Community: Intro to Animation is a fan made animation and a tribute to one of television's most clever and experimental comedies, Community. Splicing together audio from "Paradigms of Human Memory" and "Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas" I created this quick gag to support one of my favorite sitcom series. Let's keep #SaveCommunity and #SixSeasonsAndaMovie trending on twitter!

I'd forgotten about this, my final project for a class last semester. I had planned to have more animation, but this is as far as I had gotten, and I don't know when I'll have time to add on more.

my thesis film.

the idea for this project grew from a single image in my head: a giant, brooding monster watching over a little girl outside her bedroom window. overall, i'm satisfied with it and glad i was able to finish such a large production, but i look back and i know i could've made it better. perhaps sometime in the future i'll remake it and do the story the justice it deserves. what i had planned is too heartfelt and epic for a short film.

still... my favorite aspect of the entire film is the music. once again it was composed by Derek Zhao, the man who did the score for "To The Sun". this time around we went for something more grand: a full orchestra (22 musicians i believe). the recording session was the most amazing part of the entire production and Derek did an excellent job interpreting the emotions i wanted into music.

animated in Toon Boom Digital Pro.
backgrounds done in Photoshop.
composited in After Effects.
edited in Premiere Pro.

I have this in my computer for a while. I wondered if someone would be interested on seeing this.
So here it is.Sorry for the bad lighting and capture...I wish I had the right equipments and knowledge to record this accordingly.

The sculpture was made with some kind of oil clay.

Here is the model sheet, for some comparison: [link]

My thesis dinosaur is hereby done. My brain ceased to work properly and left me speechless. AAaaaaaaaaaahh!

The written portion of my thesis isn't even properly started, but dangit! I'm glad not having to tweak this any longer. I survived.

This is low quality render, though. The full quality made DA cough.

Made with Cinema 4D.

Oh, hey, look! It works!

You may have seen this video on YouTube with different music, I've decided to upload another version to DA. Music by my friend Jonathan Pearson with his kind permission, he is currently working on a new musical piece for a video I've not yet published, as a collaboration project. I couldn't be more excited and more happy to being able to work with such great and talented people.

This painting was done during my 31 day painting challenge during (May 2013) its first week (Portraits), model is my friend Diana Grigore (=DianaGrigore). Original of this painting should be at her place by now (:

▲This artwork was painted in ink (Winsor & Newton, black) and watercolor (Schmincke Horadam) on 300g cold-pressed Canson paper, original size 24 x 32 cm / 9.4 x 12.6 "
