Superheroes on the Game Grid
It was a rather gray morning in Centropolis, as most people's residences had begun to recover from a serious power outage during the night. One such resident, Lorraine Jett, had nearly thrown a tantrum coupled with her own elastic powers, having lost a ton of text for a presentation she wanted to show to the city's mayor.
But today, things were about to blow that loss out of the water.
The phone rang in the kitchen of her apartment, and Meredith, her flying dragon partner, reported that the caller ID was no one other than Ms. Jett's brother. Running to the phone to answer it, and putting it on speaker for Meredith to hear, Lora began in a tired voice, "What is it, Alan? It's 7:10 AM, and I was up till 1 AM working on that presentation when my PC crashed!"
"I'm sorry to hea
History of SpireFrom what we know in Myst IV: Revelation, Atrus had believed his Prison Age of Spire to be completely uninhabited from the beginning. I, for one, disagree with that belief. The broken stone palaces look much too intricate to have been there without people to have constructed them in the past. Sirrus believed that there was a violent, xenophoboic civilization as well. Perhaps they were, but also highly intelligent. Whatever the case may be, these points were supported by my constant interest in what those rock palaces would have looked like intact, and possibly inhabited. So, I have written a short story detailing the Age of Spire before Atrus linked to it.History of Spire2 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
Too long ago to recount, a group of humanoid beings appeared on the world of Spire by unknown means. By then, Spire was no more than floating gargantuan masses of rock and crystal sitting in two thick layers of thunderclouds. Thankfully, these humanoids were endowed with enough intellect to construct a series of palaces from th
The new intern part 1At last, Lora Jett made it back to Centropolis, California, and this time she had brought her brother, Alan, with her.The new intern part 13 years ago in Scraps More Like This
She was just now ready to get back to work for the first time in 8 days, when all of a sudden, something seemed very out of place. Her boss, Richard Hearst, stood behind the counter with a cheery-looking woman with wild curly magenta hair standing next to him.
Lora asked with a low jaw, "Uh...who is that?"
"Oh, Lora, I forgot to call you earlier. I just hired a new intern a couple days ago while you were...*chuckle* out having fun. This is Diane Rosado, our new product sorter. You know, taking in the deliveries, filling the display containers, and all that," Mr. Hearst warmly introduced this woman.
Ms. Jett crinkled her eyebrows in suspicion, and continued, "You didn't replace me, did you?"
"No, no! I'd never do that! But while she's here, think of Diane as a...roommate of yours." Richard enthusiastically explained.
Diane raised her right hand to wave, and said,
Lovergum meets the H.U.B.It was a rather foggy October morning when Lora Jett, age 31, had arrived back at the Candy Castle "Sweets shop", only 30 minutes after thwarting a mugging attempt at a nearby gas station one block down. Being a cashier, profits were looking pretty good at this time of day.Lovergum meets the H.U.B.3 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
"Hey, Lora, mail for you!" came an old voice from the back room.
The voice belonged to her boss, Mr. Richard Hearst. When he came into the main room, Mr. Hearst was holding a brown paper envelope. Lora opened it quietly, to make sure none of the customers were watching. She felt suspicious about this letter because of that. Although simply printed out, it still struck the cashier as suspicious. It said:
"We're having a party down at the Cloverbrow hotel, room 27. No need to bring company, we have plenty of people here right now. Come as you are, you don't have to dress fancy. Party's at 2:00 PM. Be there, or be squared."
She pocketed the note and decided to do what it said. Mr. Hearst allowed Lora the permissi

Episode 1: Monday
“Mom, I don’t feel ready for school yet. What if people noticed me yesterday?” An 8-year-old young girl complained to her mother.
“I’m pretty sure most of the children at this school were not involved with that audience in the park yesterday. Don’t worry,” the mother consoled her child.
Three days prior to now, Lora Jett – alias “Trinity” – had adopted a new daughter after her “pet alien dragon” had to literally leave Earth the day before. This girl’s name was Mindy Lauren Cross, and for some time she had spent perhaps 3 years in a children’s home for girls, after her previous parents were killed in a terrorist attack. Mindy had a penchant for comic books, and dreamed of being a superhero one day. This fit very well with Ms. Jett’s own family being in charge of research into superheroes, and how her father once had that same dream. Better

File 1: The Jett Family: "Lorraine Jett was the second child of Howard and Sarah Jett, some of this facility's most important members. Her parents signed up for this lab during its first stages of productivity in November, 1974, having married a year later. Sarah became pregnant on January 6th, 1976. She gave birth to Alan on September 2nd, with a notable diagnosis of premature birth, though nothing too serious. Unfortunately, Howard and Sarah could not raise him and run a highly advanced laboratory at the same time, much to their regret. Thus, he was left in the care of his grandfather, Clarence until reaching the age of 17, at which point he was brought back to the lab to work with them, in a familiar tradition to Howard. Alan tried an experiment in his parents' research by becoming a hero to study: Usin

