[MacType] New font smoother for windowsHeya folks,[MacType] New font smoother for windows3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I don't know about you, but I was always sick of the default windows font rendering, that's why I used GDI++ with Windows XP and GDIpp with Win7, until a few months ago GDIpp worked great, but then there where a lot of compatibility issues (Google Chrome/Firefox).
Now I found this http://www.mediafire.com/?8cnc6v7z7w4e647 on a chinese board http://bbs.themex.net/forumdisplay.php?f=88 (yeah yeah yeah, at least with google translate I could read something )
Works awesome and you can switch language, still a pretty shitty translation, but great tools to create configs and it runs as a service.
Check it out

I am haunted in this holiday season by the opening lines of Charles Dickens’s A Tale of Two Cities, his novel about a society 250 years ago coming apart in its seemingly irreconcilable divisions. Could it be these lines define where we have come to find ourselves today?
“It was the best of times,
it was the worst of times,

it was the age of foolishness,
it was the epoch of belief,
it was the epoch of incredulity,

Download my gallery! It's finally possible to download deviantART galleries with ease!Download my gallery!4 years ago in Personal More Like This
So, on the off-chance deviantART will shut down tomorrow, it'd be cool of you to download my gallery now and put it in your share folder. Plus, it's much nicer to browse through pictures when they're already downloaded to your computer.
Instructions: (these are for my gallery, but obviously you can use it for anything on deviantART)
1. Download the latest version of deviantART Favorites Downloader: http://sourceforge.net/projects/dafavdownloader/files/ (you'd need to have JRE installed if you don't already have it: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads )
2. Open the program, go to Preferences > Options
3. Type in Username: UndefinedError
4. Mark "Gallery"
5. In Download location put: C:\deviantART\%artist%\%title%.%ext% (replace "C:\deviantART" with your desired folder)
6. Click the "Proxy" or "Advanced" tab so you'll get an error. Ignore it and return to General tab. Now mark "Use same locat
Introducing the New NavigationIntroducing the New Navigation7 months ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
Explore the full range of DeviantArt.
With better organization and improved structure, our new navigation creates a more streamlined site experience. Features like Today, Undiscovered, and What’s Hot have been given more prominence, while the More menu is now easily accessible with its simplified, new look. The addition of infinite scroll on Daily Deviations allows you to quickly discover even more hand-selected deviations. This all adds up to more control over what you use most and makes it easier to discover great artists and their art.
The More menu, which was previously available next to the DeviantArt logo, has been better organized and moved to a more prominent and convenient location. This change was based on community feedback that its previous placement was hard to find, and its contents overwhelming.

Collection: Alternative UniverseCollection: Alternative Universe5 months ago in Art Features More Like This
The “alternative universe” has long been a sci–fi trope, usually simply a good–guy bad–guy heroes and villains reversal. Like the Star Trek episode (“Mirror, Mirror”) in which a transporter glitch lands Kirk on an evil pirate “parallel universe” Enterprise where Spock is a goateed murderer with mutiny on his agenda. But real scientists have complicated things considerably, with “string theory” positing at least eleven (and possibly an infinite number) of “alternative/parallel universes.”
Once upon a time, we pondered our relative insignificance as sin

But Is It Art?
Perhaps the eternally unanswerable question. But definitely something to chew on... When I first saw it, I was instantly captivated.
At first thought, what a brilliant example of modern pointillism! Has some unknown artist taken up the long abandoned banner of Georges Seurat and presented us with a new manifesto championing art as points of light illuminating our waking dreams?!

OK, I see now it’s not a painting at all, so my pointillism exuberance is dashed. It’s more likely one of those photo collages with thousands of small imag

How correctly install GDIPPHi, i receive a lot of messages by people who want install GDIPP( cause GDI++ is crappy!!), so here is the good way:How correctly install GDIPP4 years ago in Personal More Like This
➊ Install GDIPP 0.7.6 in Registry( not in services, you will see it during the installation) , download: http://code.google.com/p/gdipp/downloads/list
➋ Copy the 2dll's in "C:\Program Files\gdipp" to "C:\Windows\system32"( for 64 users: 4 dll's: "sytem32"( for 64 bit dll's)+"syswow64"( for 32 bit dll's) ), like: http://img11.hostingpics.net/pics/423903436372Capture.png
➌ Restart( done)
Edit ( 12 oct 2012):
Now, i use 0.9.1 version, it works better and no replacement of dll needed ( only install it and go..!), if you use Firefox or other: uncheck "material acceleration..." in Firefox ( or other) options!!
If some characters look a little craps in some applications: make an exeption in "C:\Program Files (x86)\gdipp\gdipp_setting.xml" with your notepad.
Icon customizer (fixed link)I made a mistake by posting the wrong link, here's the correct one: http://sta.sh/01pqycpmnbngIcon customizer (fixed link)1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I tried to write a simple icon customizer myself since there are no good free alternatives as far I know that don't require editing system files.
This icon customizer works with registry modifications and desktop.ini modifications, so it does not modify any dll files.
This icon customizer does not modify the following icons yet:
These icons can be customized with a .theme file or in Control Panel\Appearance and Personalisation\Personalisation\Change desktop icons.
The following icons can be customized:
Explorer icon (explorer.ico)*
folder icons (folder.ico, folder-back.ico, folder-front.ico)
Hard drives (hdd.ico)
Optical drives (optical.ico)
USB drives (usb.ico)
Documents Library (library-documents.ico)**
Music Library (library-documents.ico)**

