Clues your Transformers Fanfic is Probably CrapI am an avid Transformers fan, have been since watching the first Transformers movie (2000). Since then I've immersed myself in its many universes; loving some and loathing others. One facet I continually search is the fanfiction which is a wonderful way of expanding the universes and even rarely improving upon them. I myself write fanfiction and love doing so.Clues your Transformers Fanfic is Probably Crap2 years ago in Personal More Like This
But, as with all fanfiction (no matter what show/game/book it is written for), there is a plethora of crap stories neck deep one must wade through to find the true literary gems. Put simply: 90% of fanfiction is god awful crap written by some kid/proto-adult with little to no writing skills and even less creativity.
NOW…I'm not saying everything I have written is great because that would be a bald-faced lie and terribly arrogant on my part. My earlier work has some of these "peeves" and it took a very honest reviewer to tell me so. If not for Storyseeker I probably would never have written anything better. AND I KNOW ever
Pedophilia is something I DON'T JOKE WITHBefore getting started, I want to mention that what I'm saying here is in perfect cohesion with DeviantART rules, and so it is with LAWS !Pedophilia is something I DON'T JOKE WITH2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Let's start with a little quote.
We cannot allow any nude works featuring individuals under the age of 18, nor may the works depict these individuals in a 'sexually driven' manner such as posing in lingerie or displaying a sexually suggestive or provocative pose.
This prohibition is for legal reasons; the laws in the United States are the governing laws in regards to all submissions regardless of the deviant's country of origin. Photographs which are suspected of depicting a minor in this manner will be temporarily suspended from public view and proper legal documentation (as outlined above) will be demanded while photographs which clearly depict a minor (including toddlers, preteens, and teenagers) in this manner will be removed without notice.

[ WARNING FOR RANT ]
Recently the media have been attacking us gamers, calling us monsters and potential killers.
Painting up an image for the future that games causes people to kill.
Let us just dive straight into it , video-games causes no violence more then a song causes people to kill themselves.
The problem was already there, a mind that is easy infected by negative thoughts was broken from the beginning.
My nephew suffers from ADHD and Asperger syndrome , he has aggression problems and a difficulty to see the difference between reality and fiction also due to being 11 years old.
One time he struck his sister in the eye for blocking the TV and was forbidden to play video-games for a month.
Video-games did not make him punch his sister, but his mental problems and the fact that his parents had problems handling him correctly, also to help him handle his frustration a bit better, because it often boils over. Once

There are four traditional Gaelic seasonal festivals involving great feasts, bonfires, and dancing: Samhain (Feast of the Dead), Imbolc (Day of Cailleach), Beltane (Fertility Festival), and Lughnasadh (Feast of Lugh). Samhain is a Celtic Pagan Fire Festival of the Dead signifying the last harvest of the year before winter and is the time when twin bonfires are lit, and animals and people pass between them in a cleansing ritual and the bones of slaughtered livestock were cast into the flames, as well as the day when the last livestock to be taken is killed and prepared, the last foods from the fields are brought in, and a feast is held, leaving a place set for the ancestors to join the living. In addition, all the hearth fires are put out and a flame is taken from a central bonfire to light the hear

Fan-Fiction-Tastic News #15Hello all! Welcome to the fifteenth edition of my Fan-Fiction-Tastic News!Fan-Fiction-Tastic News #153 months ago in Literature Features More Like This
We're getting into the cold winter months ... well, some of us are. I admit, as I hunker down under a blanket, hiding from below freezing temperatures, I'm a bit envious of those of you in the Southern Hemisphere. Regardless of whether you're cold or hot, I hope December finds all of you doing well!
I am accepting Daily Deviation suggestions for both Fan Fiction and Literature! As always, please feel free to contact me with anything you need, be it questions, concerns, or any other help I can provide (sorry, I don't have any spare piles of money laying around )! Please note me any time, reply here or leave a comment on my profile.
November Daily Deviations
Please keep sending those suggestions (both Fan Fiction and Literature). I love receiving them! (Yes, self-suggestions too!) With the numerous end of the year holidays approaching, I'd love some appropriately themed ones.

