"Absolutely not." Neji Hyuga stood in the dimly lit living room, utterly livid as he stared past his girlfriend. She looked up at him, brown eyes shimmering, her lower lip protruding slightly as she tried to get his attention with her ever successful puppy pout.
"Oh c'mon, Neji," Tenten sighed exasperatedly as she saw that he was not breaking his very fixated gaze on the fascinating wall sconce behind her. "It's not like they'll mean anything!" she yelled. He blinked, continuing to stare blankly into space. She threw her arms up in the air and stormed over to the dining room table to clean up the remnants of their unfinished dinner. Banging cutlery and hastily stacking plates, she stormed into the kitchen and slammed the dishes into the sink, not really caring whether or not she broke any. Neji watched her with careful eyes as she came back into the living room and grabbed her half empty wine glass from the table and turned to him, swirling the red liquid around slight
Birthday Presents NejiTen"So Neji" The young white eyed man looked over at his female teammate, stretched out on the grass beside him. They were on break from training, but while Tenten looked like a cat lounging in the warm summer sun Neji still had his propriety and sat in his meditation pose.Birthday Presents NejiTen3 years ago in Romance More Like This
"Yes Tenten?" He hated saying that phrase, because her reply usually got him into trouble. She smirked at him, not a good sign.
"Anything you want for your birthday?" Neji was surprised to see it was an innocent question like that.
"There's nothing in particular that I want. Don't worry yourself with it." He said apathetically, closing his eyes, signaling that he wished to meditate. Usually Tenten accepted that this was the end of the conversation, but today she was particularly stubborn. Getting up, the kunoichi sat right in front of Neji, staring at him until he finally opened his eyes as if to say 'what?'.
"There has to be something you want, it's your 18th birthday!" Tenten said, looking right into his pupiless eye

They told her the next day.
He's dead, they said. So sorry, they said.
He died protecting Hinata and Naruto.
He died honorably.)
Tenten doesn't know if she should cry or be happy. She knows Neji has always wanted this- the freedom of being able to choose when he dies, even though he'd given up his whole 'can't change your fate, sorry' attitude a long time ago. She should be happy for him.
But she's not. It doesn't matter that he died with a smile on his face, that he finally found peace, that he's free now.
For now, she just wants to be selfish.
Tenten doesn't cry. She feels the tears slip down her cheeks but she doesn't cry. She feels numb, freezing hot and burning cold and so numb like a thousand of her precious weapons have pierced her through and through, leaving her gasping and bleeding like he was.
They let her see the body, and something in her dies when she sees his smooth, blank forehead, where his juinjutsu used to be.

Cliches NejiTenI've always hated Romeo and Juliet. I mean how do you meet someone and instantly decide that they're the person that you would die to be with in heaven?Cliches NejiTen3 years ago in Romance More Like This
The famous 'star crossed lovers' only spoke to each other four times before they committed joint suicide. All the meetings (except for the fourth and there wasn't that much talking involved in that one) were very brief, and not particularly profound. Hell, they only spoke twice before pledging their undying love (give me a break) and decided to throw it all away to get married. Romeo was 16 and Juliet was 14, barely old enough to even procreate, and certainly not old enough to have a romance for the ages.
Romeo only cared about Juliet because she was pretty, the priest even told him off for his fickle emotion that could go from Rosaline to Juliet without even batting an eye.
My rant aside, you can clearly see my disdain for Romeo and Juliet and the whole concept of 'love at first sight'.
Yet the instant I saw him, heard the words come

Step by step, heart to heart, left right left. We all fall down, like toy soldiers.
Now they had one, and only one, second chance. That is all they have left now. The chance they had begged Kami-sama for. Their only chance they have left to fix the world, lives, and all futureshopefully for the better.
Sakura Haruno and Tenten each closed their eyes, waiting in the middle of the symbol that had been painted onto the floor in the middle of the Hokage's office. And now, brown-haired girl and pink-haired girl alike were waiting as they felt air beginning swirling around them in in fast, powerful gusts. Hearing what sounded like electricity crackling as the Fifth Hokage formed hand-signs to a jutsu so forbidden, that if anyone watched the process of it that wasn't the one who is casting it, they'd die on the spot. That's how powerful it was. It was also forbidden because it cost the user their life. But, that is something expected despite how ironic it is. I m

