To Set A Black Rabbit Loose
While that one phrase about a frying pan and fire suddenly came to mind, Alicia realized she was someone who skipped the pan altogether. She supposed it came from her father’s side…but then again it was her mother who had always been the one to fight first and ask questions later. Her parents had obviously done a marvelous job raising her, given that she was now being dragged with black chains around her wrists. Luckily for her, the female guards had given her a matching set for her ankles as well, so that she didn’t commit a further crime in fashion with the rags she was dressed in.
They stopped short, appearing to have reached her jail cell. A barred window lay high above and the dim sunlight displayed web-like cracks in the bricks, while in the darkest corner, a small wooden bed sat covered in a sheet, strands of hay visible. The guard on her left opened the door, the one on the right gripping her arm harder than necessary before

Cats Calling Curiosity.
"This is nowhere near how I imagine this kingdom....Are you sure we are in the correct location?" False green flickered back and forth, taking in the surrounds as the two girls entered the bustling market place.
The lengthy bazaar-like was packed with people, corner to corner with market stands and indoor shops, full of life and activity. Shopkeepers hollered advertisements to every and any passerby, people paying in metal coins or even bartering items they had on them, impressive knock-offs of fancy armor and weaponry (everyone knew to always purchase gear from the source, which meant browsing through the actual armory's selection), and children of all ages, sizes, and color laughing and adding to the noise with their gleeful shouts.
Her hands arched behind her head, Petrica gave a light chuckle as she rolled her eyes.
"Just 'cause the place is run by a mad woman with a power obsession, doesn't mean the people can't live happily and have normal expe

It took a while, but they eventually exited the forest due west. Luckily for them, they came across a kindly farmer headed in that general direction. He allowed them to ride the back of his coach, the thief and the princess taking to the right side while the fayri took the left. Before they had approached them, Sūraja had turned her scarf into a headdress, covering her ears from view.
Setting their gear at their feet, the trio took a moment to relax. Eventually though, as the carriage started to pull away, Petricia began to get restless from the silence. She nudged Alicia in the rib, nodding her head in Sūraja's direction. "Ya gonna do it?" She asked with her eyes. Alicia nudged back with a blink of her eyes "No! You're the one who's known her longer!" This led to a back and forth that evolved from gentle nudges to full on shoves.
"So what exactly is that you wish to ask of me?" They stopped their antics, to see Sūraja watchin

Special thanks to my partner in crime, J-Cleo, for helping me write this!
Creating manga is quite daunting as a project. You have to worry about so many things and prepare for unforeseen problems. While I don’t claim to be an expert on the field, I can at least share with you my experiences while on a quest to create my own manga.
Bear in mind, this guide is geared towards individuals serious about entering the field or wanting to create a well-developed story. That doesn’t mean you can’t use this advice if you’re a hobbyist (more power to you!) but this focuses on taking it that extra step.
The Story Concept
The first thing you need should be obvious: the concept, or idea, for your story. This could be something you’ve had in your mind for a while, a sud

Neji, for all his keen hindsight and ability to read others, really should have saw the question coming.
"Ne, Neji, do you think I'm pretty?"
More importantly, he really should have come up with an verbal answer beforehand. Had he been an idiot like Naruto or Lee, he might have lost his composure and stumble a bit. Instead he merely coughed, louder than he had intended to.
Ten Ten had cast glance at him that he caught, a slight smirk on her face. Neji rolled her eyes. It was just another one of her attempts to--his eyes flickered back to her as she took a skip or two ahead of him. Her hands were behind her back, arms stretched out. His teammate looked at the heavens above, clouds gently passing over them.
She did a little pirouette like turn to face him, a certain sadness he wasn't used to in her eyes, her smile darker than normal. Neji couldn't but think that she did look very beautiful when she had such a sad look in her features. He almost s

Colorists: Having Difficulty Finding A Skintone? This happens to me all the time.Colorists: Having Difficulty Finding A Skintone?3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
I'm starting out an image, and for the life of me, I just cannot determine what color I should use for the skintone. I wish I had a crystal ball that would show me thirty minutes into the future so I can see just how a character will look after applying all the necessary shading, anatomical detailing, and highlights based upon the base color I use. A lot of times, it'll appear too faint, too desaturated, or on the flip side, way too bold and gleaming like a bronzed deity caked in a thick lathering of walrus grease.
Which is delicious, by the way.
FORTUNATELY! The folks at The Humanae Tumblr seemed to have a crystal ball of their own. Not so much one that shows the final product of my work, but one that certainly told them of my many incredibly frustrating endeavors into spending a good chunk of time shading a character's skin only to realize the base tone was absolute g

The hardest part of any craft is getting the right tools. You've gotta learn the language of the trade, and that means getting yourself familiar with what's needed where. Culinary arts in particular can be so overwhelming. Most sugar craft books will tell you you need a long list of expensive equipment they'll use to make one type of adornment never to be used again. This can suck a lot of beginners in to spending a fortune on equipment that's not essential. And cake decorating equipment is exorbitantly expensive. I can go buy some lustre dust and a couple of cutters required for one type of flower and kiss $100 goodbye, so knowing when to spend and when not to spend can save you a lot of pain.