Recently, we've been going through all of the site's features and settings to assess usage, traffic, community reception, and how the feature helps contribute to deviantART's goals.
dAmn It, the system where deviants can submit and vote on funny quotes from Chat (originally called "dAmn" or deviantART Messaging Network), is a feature that gets extremely low usage and traffic.
On November 30, 2013 dAmn It will be officially phased out. Until then, the feature has been removed from the main site navigation but will still be available via the Chat page for those who want to archive any quotes.
Phasing out unused and outdated features allows us to focus our resources on improving existing features and building new ones to hel
*The 12 Best Cartoons EVER!I've seen where others have listed what they thought the best cartoons were of what was on TV in a given decade. Well, I'm going to do you one better. I'm going to list cartoons that I thought were the best done through several decades. These were all shows that I personally watched growing up. That being said, most of these will fall into the 80's, but there are exceptions. I am not listing these in any particular order, and I own or plan to own a number of these on DVD.*The 12 Best Cartoons EVER!3 years ago in Personal More Like This
This was a much beloved story that started as a book in the 1950's. It became a mixed animation series (2D animated characters and backgrounds with a stop motion 3D Paddington) in the 70's and a short run cartoon in 1989. Paddington was a polite and well loved bear that had become a children's literary icon in the UK that spread around the world. Personally, I feel that such a beloved story and character deserves far more mainstream recognition than has been given over the years.
Faith and Atheism - A few thoughts( MAY BE RANT RELATED - IF YOU DISLIKE FAITH TOPICS, AVOID THIS JOURNAL)Faith and Atheism - A few thoughts2 months ago in Personal More Like This
My fascination has been persistent enough to follow me through life: Does God exist?
As a human being we have a free mind to think and act within certain social rules, we will always question everything.
Why follow rules set by other people, and why agree to them?
Why pay taxes?
Why go to church and pray to a god that may or may not exist?
So one may ask what is Atheism?
So many questions... so little time
Well Atheism is, in a broad sense is a rejection of belief in the existence of gods of any form.
But one can't simply say that this is what Atheism is, it exist so many levels of it.
Why would God simply not exist according to them? Well science disproves God's existence at all levels.
But people of a religious does not like this, they say things such as:
"But people need religion! For moral choices, counseling, emotional and financial help during hard time
About Transformers...Found while searching via Google for pics of Arcee, and this was on Arcee's Facebook page apparently. XD I totally agree with it so I had to share. I would amend it by adding "You either get it or you don't, and those who do "get it" need no explanation."About Transformers...2 years ago in Personal More Like This
And I made a stamp about it! XD I had to, it was too glorious not to and so many people liked it, the stamp sort of became necessary. **chuckles** Enjoy!

Zeviant FartThere's nothing more I can add to the debate/communal rant currently taking place that has not already been said, other than repeat my opinion that, if something requires explanation, it's not art. This is doubly so when it comes to a logo, which is supposed to convey a message by way of a simplified image, be that message a name or a graphical representation of purpose and/or meaning.Zeviant Fart3 months ago in Personal More Like This
The Ten Percent RuleIf you are working on a completely shaded drawing, or a finished art work, you may wish to follow the the ten per cent rule, which runs as follows: Make roughly ten per cent of your shaded areas black or near-black, and roughly ten percent white or near-white, with the rest of the artwork composed of a range of middle tones. This rule follows my deeper art philosophy that "beauty is in the middle tone." All areas of tonality must also follow the rule of balanced composition. I'm just formulating this rule now, but it seems that many high quality masterpieces, such as finished oil paintings and the best drawings, follow it to some extent. (not always, but many, I think.) For example, here's a typical masterpiece, a piece of art by Degas: http://penonpointe.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/edgar-degas-the-rehearsal.jpg I think you can very clearly see the ten per cent rule in effect here. The Ten Percent Rule2 years ago in Personal More Like This

- If you are under 18, please do ask your caretaker for permission before commisioning me. This is to protect both you and me from getting in trouble. If the money is 100% yours and you're 16 and up, permission is not needed.
- I do NOT draw canon characters of any series, movies, games or comics. They are copyrighted material and I am not allowed to legally profit them anyway. OC's, fan-characters, self-inserts, alter-egos and fursonas are by all means okay.

