10 Tips for Tutorial Writing Success!10 things to consider when writing a tutorial10 Tips for Tutorial Writing Success!3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Are you interested in trying our Official Photomanipulation Tutorial Challenge but unsure of where to begin? Look no further! Here are some tips about creating a tutorial that is easy for you to write and easy for us to understand. We hope these pointers will be useful to you; as always, feel free to leave questions or comments.
1. Sit down and really think about what you are good at doing
What do people compliment you about most frequently? What are you most proud of in your manipulations so far? It could be anything, from the way you select and cut out stock to the way you make your colors pop. Start from your strength, something you can talk about with ease.
2. Take the pressure off!
No matter how "good" someone is at photomanipulation already, they still have something interesting to le
Custom Breaking Bad FiguresCustom Breaking Bad Figures4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Last year I sculpted up a few portraits of Bryan Cranston as Walter White from my favorite show "Breaking Bad". I was finally able to put the finishing touches on 3 custom figures of Walt, all of which were given to the creators of the show this past week.
It's been a helluva lot of fun, and a tremendous thrill to get to meet the artists behind this terrific show that has been so inspiring to me. Kinder people you will not meet!
So here's a look at the finished custom figures. These were pieced together from various sources, using Hot Toys bodies, and clothes I found on ebay and then altered. The heads were all painted by some talented friends of mine, and they really brought Walt to life. It's been a lot of work to try and piece these together in my free time, but I really enjoyed doing it.
ps- A random winner was chosen from my last giveaway. I'll do another giveaway in the coming months, I'm sure. thanks!

I think that may be interesting for other beginner (or advanced) artists, and landscape lovers like me.

Outlaw at the Bleeding Edge
of Independent Cinema
Movies featuring the latest in high tech digital effects, eye-popping CGI environments and ear-splitting surround sound, are often described as “pushing the envelope.” But they’re mega-million-dollar productions that are delivered back to the studios by the filmmakers precisely as pre-ordered. Rarely is there danger of disaster, so what envelope has been pushed?
“Envelope-shredder” might be a better designation for Brian Taylor...
Who, usually in collaboration with partner-in-mayhem Mark Neveldine, has given the world such films as Crank, Crank: High Voltage, Gamer, Pathology, and recently Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.

Art and fearDear, deviantart fellow artistsArt and fear2 years ago in Personal More Like This
We all fear for something - whether It's related to our art, lifes, decisions. We fear about how people will react, about how what we do can influence what will happen next. And we are humble about that.
1. Fear of critique.
People will always have their opinions about things. And sometimes they might say it out loud - whether It's a relative, teacher, random observer - the main thing is not to take things way too personal. If It's about your art - even though you put your heart and soul in it, don't be afraid to listen to advice (when it comes from someone whose opinion matters to you) and seek ways for improvement. Ignore trolls and surround yourself with people who support you and make you happy.
2. Fear of not being good enough.
Just admit that you'll never be good enough and move on. There is always so much to learn and artists work all their lifes to get the skill and make artworks with an honest effor

The 'Method'I'm often asked if I use a projector, a printed canvas or grid for my paintings.The 'Method'3 years ago in Personal More Like This
To be blunt, the answer is simple 'no'.
I do use several vertical & horizontal lines as the guide to put the object in the right position
only when the canvas is big(over 1m high).
The reason I don't use those technical methods is simple;
I'm an old-fashioned man!
I consider myself more of an old craftsman than an artist in modern-day concept.
For me, practicing and perfecting my craft is as important as creating a good piece of art.
Some people say the process doesn't matter as long as you have a good outcome, but I don't believe that.
I don't feel completely happy with the outcome even though it looks near-perfect if I don't feel that my hard work is involved.
I may work much faster and easier if I use a projector or a printed canvas,
but I'd rather train myself harder and harder to be a more skilled and versatile painter.
After all, you won't need to spend that much money on buying a projector and print

Cause its kinda something that can bother you after a while.
Don't get me wrong, i love my friends oc's, their personality's, their design, their great and i enjoy seeing them.
But sometimes its reeeeeally obvious who they are when it comes to keeping a secret identity.
Some of you may take this as a personal attack, and i get that. But please not this is not an "attack" i'm just trying to give advice on this matter.
So what i noticed in YJ is the characters who live a double live, have ways to keep their faces mostly hidden.
Artemis has a normal life where she goes to school;
She wears a mask.
Kid Flash lives a normal life with his family and goes to school;
He wears a mask.
Miss Martian has green skin but wanted to go to school like any other human being;
She hides her real skin color.

Art and talentDear, deviantart fellow artistsArt and talent1 year ago in Deviant Events More Like This
It is believed that talent is that "magical" ability that some people are born with. But sometimes, just being talented isn't enough, without hard work and persistence you won't go far.
Here are some of my thoughts about the topic and I hope that they might be helpful.
We all start from somewhere.
(That's why I also don't delete my old deviations.)
I never actually thought that I was "talented". About 3 years ago (when I also joined deviantart), I just decided that I want to pursue art as a career. I was really into photography at that time (whole 50 day sunset challenge and such), participated in as many photo contests as I could and went outside to take some photos in coldest winter days.
But then, one day, as I visited local museum there was this local exhibition of photos and there was this old and wise photographer, who said to me that i
You could win a custom charm! :DHey everyone! It's been a while since I gathered some feedback from my watchers about my shop/prices and all! Usually I use a poll, but when it comes to anonymous answers people tend to answer just for a joke, or they answer without thinking. Especially when it comes to pricing, people love to pick the cheapest option. xD Which I totally understand-- who doesn't want cool stuff for cheap?! But this time I want to get something more substantial!You could win a custom charm! :D4 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
And to inspire you to take a moment to fill it out all deviants who finish the survey will be entered into a giveaway to win a free charm from me! I will be giving away ONE 2" chibi charm, of any character you want!

I'm done with itNope, this isn't the kind of motivational stuff you'll usually read from me.I'm done with it2 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
I couldn't find the power to motivate myself today. Nor yesterday, or the day before.
The truth is; I'm doing badly. Very badly.
As some of you know I've already been having serious health problems for a while.
It all started in the first week of January, with a car crash. Another car hit mine from behind on the highway. My car was totally damaged and I was taken to the hospital for a checkup because my neck felt a bit weird. Initially everything was fine, I thought. The test proved no bones where broken. The insurance company paid up for my car (luckily -- it was very expensive). And I was allowed to go home. I did feel sick for the first few days after the accident, but I thought of it as stress, took a few aspirins, and went back to work the next Monday after that.
The first days at work were horrible. My head hurts, I felt dizzy and had a hard time focusing on my work. But again; I thought it was ju

Art and honestyDear, deviantart fellow artistsArt and honesty1 year ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Here are some of my thoughts about the topic and I hope that they might be helpful.
Honesty is such a vital moral quality of our lives.
Being honest about your technique.
I know artists who keep their secrets by themselves - they work alone, never showing or explaining what they know. I'm quite the opposite - nowadays I try to pass along the knowledge/tips that I know, because I see no reason not to. Why choose to be selfish and greedy, never helping others who may need it? (edit: yes, sometimes people won't share anything, because It's their own art and they can do whatever they want with it, it doesn't make them a bad person and it's completely their own choice)
I tend to make lots of livestreams (on younow - as much as I can) and some