The girl woke to darkness, very little light in the room. She squinted her eyes, wondering how early it was. Sunlight was usually peeking its way through her bedroom curtains when she rose to get ready for the day. Maybe the day was going to be cloudy. The brunette pushed aside some of her bangs gone astray, pushing herself into a sitting position to have a quick glance around the room. As soon as her eyes rested on the other side of the room, her whole body tensed. The curtains were drawn shut, but just last night she had left them open a bit to have a view of the sky.
"Who's there?" the cautious girl called out, hand creeping under her pillow. Long fingers curled over a small handle as a thump came from the direction of the door. She drew out the kunai, holdding it defensively in front of her. Whoe

"Don't blame yourself Hinata." Tenten said eventually, her voice sounding horse and strained. Hinata nodded absently, Tenten's words were not taken to her heart as she knew it was her fault Neji was dead. "He wouldn't want it, and I don't want it."
"But Tenten-san, he was you special person." Hinata choked out. She had told her father and Lee and Guy sensei, but there was no one whose reaction she wanted to see less than Tenten's. The older girl put her hands over Hinata's.
"Yes, I love Neji with all my heart. This is why only I can abstain you from the guilt Hinata." Tenten took in another shaky breath and the Hyuga girl shook her head.
"I'm supposed to comforting you Tenten." Hinata said, looking into Tenten's

Lady Tsunade stared at them with bloodshot amber eyes, seeming absolutely exhausted even though it was barely ten in the morning. "I know that one of you is a jounin and the other two are chuunin, but..." She hesitated, fiddling with the files in front of her, making sure all edges aligned perfectly with each other as well as the sides of the desk before she looked up again. "I'm giving you a D-rank mission today."
Tenten fought back an impulse to twitch. D-rank? She searched her memory, flipping through her team's last few missions in an attempt to remember if any of them had done anything unforgivably horrible. Lee, of course, had been Lee: wildly loud and enthusiastic and himself; Gai, as always, an older version of Lee (or perhaps Lee was, instead, a younger version of Gai?); Neji his unflappable self: strong, silent, with that one vein in his forehead occasionally protruding from suppressed irritation

"These Kumo bastards are too fast!"
Tenten and Neji shouted at each-other as they sprinted, the scenery blurring past. They were going as quickly as they could, their sensei's training had ramped them up to a truly impressive speed, but they Kumo hunter nins behind them were still slowly gaining. Soon, they'd be within jutsu range.
"What can we do? We could turn and fight, but I don't think much of our chances against them."
"Have you still got the mission scroll we stole?"
Neji nodded, patting his vest, where the scroll was concealed.
"Good. Run like hell. I love you!"
Neji twisted and continued running the same direction, but was facing back as Tenten slammed her hands into the ground, whispering the name of her jutsu. A staggering wave of chakra drained from her as her earth rampart no jutsu formed, dragging a wall of unbelievable proportions from the ground.
With a howl of anguish, Neji kept sprinting, the last he saw of his brunette lover was her slum

"Neji you've been acting weird recently." Tenten said, helping him up after she knocked him down with the force of an explosion that she created. Although the bun haired girl was happy to be better matched than usual with the Hyuga prodigy, she wanted it to be on fair terms, and she knew he was bothered by something.
"It's nothing." He brushed off, "How's Sasuke?"
"He's good." Tenten replied slowly, "He's taking me on a date to the festival tomorrow." Neji nodded slowly, the festival was a great place to take a girl.
They were silent for a few moments, both thinking back to the year before, at the spring festival when Neji kissed Tenten before leaving. The two never talked about it, and both acted like it had never happened.

"So Naruto..." sneered Obito. "I thought you said you weren't going to let even a single one of your friends die?"
The Uchiha let his gaze drift away from the obnoxious Jinchuriki cradling the dead Hyuga boy, and took a moment to survey the battlefield. Riding atop the Ten tails, Obito could have been a god surveying the four corners of the earth.
Not that he took any gloating pride in that. Not that any of that mattered. Nothing mattered. There was only one reason that he was still alive, one reason that he forced his broken twisted body up every morning. There was only one reason for all the death and terror and horror and war.
It was all for her.
Rin Nohara. Her smile haunted him still. Obito would be the first to admit that the dark powers that kept his body moving put him in the category of 'no longer being human.' He accepted that the horrors that had happened to him had dashed his mind

