Heal My Wounds--Chapter 2Kaidan jumped out of the Normandy and onto the street below. The major had convinced Joker to let him out beside the hospital instead of going to a docking bay. He was hellbent on seeing John before he did anything else. He wasn't going to do anything else until he saw the Commander, regardless of what he was asked. Yes, he was an Alliance soldier to his core, but Shepard needed someone to be there for him. He had just saved the galaxy. The least that Kaidan could do was be there as he recovered. The others stayed on board and waited until Joker was granted permission to land. His eyes rested on the building that had the sign "Charing Cross Hospital" and he felt himself growing beyond anxious.
He walked into the hospital, the features on his face smooth and calm, the complete opposite of his inner feelings. He was thinking a million thoughts and they blurred together, his heart was racing and adrenaline was coursing through his veins. He walked to the receptionist's desk and she
What if This Storm EndsGarrus ran into the hospital, quick on his feet. He had to get to Jane, regardless of who tried to stop him. He darted around several people, ignoring the medical staff and others that were shouting at him. He had to see Shepard, even if she was already gone, he needed to be able to see her, to hold her, just one last time. That was all he needed. The turian had heard the news of her survival, but her unlikely odds of recovery. What if This Storm Ends2 years ago in Romance More Like This
Her words rang like a bell in his mind;
'There's only so much fight in a person...only so much death you can take before...' No, he couldn't think about that. Garrus knew that Shepard was strong and he knew that she would at least try to fight against it. She was the owner of her life and her death. However, from what he had heard, this time it was different.
He wasn't ready to accept that she wasn't going to make. Jane was a fighter, it's what she lived for. She laughed at death; the Sole Survivor of Akuze, destroyer of the Collectors. She

Commander Shepard was used to long days. As she rubbed the back of her neck on her way toward the elevator she reflected that people seemed to think she was invulnerable. When you were the savior of the galaxy several times over, people tended to forget that you needed little things like food and rest. It was as if they expected you to be able to live on heroism alone.
At least she finally had some time to herself. After chasing a group of slavers down, coming back to find the Alliance brass was waiting to speak to her over the comm, and arguing with them for another hour, she was able to end her shift. She was going to go back to her cabin, finally get a hot shower, then fall into bed.
However, when she finally reached the elevator, Traynor

I don't know why I am writing you this letter... It just seems like it is something that I must do. There are so many things that I've been meaning to say to you. I probably will never send this letter to you, or ever give it to you by hand because of the contents, but I feel that I should write these words regardless...
I-Ich Liebe Dich.
Yes, my little Italian friend. Not only do I love you...but I'm afraid that I have fallen in love with you. That is why every time you are near, I act so...distant. Ugh! I sound so terrible right now, I'm aware. I just...
I just don't know how to say it...I've never felt anything for anyone as I feel for you. Your idiotic spacey nature, you're inability to focus, you're nonsensical nudity, you're shyness, everything.

Sweet Dreams GerItaLight footfalls sounded through a darkened hallway. Brunette locks swayed languidly as a lithe frame walked into an even darker room. Halting at the doorway, the tan figure closed his caramel-honey pools and took a breath to help further hush his on edge nerves. Feliciano hadn't had a night terror to this extent for some time and he knew the only way that his mind and body would be at ease was if his body was lying next to his best friend, Ludwig.Sweet Dreams GerIta4 years ago in Romance More Like This
Now, the young Vargas knew that Ludwig looked at him as a bother, but a friend nonetheless; but this didn't alter, nor pause the Italian's growing connection with the older lad. So he willed his feet to move closer to the bed of the snoring man. He chose his steps carefully, not wanting to step on a loose plank of the worn out wooden floor. He knew that if he were to make the slightest noise before crawling into the bed with the German, he would be scolded and sent away within seconds.
Success was his. He had managed to avoid the floorboards

Heal My Wounds--Chapter 1"Joker, I don't care what you have to do, get us back to Earth," Kaidan's voice was sharp and demanding as he ran into the cockpit. The thought of his commander gone was just too much for him to accept. There were too many words that still needed to be shared, so much more to be done between them. The flight lieutenant nodded, having suffered a loss of his own, finding Shepard would have been a welcomed distraction. Even though that Shepard had told he and EDI not to get together, he still felt the impact of her loss.

On her first night together with Garrus, Shepard had been mildly concerned about the talons that she knew turians possessed. She trusted Garrus with all of her heart and knew that he never intentionally harm her, but there was that instinctual distrust of sharp claws near her softer human flesh. Of course she had been thinking of entirely different things by the time that evening reached the stage where his gloves came off, and then she didn't' have the luxury to think about minor details until after they had blow the Collector base to bits.
Being under house arrest had given her more than enough time to think, and Garrus was one of the happy memories she had she to stave on the crushing boredom. One of the questions those memories brought up was if turian anatomy charts and Alliance descriptions of turian talons as 'vicious natural weapons' were overly exaggerated or if Garrus had blunted his just for her.

She stared at Garrus with a curious disposition. "I don't know, Garrus... I thought that you would have wanted to stay in bed," she teased playfully. The turian sighed and shook his head.
"As inviting as that sounds, we have the rest of our lives to lie in bed. For now, I just want to celebrate the fact that your alive after that," there was a hint of sorrow in his voice but the rest was sheer joy.

One of the most useful skills Garrus had picked up during his C-sec days was the ability to read the mood of a room the moment he walked into it. He'd always had a feel for it even back when he was in the military, but it was on the Citadel where he had really refined it. That skill had saved his life more than once on Omega.
Now, that old skill made sure he was aware of the strange feeling in the air on the crew deck as he traced the path from the main battery to the kitchen. He hadn't noticed it when he had first walked down the stairs, but as he rummaged around in the fridge he felt that slight shift. There was a sudden silence, then a flurry of whispers among the few crew members he had seen, and a few accompanying twitters.

It was one of the stranger sights Garrus Vakarian had seen on the Citadel. Odd enough to make him stop in place and wonder if he should be in amazed, confused, or slightly intimidated. Probably all three at once, he decided at last.
He had never seen so much pink in his life. Well, pink mixed with plenty of reds, whites, and the occasional smattering of purple. This was the third human shop he had seen with those decorations (although this was the gaudiest one to date),and if the crowds around it were any indication, he was going to have to admit that maybe Joker had actually been serious when he insisted that Valentines Day was one of the most important of human holidays.
