand the list of usable commands within the server.
Host: 188.8.131.52 or grimmirc.koding.com
Port: 6667 (not needed with most irc clients since the port is default)
Note:I'll be in channel #general .

Pseutro 1.1.0 Is Gonna Be AwesomeYesterday I was hard at work on the stable version of Pseutro 1.1.0. I've still got the downloads bug to fix, and the dreaded dev tools (but I may skip that for now). Essentially I had a bit of a scare because all the CSS variables I used were using the old syntax, which is like this:Pseutro 1.1.0 Is Gonna Be Awesome1 year ago in Personal More Like This
var-test-variable: hsl(0, 50%, 25%);
But Mozilla changed it in Firefox 31.0 (currently in Nightly) to this:
--test-variable: hsl(0, 50%, 25%);
So I went through all of my variables and fixed them up, and I went through the entire theme and replaced most regularly used colours with CSS variables. This was essential for when I make the Pseutro Light version because it makes things so much easier, as I change the value of a variable in one place and it changes it everywhere in the theme, so switching colours from dark to light

TEXT GOES HERE
:iconohnoesplz:The new possibility on to start a donation pool is almost a dumb feature.More amd more people send notes or beg on the artist's pages for points.Mostly these are people you don't know, who never faved or commented anything you've made.
1 point is one cent. Will they really sell their pride for 1 cent? Just wondering.
The next step is to sell their souls. There are some guys on DA who sell their faves, features and comments for points. For 200 points, they fave your complete gallery, give you a feature and watch you.Is this the way should work? I don't think so.Can someone really be glad about faves he bought?
DA is a commercial page, and that's okay. But it shouldn't have so much "commercial" users.
I don't mean the users who start a donation pool to upgrade their groups. This is something that

[MacType] New font smoother for windowsHeya folks,[MacType] New font smoother for windows3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I don't know about you, but I was always sick of the default windows font rendering, that's why I used GDI++ with Windows XP and GDIpp with Win7, until a few months ago GDIpp worked great, but then there where a lot of compatibility issues (Google Chrome/Firefox).
Now I found this http://www.mediafire.com/?8cnc6v7z7w4e647 on a chinese board http://bbs.themex.net/forumdisplay.php?f=88 (yeah yeah yeah, at least with google translate I could read something )
Works awesome and you can switch language, still a pretty shitty translation, but great tools to create configs and it runs as a service.
Check it out

deviantART Favorites downloader is outWell, I finally released it.deviantART Favorites downloader is out4 years ago in Personal More Like This
I've been using it for some time now, and it look stable enough for me to publish it online.
What does it do? You see all your favorite you've been getting? Well, this software save them for you on your disk. Just put your username, or any other deviant username, and it will download all the favorite to your machine.
Very convenient to keep an offline copy of all the arts you love. You can even use the downloaded file for a slide show, screen saver or wall paper.
Personally, I have a gadget that display the arts taken from the download folder and play them in a small slideshow gadget
Get it at sourceforge @ https://sourceforge.net/projects/dafavdownloader/
**** Update ****
Version 1.0.1 has been uploaded.
It fix a validation issue with Windows 7/Vista when using the default location. Those using their own custom location (c:deviantART for instance) were unaffected.

Version 1.1.0 has been released.

Each week, a different gallery folder will be featured!
And note to seniors, please keep submitting your work! Otherwise we will run out of things to feature and that would be sad...
Designs and Interfaces needs submissions, there are currently none in there.
We had a gallery migration and not all deviations got moved, so please resubmit there!
I will feature it next time around. [After all other galleries!]

Involuntary TerminationThis entry is mirrored.Involuntary Termination10 years ago in Personal More Like This
By now half the "world" knows that I no longer "work" on deviantART. I can assure you that this is not some cruel practical joke. Many probably wish it to be one but, unfortunately, it is not.
What I am going to do here is offer up a small explanation, of sorts. Due to pending legal issues the specifics of the entire story are unable to be published by me.
This is a small explanation regarding the events leading up to the involuntary termination. I offer the truth, nothing more.
A few weeks ago I started dialogue with Angelo regarding some serious business matters. A number of issues that I had with deviantART, Inc. were bothering me so I thought it pertinent to make an attempt to remedy them.
I sat down and drafted an email to