Lora could feel anger welling up inside her, and with no conscience active at the moment, she let her secret identity slip and shifted her form right into that of Trinity's, dead in front of Diane. With her left hand, the elastic girl pinned Diane to one wall in a wad of sticky pink ooze formed from her hand. Trinity then morphed her other hand into a bright red boxing glove about 7 inches across. Ms. Rosado couldn't keep from shaking while the elastic girl held out her glove about 2.5 feet from her captive's position, and she smiled, "Any last words?" Her fist suddenly began shaking as she said this.
But before Lora could do her deranged deed, the door burst open and Mr. Hearst & his two baking associates rushed into the room. The former nearly yelled, "What is all the ruckus?!" Before Mr. + Mrs. Kuchen could say anything let alone see what was going on from behind Mr. Hearst's head in the cramped doorway Trinity pan

Ten years since last mission.
It has been a long time since any missions were taken and completed by this elastic woman. So long, in fact, that just after her last mission, Ms. Jett dropped her career as a superhero entirely. She only used her elastic abilities for rudimentary tasks from there on.
Lora simply went back to her old job that previously wasn't always fulfilled 8 hours a day.
She wasn't the only one to change, either.
Her boss, Mr. Richard Hearst had stopped pointing out crimes for her to take care of, and his son, Arnold, had become a teenager and lost interest in Plastic Man comics that usually helped Lora in a few missions. Even her own sidekick, Meredith, had stopped thinking about fighting crime, and had grown to be more like an adopted sister to Lora than a sidekick.
Lora herself thought that crime could take care of itself, like the illegal drug issue. The police would do a better job than she ever did, because after all,
Double Mindy part 2The last stop on the list was Centropolis’ clothes-making factory, but the only way they could utilize it would be when the workers were gone, and the car’s clock stated “8:21 PM”.Double Mindy part 22 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
“Okay, there’s one last step to making your super-costume, and I need to tell you: the way we’re going to do it isn’t totally legal,” Lora sighed.
“What do you mean, mommy? Are we gonna do a bad thing?” Mindy felt a little nervous.
“Well, the people in this factory we’re going to are about to leave and lock the doors, but we need to use their equipment to build your costume.”
“What if we just wait until tomorrow? We could use the stuff during business hours.”
Mom shook her head, “Even then, I really don’t think they’d let us near their equipment. I mean, this factory distributes clothes to several states and I assume every machine in the place is used. So if we go in and just use one or two while
Double Mindy part 1Yesterday, a small pink dragon made of bubble-gum, nicknamed “Meredith”, had parted ways with the well-known elastic supergirl, Lorraine Jett. Up to this point, Meredith had served and aided Lora on many dangerous missions. As a memento, the creature gave Lora a set of special gumballs she created – assorted, one might say – which could change shape when chewed and blown bubbles from, including weapons, creatures of varying size, and more. Meredith's departure was due both to a new stage in her life cycle: reproduction and that the mysterious nonhuman who created her and provided Lora’s costume, needed the dragon back to perhaps help in that process. That nonhuman appeared for only 2 minutes, and a minute later, both she and Meredith were gone, leaving only a photo and the gumballs behind.Double Mindy part 12 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
Now, with Lora Jett alone in Centropolis – save for her brother who lived some distance away – she felt almost too depressed to go to work. But the obvious s
First mission of LovergumTwo weeks ago, Loraine Jett had unexpectedly discovered a strange costume that bestowed elastic abilities to its wearer. The suit was packed with a letter saying that the sender needed help.First mission of Lovergum3 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
Understanding the message, Lora traveled immediately to the costume's source: a planet called Draemona, and defeated a strange half-snake, half-humanoid being there. A woman named Iris II turned out to be the one who gave her those powers, and Lora had saved her from the creature in return, though Iris did not know how to change her savior's form back.
As a bonus, however, Lora scored a sidekick, now knowing that she was a full-on super-heroine. Iris came up with Ms. Jett's heroic title: Lovergum her costume made Lora able to seduce any man (evil or good), and that her body did happen to share the properties of bubble gum. The sidekick, a small female dragon literally made out of bubble gum, also fitting with the duo, gained the nickname "Meredith".
All this didn't mean Lora had no soc

Tonight, Lora's older brother, Alan, had pulled up something juicy from the lab he works at before it was vacated when their parents, its leaders, were murdered. Lora recalled that she was asked to revive about 30 heroes and villains kept in cryogenic storage for some hidden reason, but was captured before she could do so. Now Alan had access to this process again, but he wanted to show his sister their profiles first.
