'Thugs and criminals'Some people, even some people we all know and love here on the Deviantarts, have described some recent events as "criminals" and "thugs" getting what they "deserve." They refer, of course, to the widely discussed issue of American police repeatedly killing black men.'Thugs and criminals'6 months ago in Personal More Like This
Let's look at some of these "criminals" and what they did to "deserve" being shot to death, shall we?
-Trayvon Martin was unarmed, had no history of violence, and was walking home with snacks. We have no evidence that he threatened or harmed George Zimmerman except for Zimmerman's own claims, which occured after Zimmerman defied 911 operators and continued to stalk and harass this boy he did not know, who exhibited no criminal activity. Zimmerman, meanwhile, has a history of violence and domestic abuse, including threatening an ex wife with a gun.
-No evidence demonstrates that Mike Brown commited a crime.

Saturday morning cartoons are no more
By Gail Sullivan September 30
After these messages, Saturday morning cartoons will not be right back. At least not the way some of you remember them.
“The Smurfs,” “Scooby Doo,” “The Jetsons,” “Ghostbusters,” “Animaniacs,” “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” and other cartoons of Gen X childhoods aren’t gone, but their dedicated time slot is. So what? kids these days might say. But the nostalgic among us remember a time when cartoons weren’t a la
Bomango ze Tango!I'm going to get ahead of this right now and say that this might not be a riveting read for folks. Bad advertising, I know, but I feel it's necessary to preface this by being realistic. I'm not uber-famous, my characters aren't known far and wide, and for Pete's sake, I don't even have a proper webcomic or series to speak of. But, I've been asked numerous questions enough that it might be useful to have a FAQ essay of sorts to clear the air a bit.Bomango ze Tango!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
So here goes...a history of "Bomango", as best I can recall...
ORIGIN! (in real life)(image circa way the hell back when i was still spelling it GoGo BoManGo)
"Bomango" (as it's come to be known) came about maybe around 2004 or thereabouts...shoot, maybe 2003, which makes it a decade old already...sheesh. Anyway, the earliest drawings of "Gogo" were sketchbook illustrations of a big-eyed girl in a long jacket. Not anime-style big eyes, mind you...big, droopy, heavily-lined eyes, wi
Ten of the worst anti-feminism argumentsA growing number of people on Deviantart fancy themselves part of an "anti social justice" movement. In their eyes, white, straight men are being unfairly bullied and oppressed by women, minorities and the LGBT community. To them, requests for equal treatment somehow go too far, and backlash against the prejudiced is somehow a greater evil than prejudice was to begin with. Eventually I'll be writing something like this for racial issues, but for now, we're going to focus on the increasingly hostile, extremist "anti-feminist" subculture and the faultiest talking points of their agenda.Ten of the worst anti-feminism arguments7 months ago in Personal More Like This
Argument: "You're the real misogynist by painting women as victims"
This common "point" is a surefire way to make yourself look like a remorseless villain. The idea behind this sad tactic is to make the "feminist" feel like they're insulting women by insinuating that discrimination affects women at all, the idea being that only "weak" women would ever have a problem with misogynistic behavior to be
What Freedom of Speech actually means. In America, "Freedom of Expression" and "Free Speech" refers to a constitutional right to express your opinions without being silenced or prosecuted by the government or police. What Freedom of Speech actually means.7 months ago in Personal More Like This
This is a legal protection in place so that the people can criticize the behavior of authority figures on equal grounds.
For some inexplicable reason, many people believe "Free Speech" extends further to civilian interactions. People claim their "freedom" is being violated when a website like Deviantart takes down their work, or when they experience harsh backlash for their opinions and beliefs.
In other words, call someone out on even the most vile, aggressive hate speech and they'll almost invariably fall back on some rant about their "freedom" to "express" themselves.
Unfortunately for the racists, misogynists, transphobes, homophobes and other anthropomorphic sewage, the right to free speech simultaneously means that others have the right to speak against you, and yes, police your words in their own spaces.

Now, what comes with the territory are the following questions, which I'll answer now:
1. How do they stand up like that?
Obvious answer 1: Why, on their feet, of course!
Obvious answer 2: They're two dimensional, they're not actually standing.
Serious answer: Let's talk about anatomy for a little while here. Breasts are largely made up of fatty tissue, which is not as dense as muscle. A breast the size of say, someone's entire torso, will not weigh as much as the weight a pregnant woman is carrying around. The pregnant woman is carrying fluid, tissue, and another being's muscle and bones inside of her. Barring medical issues, she can still stand up. Hell, Octomom could stand, and she was carrying around 145 extra pounds with all those babies inside of her. Ev

The Bible as a State Book (Gods No!)So, I ran across this on a Tennessee state senator's Facebook page...The Bible as a State Book (Gods No!)4 months ago in Personal More Like This
For those hot on this issue, is making the bible an official state book a restriction on the people or the government? I think the state constitution specifically forbids it but were it not there my question is should it be?
Yeah, apparently my backwards state is thinking about making the Bible the state book.
FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THE GODS....HELL FUCKING NO!
Should the Bible become our state book? The answer is no.
Because not everyone believes in the Bible. Not everyone follows that book. Making the Bible the state book restricts the people. Even in my state, not everyone is Christian! I'm not Christian. My mother and stepfather are not either. This would hurt us a lot. It would hurt many people who choose not to follow the belief in Christ.
I have seen what happens when people in the government favor one

