"Consider the Following"
"It's Science!" And fashion... Not really a weird combination after this year's Project Runway finalist utilized 3D printing to make his accessories and based his inspiration around the science of being able to hear. So for your weekly challenge I want you to pick a scientific subject - biology, genetics, chemistry, etc. - and create a gown that could walk the red carpet at a gala event held at the Smithsonian. I would love to see scientific patterns.
Oh, and for a bonus 5 points, can you tell me what children's show the two quotes at the beginning of this post are from?
Your designs are due no later then November 17th @ Midnight PST! and you can submit your design here: http://catwalkchallenge.deviantart.com/gallery/45399690

Ladies and gentlemen we have our results for the Project Runway Season 10 Challenge here at the Catwalk! I just want to take a moment to thank all of those that participated and to once more Congratulate our finalists... Congratulations! You have all stuck with us and worked very hard to come to this point.
On to the results!
In our polls Miss-Bow reached in and stole away with 1st place in all three! The final judging, however, was actually VERY close with only a point or two differing between the finalists. With it all being added together this is how the scores fell:
2nd Runner Up: Kimiko-Takahashi-Tan
With 11 points overall.
KattaHanna81: Everything works well together, the collection looks like it could be worn to work, the to drinks with the girls, or on a date, a few casual pieces intermixed, nice overall collection.
Kawaii-Kochou: It has been an amazing seeing you progress in this competition. I'm very happy to know t
Writing Without Publishing: raspil speaksRecently it was pointed out to me that, overall, discussions on literature around these parts focus on writers who want to publish. I'm one of those people. I don't understand not writing your work for fame or money. However, I do know someone who's all about improvement and has no interest in publishing. So I asked `raspil to answer a few questions and she did so in the best raspil style. Why You Should Keep WritingWhy You Should Keep Writing1 year ago in Literature Features More Like This
Q: What do you guys think of my story so far? Should I keep going?
This seems to be a very popular question. I'll argue it's a useless question, and explain why.
This reply is directed at new writers, and despite the tone that may follow, I really do intend to be sincere and helpful. I was once a newbie, too. And although I'm certainly not going to claim to be great, I've fallen flat on my face enough times to learn how to pick myself up and produce something I'm proud of.
Here's why you need to not ask this question. You're either going to succeed, or you're going to fail. But, either way, you'll be better off for having:
2. Figured out how to motivate yourself to continue
3. Completed the entire first run of the story yourself
1 ~ I can speculate that there are plenty of people out there who are afraid of failure. I know first-hand. I'm not a professional writer. I teach mathematics. And it is my job every Fall to convince a hu

This is a template can be used to help you place each week's designs in winning order. 2. All designs must be complete originals. No copies, No stealing. Also, they must comply with the design requirements, Costume based off a song.

With so many breeds available to choose from, I decided to cross another challenge off the Help Wanted list and offer this up to you... with a few min or changes, of course. Instead of designing a look for both dog and owner, you are to design a casual day look inspired by a dog breed. You will have a few different breeds to choose from and you can submit up to 5 designs, so here is your list of inspirations:
This challenge will close on November 30th at Midnight PST.

Write a story about something that was better left unsaid but was actually spoken.
Yes, I'm phoning this one in because phoning it in is better than skipping out on my responsibilities. I'd rather phone in a prompt than not post one at all. I am not happy about this but I think there can be some good results because you guys are smart and talented. You can think of this one as a softball or a breather all you want, won't change the fact that I'll come back with something to kick your butts later on.
Word count minimum is 2000. No vignettes/single scenes. Any POV, any genre.
It is due at the end of October.

ScreamPrompt #28, September 2012In the hopes of maybe spurring more than 14 of you to write a story for the group this month... I'm going to have to do something drastic. I'm expecting stories from each of you because there is no excuse for not doing the following: I feel like making you all get introspective and personal. We're familiar with the tired advice of "write what you know", so that's what we're gonna do this month. There is no way there should be any stragglers with this one. You all know something, right?ScreamPrompt #28, September 20121 year ago in Personal More Like This
Think of a word/adjective you don't like being called. Tell a story about someone (NOT YOU) fitting this adjective. Something bad should happen to them that should teach them a lesson and they end up redeeming themselves in the end.
What word/adjective you don't like being called? For me, that would be "princess". In the past, the guys in the kitchen would call me that and I'd have no ide

I apologize for last week. To be honest, I do not know what happened Sunday, why I didn't post anything. But when I noticed I didn't post anything, it was a bit late in the week so I decided to just wait until today to post. I'm giving you double to work with.
Here's this week's prompts (and prompts making up for last week's absence):
“Another day, nothing.”
“You leave for a minute. When you come back, your chair is missing. What happened to it?”
“What is the real story behind the counter girl at your local 7-eleven? Create one.”
“Your favorite Halloween.”
“Your next step may be your last.”
“You meet someone with a metal arm.”
You encounter a ship made entirely from solid gold.”
“Create a piece that does not focus on being perfect, but just being finished.”
“Depict inanimate objects taking a nap.”
“Play a game with your shadow.”