Chouji stopped pacing for a second, the house noticeably stiller beneath them. Behind him, his red-marked friend leaned against the wall, crossing his arms over his chest. Clearly the Inuzuka was seen the point in his worry. Chouji straightened himself up before facing Kiba's direction. He sighed, hands running through his hair long, spiked hair.
"It's just that everything needs to be prefect for tonight and--"
"When the hell did that happen?"
Chouji cut his eye at his friend before raising an eyebrow. "When did what happened?"
"Become such a perfectionist when it comes to Ino of all people." Chouji watched as Kiba scrunched up his nose at the thought of obsessing over every little detail. He knew that it was beyond his friend's reasoning as to why someone would put that much energy into one event.
Not that he missed a beat with his response of "Because to me, Ino is perfect and deserves the very best." To this Kiba rolled his eyes

PE: The art of OrigamiWhat is Origami?PE: The art of Origami2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Origami (折り紙, from ori meaning "folding", and kami meaning "paper" (kami changes to gami due to rendaku) is the traditional Japanese art of paper folding, which started in the 17th century AD at the latest and was popularized outside of Japan in the mid-1900s. It has since then evolved into a modern art form. The goal of this art is to transform a flat sheet of paper into a finished sculpture through folding and sculpting techniques, and as such the use of cuts or glue are not considered to be origami. Paper cutting and gluing is usually considered kirigami.
History of origami
Have had the most extensive tradition, there is evidence of an independent tradition of paperfolding in China, as well as in Germany, Italy and Spain among other places. However, because of the problems associated with preserving origami, there is very little direc

"Okay, tell me I'm not the only one who feels that Mrs. McLane knows a lot more than she should?" Alicia said as she buttoned up her pajama top, standing near the patio later that night. To their surprise Petricia still hadn't taken off her uniform, checking herself out in the vanity,
"I dunno anythin' about that, but that lady knows a thing or two about fashion. Is this outfit not the cutest damn thing?" Petricia caught her companions' stares through their reflections, her smile morphing into a pout. "What? Just because I'm a complete and utter badass doesn't mean I can't appreciate adorable clothes?"
Sūraja sat on her bed fully dressed for bed, her hands pressing her feet, hair in single braid. "I have also noticed that as well, Alicia. How is it that she's able to make such tailored outfits to match our personalities when she has known for less than 48 hours? It seems that she is a fountain of knowledge on many subjects and if we

new deadline: SEPTEMBER 7
Yup, just one more and for a very good reason. One of the participants who has yet to finish their entry has experienced a rather traumatic death in the family along with a few other real-life problems related to that death, as well as school starting. By itself, the school starting thing really isn't reason enough for a contest extension, but when it comes at the same time as a lot of other stressful things, yeah, that's more than enough a reason.
This will, however, be the final contest extension can't keep dragging it out.

One of the main Game Development tools out there for concept art, texture art, storyboard art, etc. Photoshop is a must have must know tool in the GDA world and is often one of the main programs installed at various studios. Photoshop has evolved from what it was originally (quite literally a photo editing tool with basic art skills) to a program a large margin of any artists use today. There's tons of tutorials out there for it and many resources out there to help with the learning process.
Photoshop is primarily but not limited to used for: texturing, concept art, post production clean up, cover art, card a

Rai rubbed his head, "Ow....." he murmured as he got to his feet. He looked around the room for a few seconds, it definately wasn't HIS room that was for sure; darkly coloured walls and carpets, death metal CDs, porn mags and some creepy ass figurines.
"Oh shit." Rai said as he realised where he was.
"I'm in Sebian's room...."
He scrambled about trying to find his clothes and after about five minutes careful searching he found one of his socks. Rai froze as he heard footsteps approaching from down the hall. In a panic Rai searched frantically for anything that would cover him, finding only a pair of black hot pants. Gasping as he pulled them on, he dived under the bed just in time as Sebian waltzed into the room looking pleased with himself. Egotistical bastard. He was wearing a pair of ripped, ass-hugging jeans and.........Rai's shirt.
"Aw crap." Rai whispered to himself, "What the fuck happened last night?!"
Sebian stopped and stared at the bed.
"Ra-chan?" he whispered.

Teen Titans: Birthmark Screenshots! For some time now, I've been wanting to do a picture of Raven from the Teen Titan's episode "Birthmark". Somehow I've just not gotten to it. Well today I decided to fix that, and started looking for some screenshots from the show for research. And...ugh. Nearly every screenshot I found was worthless. Having no choice, I pulled out my Season 4 DVD of Teen Titans and decided to grab some shots myself. (I even photoshopped a few images that were camera panning shots to make one image) Since it was a process, and maybe others have had this same frustration, I decided to upload a few of my shots for everyone. Hope this helps out! Enjoy.Teen Titans: Birthmark Screenshots!3 years ago in Personal More Like This

The button materials here are those necessary to make 1.25 inch buttons. Luckily, the process used to make pinback buttons does not change across sizes. This means you can use this process for creating 1 inch buttons as well as the 3 inch buttons!
There are various kinds of button presses and button cutters. Those used here are from http://www.buttonbiz.com/.
The button design used in this tutorial is my own creation. Please do not use it without permission.
Now, let's make some buttons!