All sorts of metal flew through the air, a crackle echoing around them whenever they met a target. The source of the weapons was a rather rugged-looking girl with two buns holding up her brown locks. Those buns, though, looked as though they were about to collapse and let her hair fall wherever it pleased. Flecks of dirt were smudged across her face, hiding the flush of her cheeks from working her body to such extremes. The exercise she was getting wasn't exactly from training, though. A pair of buffed bandits stood only a few yards from the exhausted kunoichi, grins spread across their devilish faces.
The girl had paused from attacking to clutch at a wound on her shoulder, the torn cloth rubbing against the burns that plagued her skin. She barely grimaced at the touch, though, not wanting to show any sign of weakness to the fools before her. Besides, she had worse injuries in th

TenTen was once again in her room, the curtains cracked open to allow a sliver of sunlight to make its way into the room. She then found herself standing in front of a full-length mirror. Her fingers tugged on the bottom of her shirt, picking at a loose strand of thread. After a moment of fidgeting with her clothing, TenTen turned slowly in a complete circle, looking at all sides of herself, a frown on her face. She felt ridiculous for spinning around in front of a mirror like some other giddy young girl getting ready for a date. What he had suggested was not even close to a date! At least that was what she thought.
With a sigh she turned her back to the mirror's reflective surface and started getting ready for the day, d

In the forest, birds were singing, squirrels were chirping away, a symphony of soft noises as the nature was awakening again from her winter slumber.
Farther away, he could hear people's voices, calling on each others, singing, laughing.
He took a deep breath, focusing again. Spring was just spring, nothing more than a change in the seasons. Why bother with all those ceremonials and emotion displays?
Again and again, he repeated the moves of his attacks, losing himself in his training routine, aiming for perfection.
Some distance away, Tenten was watching him. He was training on his own, again.
"You should go and speak to him."
She gave a startled yelp hearing this voice from behind her and turned to see their sensei, Maito Gaï, watch the boy train, mercilessly pushing his limits.
His face was more serious than usual as he looked at her, before turning

Neji, however, could hardly notice the rest of the surroundings, all he could think about was all the miserable socializing he was doing. As a member of the Branch family he was required to spend most of the reception speaking with different elders and their children, trying to make himself as amicable as possible.
"Yes, of course, we'd be happy to attend the introduction of your granddaughter to society." Tenten said, giving Neji a slight squeeze that was his cue to nod. Neji looked briefly at his wife before nodding.
She really did look stunning that night, hair in a large bun on top of her head and wearing a soft pink Chinese style dress. Then again Neji always thought she looked stunning.

Whenever Neji wakes up with the feeling of something heavy lying across him, he can't help but smirk.
" . . . Mission-report writing day?" He doesn't even have to ask, he already knows the answer, but does anyway. The thing on top of him always hums the same reply.
He let his smirk soften into a content smile that few people other than the woman who caused it would recognize.
Tenten put the eraser of the pencil to her lips as she tried to recall all the important details of her most recent mission, a B-rank escort to the Land of Tea. Nowadays, she actually likes writing mission reports (as boring, long and incredibly tedious as they are) because they're about twenty percent less boring when she does them lying on her husband (actually, they were ten times more fun, but she wasn't about to go letting everyone know that particular secret). For one thing, he's pretty warm. For another, she doesn't have to get up and walk all the way over to the bookshelf for the

Neji and Tenten were married on a Sunday in March, the sun bright in the sky. They were only 23, but ninjas didn't tend to live into there thirties so no one said anything. Neji actually smiled, a real true smile, when Tenten glided down the aisle, flushed with happiness. They kissed at the alter, danced at the reception, and were waved off to their honeymoon by happy friends and family.
It seemed to be perfect, and for that one day it was. The following day however, proved to be the worst day of Neji's life.
They knew it was coming, and knew that it would have to be done before the pair set off to the Land of Waves for their two week getaway, but Neji had never imagined it would be so horrible. It was the day Tenten received the curse mark.
Dressed in all white the pair sat stoically together as the Elders prepared for the marking ceremony. Tenten gave Neji's hand a little squeeze as if to tell him it was alright, as if he was th

"I would like to check out this book." I said, handing her the book that Hinata had asked me to pick up for her. I had agreed, having not been to the Konoha library in some time, and wanting to see if they had anything new.
"Forbidden Love. I've heard this was a rather widely acclaimed romance novel, tell me how it is when you return it." The pretty librarian said, scanning the book.
"Oh no, it's not for me, it's for my cousin." I said, embarrassed that the woman thought I would be reading somewhat trashy looking romance novels.
"Ah yes, I was wondering. Can I have your name?" She asked, typing it into the database as I told her. She smiled at me when she finished, handing me the book.
"Well Hyuuga-san, tell your cousin I hope she liked her book."
I nodded, taking the book and walking out of the library, heading to my car. I
