Went for a photo safari with a professional photographer, Gilbert Van Reenen, while on vacation in New Zealand. It was quite an experience, he took us places most tourists probably never see and it was great having another photographer there to talk with and bounce ideas back and forth.

After a fun and at times educational drive through the Nevis Valley, we headed out for the day and stopped to get some last few shots. There was an extremely interesting rock formation and as this was the last real day of our trip I just knew the type of shot I wanted to take.

New Zealand was an amazing place, a secret, hidden place, and this shot captures that feeling perfectly for me.

Enjoy!

View back towards the Rapadalen Valley, on the right is the mountain Skierffe which we climbed the following day. This morning a sami fisherman did drive us through the rivers below in his boat. The Rapadalen marks the end of the Swedish national park Sarek.

View from the Skierffe:

West Virginia highlands in September 2001. Yes, just a few days after that notorious day. I had to get out of the city (Washington DC area) and what better way than to go up into the quiet and remote mountains and enjoy their pervasive peace. I like how the sun here reflects on the clouds above it as if it was a lake. I snapped this exposure in-between 40+ mph wind gusts but the tree was moving some.

And God said that there should be an abundance of landscape photos, and he saw that they were pretty good. West Virginia.
