Thomas Jefferson was the author of the Declaration of Independence. Like John Adams, Jefferson practiced law. He also worked on a long project to build a mountain retreat at Monticello, Virginia. Like Washington, Jefferson had tragedy in his early life. His wife and two of his three children died. Jefferson remained a widower for the rest of his life. He was a rising political star in United States as he became the secretary of state and founder of the Democratic-Republican Party.

Why I decided to be a writerWhen people asked why I wanted to be a writer, my answer is simply because of nostalgia. As a young child, I was often alone, and never was able to make any new friends.
