CONTEST- DEADLINE EXTENTION!OKAY! So I've extended the deadline for a bit. The deal is, my parents have been away for ten days or so, and I've had the house to myself for this time. Soooooo I ditched all art and dA business and yah. So I'm returning back to the system today. I'm extending the deadline mainly because I still have TONS of Commissions to draw and I don't want to keep the contest prize winners waiting for their art for a long time. I don't want to extend it for that long because so many have entered, however I am going away on holiday at the end of the month so I'm torn between ending it either before I go or as soon as I'm back. The Heinz comics were initially things I did on the side for fun, but now it has grown into a series of its own! Those comics can be found here on dA or at Smackjeeves. This series focuses on the dog, Heinz, in Ritzkrieg, who's goal to is to be with Fredrich. Unfortunately, all his attempts to get close are thwarted or are merely fantasies!

I don't know if people are gonna be interested, but if not, oh well, less work for me!
Soo what is it about? Well, as you can guess, it's about my fursonaagain. As you can see on her ref, Vana has this hat she likes to wear. Vana likes hats.
BUT there's a problem. In summer it can get quite hot. Vana can't stand heat too well in general, and she certainly can't wear her hat then. But it'd be nice if she could wear a hat that'd keep her head cool and keep the sun out of her eyes (she isn't too fond of wearing sunglasses for too long).
So I gave Vana this hat.

Existential CrisisWell I've realized that my big 'art block' is, in fact, a full-blown existential crisis. Sounds funny to say, since that phrase gets thrown around so much, but it's a legitimate problem. I know I've already spoke about this... but please, please, PLEASE... I do not do photomanipulation. Never. I am a painter.
I see very often some people who put my paintings in 'photomanipulation' collections. Or I am invited in groups about photomanipulation. Or my paintings are featured in journals with only manipulations. I am a bit upset about it. Maybe it is because people are not able to see difference between painting and photomanipulation ?
I think it is because I am not happy with it. I do not feel flattered. On the contrary, I am disappointed. To me, it is not a compliment.
I know I can be painful about this. But for me, it is a real subject of discontent. Because I put a lot of myself, and hours, and tears (because sometimes my paintings suck), and I am disappointed. People are not able to see the work behind a painting. Photomanipluation (and especially the gothic ones, the magic ones, with beautiful ladies in dark landscapes) is easy. Painting is not.