New deviantART ThumbnailsIn the weekly Site Updates, we've been telling you all about the changes that have been launched to deviantART, getting your feedback, and reporting all the bugs that have been fixed.New deviantART Thumbnails3 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
This change is a little different, since it involves a feature that has been in place for a long time. We think it deserves an announcement of its own, ahead of time.
The current deviantART thumbnails (the smaller versions of deviations) have served the community well for years; however, there's always room for improvement.
Some of the problems with existing thumbnails are: they leave a lot of blank space around them, there isn't a lot of room for text for literature deviations, and the thumbnails don't present very tall/wide images well.
The New Thumbnails
Now, we've created a new style of thumbnail, which hopes to solve a lot of these problems.
We've made all thumbnails bigger! We're showing them in tidier row

Animation techniques and more Ghibli thoughtsIn my last journal I mentioned the strange effect of seeing super cartoony flat characters moving around in a hyper realistic world. There's actually a name for this, it's call the "masking effect" and it was quite elaborately detailed by Scott McCloud in his book "understanding comics."Animation techniques and more Ghibli thoughts4 years ago in Personal More Like This
In comics, frequently the main characters are portrayed as cartoony and simple, while backgrounds often get very detailed. The basic concept is pretty simple. The more cartoony a character is drawn, the more appealing and relatable it is to us as we can more easily imagine ourselves in the role. The more realistic something is, the less of a personal connection you have to it. This is why villains tend to be drawn more realistically, and heros more cartoony. But it goes beyond just the characters... the environment also is affected.
If a person in a cartoon picks up a sword and starts swinging it around, the sword becomes an extension of their body and since it's animated, it becomes a drawn thing whic

:iconohnoesplz:The new possibility on to start a donation pool is almost a dumb feature.More amd more people send notes or beg on the artist's pages for points.Mostly these are people you don't know, who never faved or commented anything you've made.
1 point is one cent. Will they really sell their pride for 1 cent? Just wondering.
The next step is to sell their souls. There are some guys on DA who sell their faves, features and comments for points. For 200 points, they fave your complete gallery, give you a feature and watch you.Is this the way should work? I don't think so.Can someone really be glad about faves he bought?
DA is a commercial page, and that's okay. But it shouldn't have so much "commercial" users.
I don't mean the users who start a donation pool to upgrade their groups. This is something that
Stratiform 3 NewsI know I said we'd have this out 25 days ago (LOL), but I forgot I had exams and assignments due for uni. The important thing is, we have been getting a nice bit of work done now that we are free. Here's some stuff you should / might like to know:Stratiform 3 News3 years ago in Personal More Like This
• The UI will be entirely Metro, unless we decide to add the ability to change Stratiform's UI at the last minute (which probably won't happen).
• In FF15, all the button styles will have borders like they always did, except of course the default buttons.
• We finally utilised some attributes that have been available in recent FF versions that allow split menu buttons (like the Greasemonkey button) to function as you would expect. Instead of the entire button being highlighted when you hover over the dropmarker, only the dropmarker section is.
• Tabs on bottom code will be REMOVED, as Mozilla is discontinuing tabs on bottom. We will not be adding it back unless we go crazy and manually add the feature back ourselves (way t
Pseutro 1.1.0 Is Gonna Be AwesomeYesterday I was hard at work on the stable version of Pseutro 1.1.0. I've still got the downloads bug to fix, and the dreaded dev tools (but I may skip that for now). Essentially I had a bit of a scare because all the CSS variables I used were using the old syntax, which is like this:Pseutro 1.1.0 Is Gonna Be Awesome1 year ago in Personal More Like This
var-test-variable: hsl(0, 50%, 25%);
But Mozilla changed it in Firefox 31.0 (currently in Nightly) to this:
--test-variable: hsl(0, 50%, 25%);
So I went through all of my variables and fixed them up, and I went through the entire theme and replaced most regularly used colours with CSS variables. This was essential for when I make the Pseutro Light version because it makes things so much easier, as I change the value of a variable in one place and it changes it everywhere in the theme, so switching colours from dark to light
