USEFUL STUFFHere's some nice useful things to check out (if you havent already) that i like to look at to improve or just watch for inspirationUSEFUL STUFF1 year ago in Personal More Like This
FYI i learn more from watching things so most of these are gonna be video tutorials, artists talking while painting and timelapse paintings, since i prefer analyzing peoples workflow and try it out than straight tutorials that tell you what to do (not there's anything wrong with it though )
LEVEL UP: https://www.youtube.com/user/levelupsessions
omg.... the amount of stuff you can learn from these amazing artists is crazy! i suggest watching from session 1 till the latest. you cant miss a thing these guys say, plus these guys are pretty fun most of the time. its a nice light, but informative bunch of videos
Marc Brunet is a great teacher! i really enjoy how he explains things and just his process in general. really good to listen to and pretty entertaining to watch

Art Thieves act more and more shamelessThe reason for this journal: I am sick of being ripped over and over again. Not only that people post my art in their blogs, Facebook, flickr, photobucket and even on YouTube without my permission which I ignore meanwhile because I don't want to spend my whole live being pissed off. But with increasing frequency people take my art and MAKE PROFIT with it. I can't take this anymore.Art Thieves act more and more shameless4 years ago in Personal More Like This
I am looking for a lawyer in the USA
I think a good lawyer could make real money with me as their client. I am from Germany. The entertainment law is a little different here than in the US. I can't sue a person who is living in the United States, at least not without considerable cost. Figure that! But most of the people or websites who sell my art live in the US or have their company headquarters there. My german lawyer would not take those cases. ARE YOU A SPECIALIZED US LAWYER or do you know someone who is one? I think if I would sue everyone who is living on my work I could be very rich.

Every century in our world holds different degree of beauty, even human's interpretation of beauty changes along the course of time. Artists, photographers and writers here in deviantArt have displayed marvelous works depicting their interpretation of beautiful wonders - The elegance of a woman, the solitude of an emerald forest and even the beauty of falling in love. Yes, beauty is a big subset for all things. That is why we
Get an Art Education Without Expensive Art SchoolsAs much as I love my school, Academy of Art University, it's not necessary to attend a special art school in order to learn about art. Because of the internet, there are plenty of resources available for those who are self-motivated and eager to learn.Get an Art Education Without Expensive Art Schools3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I'll start with some of the cheapest resources, ending with more expensive ones:
1. Blogs, podcasts and livestreams. Most professional artists keep blogs, and these things are free treasure troves of information. The best blogs don't only show off art, they also give tips about the business of art and introduce you to new resources. Try starting with Muddy Colors, a super informative blog run by several professional painters and sculptors: http://muddycolors.blogspot.com/ For podcasts, check out Chris Oatley's artcast: http://chrisoatley.com/category/podcasts/ Also check out the Awesome Horse Studios livestream: http://www.awesomehorsestudios.com/
2. Online tutorials and videos. I basically taught myself digital painting by combini
Why are we slower?About a month ago I finally got to meet an art hero of mine, Klaus Janson, a well known pro who's been in the industry for over 30 years. A mutual friend introduced us, and we hit it off right away. The group of us went through the Village hitting pub after pub, and soon I was drunk enough to ask Klaus something that had been bugging me.Why are we slower?4 years ago in Personal More Like This
I asked him if modern comic artists are, on average, slower than we used to be. He said yes, and I agreed.
From the Golden Age until the 80s, pencillers were generally expected to turn in at least two pages a day, while an inker was expected to turn in around 3-4. There were a handful of exceptions, I'm sure, but most of the artists could pump out pages like human printing presses. In the current comic industry, it's completely reversed: while a handful of artists can still hit this speed, the vast majority can't. Pencillers today struggle to produce a page-per-day, while inkers (those who still ink with ink) are hitting around 2.
So what happened? I'v

This journal is something like a bill-board. You can ask people for help, e.g. looking for an art trade partner, collab partner etc. If you're looking for help, comment on this journal with what kind of help you need.
It would be nice if you could comment again, if you got your help so that I can take you down from this journal. I will take down most things that are one month old because I can't keep track of every help request.

ARTIST'S BLOCK - HOW TO BEAT ITHow do you deal with "Artist's Block?"ARTIST'S BLOCK - HOW TO BEAT IT3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I don't care who you are, or how well you draw, one of these days, the Art Block Fairy is going to pay you a little visit. When that day comes, ideas will be scarcer than possums driving pickup trucks. Despite the randomness of that metaphor, how you handle artist's block will decide when you'll get those creative juices flowing again. Some of you will decide to pause and have a snack. I can tell you from experience that this doesn't do much to kick-start the imagination. When that doesn't work, there's always the option of getting a second snack. But eventually, you'll get too frustrated and too full to keep doing that. There's got to be another solution. So you decide to follow the prevailing wisdom, which is to go for a walk to refresh yourself, in the hopes that inspiration might return. The walk is pleasant, but almost mythical in its fecklessness. If walks worked, the beach would be teaming with cartoonists and write

This looks like it's going to be interesting. c:
1. Draw an image, copy it three times and colour each differently/with different colours. Bonus!: use different media for each.

3. Draw something with a stereotypically masculine theme or style. (Action, explosions, rough lines and angles?)
4. Draw something that is supposed to arouse positive emotion from the viewer (amusement, joy, sympathy). you can use both technique and the subject of the drawing to achieve this.

My thoughts on Skyrim so far...Just started playing a few days ago. Here are my thoughts. My thoughts on Skyrim so far...4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Warning Capslock and cussing ahoy!
There's nothing quite like a nice stroll on a cool, crisp morning with a NOPE, GOTTA PLAY SKYRIM.
I have to work, bills to pay, walk the dogs, go shopping, and I also need to NOPE, GOTTA PLAY SKYRIM.
Haven't eaten all day, I should probably have some NOPE, GOTTA PLAY SKYRIM.
FYI: If you walk past a flowery bush IRL and your first instinct is "Harvest mountain flowers," you've been playing too much Skyrim.
Approximately half of Skyrim's populace used to be an adventurer just like me, but then they all took arrows to the knee . which is funny because I've taken multiple arrows to the head and that hasn't stopped me from running tits first into one adventure after another and another . And another . AND ANOTHER OMHFG THERE ARE SO MANY !@#$%^&*ing SIDE QUESTS.
Um . Skyrim? Yes, uh, Skyrim? Hi. That's a mudcrab. There's real
