ChoicesThis time, I stepped upon a cloud. For once, I thought I had arrived in hell. In the red blood sky, it was hard not to notice or feel the heat of the orange giant star.Choices1 year ago in Flash Fiction & Vignettes

"What are you doing here!? To the base now!"
I turned to see a winged creature. An angel in hell? I wasn't staying here any longer. I pressed shut my eyes and evaporated.
I stepped out and looked around. People here seemed sympathetic enough.
"What did he do?" I asked a by-stander, pointing to someone being arrested by a weird clothed man.
"Walked on the lawn of the park. The execution's tonight."
What was the meaning of this?
"You, who are you?" The same weird man walked to me. "You are in breach of the first law for not wearing your ID."
I emerged into another world. Maybe this was the one? Yet, before me, a girl crept towards some guard, knife in hand. From behind, I covered her mouth with my hand and pulled her away.
"Who goes there?" the guard shouted.
Fortunately, he didn't notice us.

Their blood starts flames anew,
Their sad calls bring joy,
and thier eyes humble dragons.
The most beautiful creature to fly,
To soar the skies.
I was born a Phoenix,
A child of flame under the moon.
How I used to soar,
Features flowing like a rising moon,
No one could keep me down.
But a lonely life was not for me.
I searched for others,
Birds of other elements,
Dragons, Kirin, and even Swan Maidens,
I searched them all out.
All were hornless snakes in feathered robes.
My trust started to wean.
Between each betrayal I shed blood,
I started anew.
But now, I see the bars,
The blanket over me,
The small darkness I now live in.
At times the blanket is lifted,
Far from my cage,
And humans come and laugh.
At times the blanket is merely pushed aside,
So I hide in the darkness.
And at times,
The door seems open.
That is when I fight,
I will escape my prison,
Though I fear a lonely life ahead.
My heart wishes for friends,
A partner at least.
