The team stood quietly by while she worked, but as the silence stretched, Robin began to fidget restlessly, shifting from foot to foot. Nightwing didn't fidget, but, like his successor, he betrayed his heightened anxiety in the way he grew stiller by turns. As one minute bled into two, he had grown as still as stone.
For my part, I could feel the tension knotting in my shoulders. Something inside of me coiled tightly as a spring, and an odd sensation close to nausea wormed its way into my gut. I didn't like this. Not one bit. I'd made my protests plain to the whole team, but they'd dismissed my discomfort as merely an artifact of my past.
In some respects, they were absolutely right. Cadmus still plagued me. Early on, when I had just joined the team, I'd had dreams of b
