Sucker Punch Behind The Scenes
Although I would love it if you watched the video, it shows no where near as much work as was put into this shoot. Some of this is embarrassing but I love reading about people's mistakes and how they overcame them. So here are mine.
I bought the costume last November, thinking I would be able to shoot the next week, edit easy peasy and be done in a month. Right.
I booked the first model several times over the course of 3 months but she flaked every time. I'm actually quite happy, as Laura turned out to be PERFECT, easy going, and an overall better model. Laura was kind enough to shoot with me twice, as I was hesitant about the poses I picked out. We kept some, threw out others and added new ones for the second time around.
For the WWI shot, I first tried to make the Notre Dame ruins by hand or find realistic models used for game tables. Turns out no one buys them anymore and thus I had no luck finding one. I att

Maybe some of you know it.
But here in german Cosplay scene, and perhaps also for many other countries it's really a novelty.
It can be used for paper decoration, for gemstones, paint and much more.
In this tutorial I made a kind of decoration for costumes versions/ setting f

Have you suggested a Daily Deviation Today?Have you suggested a Daily Deviation Today?3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
What is a Daily Deviation?
The Daily Deviation is a daily feature chosen from the galleries here on deviantART.
A small assortment of submissions are chosen each day by a select group of staff/volunteer members who wish to showcase an image which they found impressive or otherwise interesting enough to deserve being brought to the attention of the community-at-large.
The staff/volunteer members responsible for selecting submissions for the daily feature often are open to suggestions and individual community members may direct their attention by noting the appropriate Community Volunteer or staff member with a direct link to the deviation which you are suggesting and a brief description about why you think the work in question should be featured.
How To Suggest a Daily Deviation:
-Find a deviation on deviantART that you would like to see feat
Contest!I am strangely fascinated by half finished pictures. I love the way that in amongst all the rough sketching there is a section of shaded, finished 3D image and it makes me think pencils are amazing.Contest!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
So! I decided to host a Half Finished Contest!
-the final piece must only be half finished, for example a girl in a dress where only the dress is finished and shaded and the girl is still sketch, or the girl is finished and the dress is sketched.
-But I don't want WIPs, I want pictures that look intentionally unfinished.
-It must be in a traditional medium.
Since this is the contest for PencilsPlusArtists I doubt it'll be particularly big, so the prizes will only be small.
1st Place: 3 Months Premium Membership
2nd Place: 600 points
3rd Place: 200 points
All of these will also recieve a llama badge and a feature on my page.
Send me a link to your picture or post it to the Competition folder here at PencilsPlusArtists. Feel free to ask any questions you'd like.

First of all, I would like to apologize for not responding to comments, and being slow on notes! I have been very busy with a project over the past year that I am excited to announce now. Later this month I will be releasing a collection of preliminary work from my Thumbelina series, inspired by the writings of Hans Christian Andersen.
The images will include sketches and underpaintings from the first part of the series, and will be bound into a softcover book. The book will be 38 pages, and include over 50 working images that have been my initial steps in creating the collection of existing paintings, as well as future images. Reviews: Cosplay Wig ShopsSo, here we start with the review thingy about cosplay stuff.Reviews: Cosplay Wig Shops2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Since I ran into a loooooooooooot of trouble in the past weeks regarding wigs I will start with them.
First of all some general important informations:
- ALWAYS keep an eye on the feedback of a shop. If there are negative or natural feedbacks READ THEM. Not every negative feedback is appropriate and some shops sell more than just wigs. So be careful.
- ALWAYS be carefull with shops that advertise with asian cosplayers. A lot of pictures are taken from the japanese highclass cosplaysupplier cospediawig or the chinese Tabaeo stores. Have a close look at the pictures. Often you can see some blured details or removed watermarks. I even found some fellow non asian cosplayers by now as advertisment for wigs they definitely didn't buy.
Some shops even take pictures from wigs on wigsstands from other sellers. Look and think twice if you buy there. You can be lucky and get what you see, but there is a pretty high chance you ge

I'm still working through the endless mire that is my commissions list.

Don't let anyone belittle you or your work!I've been catching up a lot on dA since I got back and have been a bit surprised by some of the things going on. I've noticed that some of the wonderful artists I love and admire are being pushed aside for some ... interesting works. I won't get into a debate on this, at the end of the day, this is just my opinion. But how can a quick sketch that has been edited in photoshop to add some sparkle, outrank something that someone has put 30+ hours into and is pencil perfection? I don't understand the world anymore. Anyway, I just wanted to say I still appreciate your work and dedication .. for what that's worthDon't let anyone belittle you or your work!5 months ago in Personal More Like This
The next thing I want to say, and this is based on observation and on a conversation or two I've been having. Have you ever felt belittled or put down in your art because someone tells you that 'it's not the right way'? I have some issues with this and felt the need to vent a little bit, so I'll list my wafflings below

Contest! Girl with a FlowerGirl with a Flower ContestContest! Girl with a Flower2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I haven't hosted a contest in a long time, so I figured I would host a little contest since I have some points.
The objective is simple. Draw a girl with a flower! It can be one flower or it can be many. It can just be a simple flower in the hair, a flower incorporated into her jewelry, a flowery pattern on clothing, a flower tattoo design, a flowery background, or she can simply just be holding a flower. It's up to you. Let's just see what beautiful art you can make with this idea. Here are some great examples by some amazing artists- http://gabbyd70.deviantart.com/favourites/46685415

You may make a drawing or painting and it may be made either traditionally, digitally, or a mix of both. It can be one flower or it
