Took a break from the commission I was working on and did up this quick sketch of my very much neglected comic idea that I always chip away/restart. From the top left going clockwise we got Flann “Red” Reid (gasp he has a real name), A character I only ever drew once before in a concept for this comic “Ches”, then we have Laika who’s design has changed a zillion times and will probably undergo yet another change (but I am getting closer), and then the Huntsman.
Yeah. I restart this thing like 4000 times. The only character that has consistently stayed pretty much the same (other than I get better at drawing him) is Red, who for the most part retains his original look. Not that I haven’t experimented (Red had red hair and prison stripes at a point, and then black and red and was all emo) but in general he has gone through very little change. I like drawing him a lot actually.
EVENTUALLY I’ll get this crazy samurai story off the backburner and do it for real. I do want to finish Death King 1 when I have the chance and perhaps I can always start this off as a web series when time becomes more available and I clear out a few high priority things.
Edit: On the topic of Red, this was the first drawing. I mean when I look at it I can tell just how far I’ve improved in terms of the way I draw him.