Hey lookie here, it is the last day of September. You know... September 30th, 2012 is probably never going to happen again... At least not in our lifetimes... I sometimes trip out when I think about things that way. ANYWAY... So this time I'm posting prompts on Sunday... Late Sunday evening, but Sunday nonetheless.
Here's this week's prompts:
“The question is not ‘Who am I?’ The question is ‘What am I?’”
“A demon tells you that you do not need to fear it.”
“You promised to use your powers for good but break your promise.”
“You went camping. At night, you hear a suspicious noise so you leave your tent…”
“You’re in the presence of a king.”
“Slenderman finds out where you live. What does he do to you?”
Session Deadline: October 14, at 11:59PM PST.
Ahaha, this time I did not skip October.

“You next piece will focus on the daily life of a shoe.”
“Remember the chant you heard in a dim cave.”
“Create a single character that represents three things that you strongly dislike.”

I will try not to let it happen again!

Someone gets the feeling they're being watched.
I bet 3/4 of you already got an idea from that.
Here's how I make it not so easy:
The character being watched has to confront the entity watching them.
One character must be a germophobe.
It has to be at least 3000 words.
It's due on March 18, 2012. Why? Why not.
LOL LIKE I'D EVER GIVE YOU GUYS ANOTHER SOFTBALL PROMPT!
That isn't what this group is about, remember?
The potential for absolutely AMAZING work lies within all of you for this prompt. Conflict, te
ScreamPrompt #8, December 1, 2010As we know, it is December (or at least in the next two hours, PST), and I'm sure the majority of us are pretty braindead from writing novels or psychically beating ourselves up from either not finishing or writing a giant turd not fit for sighted, literate people. Either way, here we are, back again, fresh as a frozen daisy ready for another prompt.ScreamPrompt #8, December 1, 20103 years ago in Personal More Like This
The holidays come upon us in odd ways. With me, it starts with football season and doesn't end until February 15th. Those are some long, hard months. I went with a roundabout Halloween prompt and this holiday prompt will be no different. I came up with it a while back but perfected it the other day.
Here's what you do:
1. Consult this website --> http://holidayinsights.com/moreholidays/index.htm
2. Go to your birth month
3. Find your birthday
4. Discover the totally asinine holiday/s that are on it

Okay... The new challenge one 'Inspired by the creature' *http://xtremeoverdrive.deviantart.com/art/Inspired-by-the-creature-189669563*
We all love atleast one creature, whether they be Butterflies, Frogs, Flamingoes, Tigers, or some other random animal. In this challenge, you will pick a creature (Any creature), and use it as your inspiration to design a dress.
By creature I mean, any mamal, arachnid, amphibian, reptile, ect. So pretty much anything thats not a plant or human, and is alive. I couldn't find a word to name all of these collectively, except creature... so I'm going to go with that
- Try Get your colour pallet from the colour/colours of the creature itself.
- Tell me in the description which creature you were inspired by.
- As much as I love dragons, the loc

Hi! Gonna keep this one simple for those of us who are (or are not) participating in Script Frenzy, Napowrimo or Camp Nano as well...
(remember -- simple doesn't always mean easy)
I saw something at Tumblr that I thought I'd bring here just for the lulz (May, I promise, will bring pain again) and wanted to utilize it.
Work the phrase "not since the accident" into some dialogue by the main character within the first 250 words of the story.
Here are the guidelines to follow to keep things on track:
1. Must be a minimum of 2000 words, max 3000.
2. The main character has a horrible secret that is related to the "accident" they speak of. The more creative the accident, the better.
The secret cannot be that the main character is lying about the accident having even occurred.
Yeah, car accident leaps to mind first. Stop. Accidents are everywhere. Not everyone gets "hurt" in an accident. Think about what an accident

The WORST place to hear the phrase "Welcome Back."
The thing that I want to stand out is the SETTING. Sometimes settings are overlooked in stories or at very least, more phoned in than anything else. Settings are also characters, you know (well, if you didn't, you know now). We're all so much more concerned with silly things like character development and plot... so for once, let's focus in harder on something else! Where is the character? The more unique and specific the better. Say they're at the doctor's office. But are they at the proctologist? An abortionist? The plastic surgeon? Surprise me. And if you can't be unique, try harder. If you need help, note me.
Setting is key but also think about if they are with someone for the first time. Or their grandmother.
Why is it the worst place for them to hear this phrase?

This was originally a Sign up Challenge but I felt that with the sheer number of looks needed to make up the final collection it would fare far better as our new Year Long Challenge!
The Run Down
For this challenge you are tasked with creating a complete, cohesive, collection based upon 14 of our world's wondrous sights. You can create something literal, avant garde, evening gowns or casual. You can create for men, women or both! It is entirely up to you how you interpret your lists of inspirations. And just which wonders will you get to design for? Take a look below and you'll find out - Now I know that Christ the Redeemer is listed as one of the Man Made Wonders but the Great Pyramid was given honorable mention and I figured since the Harbor of Rio de Janeiro is part of the Natural Wonders, I would switch the two up.