Alrighty. Cause I'm one of those corny types, I want to do something special for the 1-year anniversary for Portal 2. I figured it would make it a group effort, as all of us have been part of this one year period of testing. So, you know what that means? That's right!
Collaborative Testing Effort!
Or... collaborative art effort... Whichever.
Anyway, what I'm getting at, is we're going to do another big collab. This one will have NO participation limit, so everyone is free to join in! What we're going to do is a collab where everyone draws themselves as test subjects. Here's the sketch for the background that I have in mind: http://i44.tinypic.com/2m4w0f5.png
I'll make it however long as I'll need to, depending on how many people I get.
However, here are few rules/guidelines for submission:
1. Only ONE submission per person
2. Only draw YOURSELF in the picture. No Cores or Cakes or Cubes with you. I'll be decorating some of the negative space with notable

Alright, alright, settle down. While this isn't crazy serious, it's still an update worth note!
Throughout history, art and artists have challenged preconceived notions, pushed boundaries and taken on subjects often considered taboo. Art is alive and constantly changing, much like the community at deviantART is. The CEA Team believes that deviantART policy must grow, adapt and change, to allow artists to push boundaries and express themselves whenever legally and morally possible. Policy must remain flexible in order for something, which was initially ruled as an absolute, to bend and change in order to allow for artists and quality to shine through.
One example of this kind of challenge to policy is with FindChaos's Lesbians 101 series-- a quirky and o
Definition of RapeRape is considered to be a special kind of evil. There are those that even consider it to be worse than murder, labeling it a kind of living death. But there is no doubt that rape is a very traumatic experience for anyone to be forced to go through. It destroys a person's sense of self-worth, can result in horrendous injuries and psychological scarring, and can require years of therapy and help in order to recover from it. And though I do not claim to be an expert on the subject, I don't doubt that some if not many people never truly recover from such a horrendous ordeal.Definition of Rape2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Now, rape has had different definitions over the years, but the present legal definition of rape is "A criminal offense defined in most states as forcible sexual relations with a person against that person's will".
Note that there is no reference to the gender of either the assailant or the victim in this definition. The reason for that is because there have been cases of woman-on-woman rape, man-on-man rape, and yes,

It was awesome. I went in expecting hardcore action and kickass ladies, but I got so much more.
Yes, it has one long action scene at the start, a somewhat calm middle, and then another long action scene at the end, but somehow it manages to tell an interesting story throughout. It doesn't make any sense when I say it, it has to be seen to be understood.
The movie is surprisingly sympathetic towards its characters. They're complex and develop naturally. Even the psychotic War Boys who dream of dying violently in battle have proper backstories that make them more sympathetic, even if we can't forgive their behavior.
It's very much a "show, don't tell" movie though. They don't tell us the war boys are just misguided and ignorant little kids who have been brainwashed by Joe. They show us the war pups as they are before they become war boys, and how desperate the war boys are for Joe's attention.

Guys are fascinated by them.
Through single-digit ages, they find the very concept of them hilarious, and when puberty kicks in the mere thought of lady-lumps generally causes some movement in the trouser department. These weak-willed creatures will follow them anywhere and they will do almost anything if it means simply being permitted to gaze upon them for a few moments more.
The entertainment industries, from the big movie makers to the lowly art whores (like me) know this, and have played upon it for years in order to separate males from their money. As a result, mass media is awash with the female form in all manner of provocative poses and dress.
Many women are fed up with this, but is the whole thing “sexist”?
Well, it’s impossible and indeed wrong to say a whole industry is one thing or another. Ultimately it’s all one, big, dumb organism that simply moves with the cultural winds. It perpetuates what sustains it. It’s only when you break it

A Pop Culture Interpretation of The Supernatural
Every culture around the world created gods and other mythical beings by mixing and matching fanged and taloned animal parts—e.g., enormous eagle heads on lions’ bodies—human beings have always seemed to need to believe there are powerful and usually quite vengeful supernatural beings lurking just beyond the candlelight.
Supernatural beings come to serve several purposes:
They kept people on the lighted path of truth and goodness, fearful of exploring beyond;
They were a reminder of the punishment we deser

Which is about the color....
Most specifically, the color I.K.B. Which is an acronym for International Klein Blue. Which is a pigment invented by Yves Klein. In fact that image up there is the painting Klein did.
Who then painted a single canvas with his invented pigment like a giant assed color swatch you'd see at a Home Depot.
And yes, your kid can do that. Very easily. With the color of IKB. Now granted, he or she would not be able to create the pigment, but yeah, he or she can paint exactly what he painted. Hell, I could easily do it by painting my door.
And the film Blue was created by an art filmist named Derek Jarman, who died of AIDS in 1994. As he was making the film, he was succumbing to detached retinas, which means he was going blind. And it goes into the deeper meaning of blue, which was for a time before the creation of Photoshop, di

Which is ONE of the reasons why I'm not writing in those cities.

I realize that everyone is different, and this particular fascination might have evolved out of more or less deep subconscious
areas of your mind. But I will assume in most of you its pretty deep. In my case it has to do with so called

What I wanted to say... is: Don't be afraid of who you are... Always tell the truth about your likes (when somebody

you as a stronger person, because you are not afraid of rejection amongst your friends or a family. They may joke