What Makes Your Character A Sue?Warning: very long journalWhat Makes Your Character A Sue?3 years ago in Personal More Like This
So, I've seen so much crap about Mary/Gary Sues around the internet. It's not just on deviantART, it's posted anywhere where you can write your own character. Y!Gal, Livejournal, FF.Net. Anywhere. But there's something that a lot of people don't understand when it comes to character writing. And that's development.
What makes a good character? A believable personality. A believable background. A character that readers can understand and relate to on certain levels. When you pick up a book and read it, you'll notice that many things are different compared to fanfics that people post online. One thing is that EVERY character could be picked apart and called a Sue from the narrow minded Fandom Sue Police.
For now, I will specifically talk about the Transformers fandom. Mostly because it's what I work with and what I read the most during my internet escapades. Keep in mind that all of what I am saying is based off four years of knowledge and statistics
Top 12 Favorite Plot TypesA while ago I wrote a list of my top 11 most hated cliches. I tried to come up with an alternative. My top 11 favorite cliches, but I couldn't think of enough so I decided to do something different but similar. Have you ever had one of those plot types that you could manage to enjoy no matter how cliche and sterile they are? Those plots that have a large chance at being your guilty pleasures at worst? So, if you do know any episodes (or hell movies) that use these plots, I'd love to hear them; they don't even need to be animated. Although, each of these can and have been done badly before.Top 12 Favorite Plot Types5 months ago in Personal More Like This

One that doesn't have the third wish be "I wish I'd never met you" (with a few exceptions, like one of the Fairly OddParents TV movies, the one with Norm), which is odd because this doesn't really apply to shows like Fairly Odd Parents where reality is bended at will. The basic gist of this plot is that a normal character suddenly gets the ability to get whatever they wan

*What is a Professional Artist? There seems to be a lot of misconception over what actually defines a "Professional Artist" vs an "Amateur Artist" and I've noticed that a lot of people seem to think that just because they drew a picture of some random person's character and got a little money for it, that means they are a "Professional Artist". Um, no, it does not. All that means is that you're an Amateur Artist who's quality of work is presentable enough for a few random people to ask for pictures from you. Mind you, some of these people getting "commissions and requests" are drawing images of a skill level consistent with a grade schooler, often with a lack of acceptable shading and highlights, let alone consistent color application. By the same token there are Amateur Artists who do quite excellent work getting commissions, but they are still Amateur Artists. I've also noticed there are people on DA who erroneously classify themselves as "Professional Artists" when they do not have anything in their galleries*What is a Professional Artist?2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Can we control the universe? Most human beings have a natural desire for control in some way or form, control over our lives, our futures, even those around us. Don't get me wrong I am not saying everyone is a power hungry wannabe dictator, or a control freak bossing everyone around any chance they get. but those types of personalities and extremities stem from a common desire. Sometimes all we want to control is whether we have a steady income, a healthy family, and the ability to take charge of our own lives. sounds pretty reasonable right? Can we control the universe?3 years ago in Personal More Like This
But of course in life there are so many things that you cant control and sometimes your long term goals are dependent on the little things that our out of your hands. That's why most people look for the loopholes. The loopholes are the beliefs and faiths people often rely on to help them mentally cope with not being completely in control.
One of these loopholes is religion, or often times faith in a higher power. This faith tells people that someone created t
