Here's my entry for the GOW art contest and first attempt at drawing anything Gears related. I couldn't pass up the opportunity on a contest involving one of my favorite video game franchises. Plus there's 100 prizes that are all pretty damn cool so here's hoping I win something.
I listened to the Gears 3 soundtrack the entire time I whipped this out and it helped inspire a ton, especially "Finally a Tomorrow". It's going to be sad seeing this series end but hopefully I'm wrong and there's more planned for the C.o.G. in the future.
I wont get too wordy about my process with this here, so if you curious about that check out my blog post about it here ---> [link]
Hope you all dig it.

My entry for the Tom Raider Reborn Contest I didn't want to portrait Lara Croft as the main subject. After all this is a game beyond the main character, it's also about experiencing the world you are thrown into. I know this is not an accurate depiction of the game itself but everything was created with a certain motif. Even if you never set up a camp o climb that high, they are all elements to reflect gameplay and the overall experience. Anyway, let's see how this turns out, some entries are insane and full of win.
This is my entry for the Gears of War 3 contest. I found it interesting because since I was in the third grade I've loved character design and videogame concept art. It's something I've always wanted to do. I read the criteria and thought, "Man, I have to do this!" After looking for references and going through the Asset Pack, I found the Berserker and Anya to be the most intriguing, plus I just enjoy creating females more than males. The concept is pretty basic. I first thought of a versus screen like in a fighting game, thus the title "Anya Vs Berserker". I noticed in a lot of the concept art for the videogame the lighting was very cohesive for the characters, using lots of blues and purples. When approaching this piece I wanted to create something that seemed it belonged in the Gears art world. At first it was very hard to find good reference for the character and monster. Luckily, the game came out on the 20th and I was finally able to find good reference to Anya's back apparatus. Thank god cause it looked like a turtle shell at first! My favorite parts of the piece are the drool and blood, especially the cuts on Anya. I noticed she has a couple of bandaids on her right arm, so I created some nasty scratches to kind of explain why she may have those bandages. (Not sure if there's a real reason in the storyline or not but I guess I just took some artistic liberties.) Overall I'm really happy with the piece. My husband, Marcus, thinks it's my best yet, so we'll see how the crowd responds! Not sure how long it took to create. I worked on it off and on over the past couple weeks when I was off work. Photoshop CS3 Burn and Dodge tools are my friend!
-Please view it in full size to catch all the details. I have it on my wide screen TV and its pretty cool seeing the image that big.
* EDIT: I added my name to it since so many are downloading it... would like for people to know who made it

The resource provided wasnt sufficient enough to get an actual idea of the game or the characters involved. Therefore I had to go through tons of interviews, walk through videos plus additional hi-res images from Game spot,so that I can actually focus my mind and get deep into the characters and somewhat TRY to think like the creators of Ubisoft team they are just great and personally I think the character designs were exceptionally detailed and awesome. So, I got the entire story of the game and the characters involved- the heroes, the villains ,the environment and the elements of the game. Then finally came up with a composition which reflects the game itself and tells the story of the game.
The idea was to divide the composition into two segments the darkness caused by the corruption of Ahriman and the light cause by the healing touch of Elika. So as you can see in the composition a guardian called the 'Alchemist' covering the entire sky raising his army of corruption thus leaving that part of the composition to a darken bluish black colour. And on the other side is Elika and according to the game she re-stores the light to the environment and as a result it is in warm Reddish orange colour.
Now, the prince being in the middle suggests that He is the barrier between darkness and light and the expression is portrait by his gauntlet which divides the composition into two not to mention he has to look cool too.
Unfortunately I dont have Xbox360/Ps3 and didnt get a chance to play the game. So in my original composition I added the Sacred Tree of life behind princes head and from the tree emerges the Alchemist but afterward I realized that the tree itself turned into the Alchemist ( which is just my assumption by looking at the details in the tree and the villain) and decided not to go with it, so if I am wrong ...then I am just Human.
I loved the previous prince of Persia games in PS2 and my first was Prince 3d where he actually used to jump from walls, slide on the floor as he ran and it was pure fun back in those days. And look where his journey has taken him now-Good luck to Ubisoft creative team and hope the adventure never ends.
