I have this in my computer for a while. I wondered if someone would be interested on seeing this. So here it is.Sorry for the bad lighting and capture...I wish I had the right equipments and knowledge to record this accordingly.
The sculpture was made with some kind of oil clay.
Here is the model sheet, for some comparison: [link]
This is The World's Largest K'nex Ferris Wheel. It measures 12 feet in diameter and 13 feet tall. It has 128 spokes, 32 carts and about 12,000 pieces. It was built in 3 weeks (including repairs made after wind damage) by myself (Austin Granger), Renee Bergeron, Sam Ihlenfeldt, Stephen Walker, Simon Olson and Paul Davis. The wheel is supported by a quarter-inch steel axle and powered by a 12 volt DC motor. The wheel was completed thanks to the generous donations of over 4,000 pieces from people in my neighborhood.
Includes a POV shot of a camera riding in one of the carts.
This was my animation final for my Animation Assisting (AKA Classical Animation Techniques) class.
I was given the keyframes to the skip cycle, 10 or so rough drawings., I had to redraw each of the keyframes to tidy them up and add consistency to pretty much everything. The roughs didn't have clearly drawn hands or feet and the basket shrank and grew, so I had to fix that. Then I had to draw the inbetween drawings; 14 of them, and make sure they were consistent with the roughs in mass and details and everything. Lastly I had to clean up all 24 drawings by tracing them over exactly using .5 and .3 mm mechanical pencils.
A Cake for Cherry is my senior thesis at Emily Carr University of Art and Design (2011) and my very first film.
I've never spent so much time on a project before. Took me 8 months from start to finish. Loads of blood and sweat went into this project. It was a huge learning experience and I literally went crazy (and paranoid)! XD There are a lot of things that I want to modify, change and improve in the film (like timing, pacing, shots, animation... etc.), but I did my best.
Even if I'm not truly satisfied with the outcome (there are a lot of things that I hate/love about it)... I have to move on and create new art!
Special Thanks to my family and friends for supporting me and helping me make this film possible! Without you guys, I don't think I would've survived.
Enough with my blabbering, hope you enjoy!!
