A HUGE THANK YOU to TheCreativeJenn for featuring
Again, thanks to everyone for your support! I can't say it enough! DA has been my main source for not only inspiration, but also so much valuable help and friendships formed through sharing of art - without which, I wouldn't have been able to get this far...

Here are some of my thoughts about the topic and I hope that they might be helpful.
Honesty is such a vital moral quality of our lives.
Being honest about your technique.
I know artists who keep their secrets by themselves - they work alone, never showing or explaining what they know. I'm quite the opposite - nowadays I try to pass along the knowledge/tips that I know, because I see no reason not to. Why choose to be selfish and greedy, never helping others who may need it? (edit: yes, sometimes people won't share anything, because It's their own art and they can do whatever they want with it, it doesn't make them a bad person and it's completely their own choice)
I tend to make lots of livestreams (on younow - as much as I can) and some
Art and value of timeDear, deviantart fellow artistsArt and value of time4 months ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Our lives go by so fast and the time for what we really want to do is limited. So, how to wisely value our time, how to make the best of every single day and keep on creating?
Here are some of my thoughts about the topic and I hope that they might be helpful.
Sort what are the most important things you need to do as soon as possible and start with that. Make a list with what needs to be done and sort them by how necessary it is to do them, how much time it will aproximately take and how the result could impact your life. We have to make constant sacrifices in order to achieve our goals - instead of watching that useless youtube video, instead of checking e-mail and social media sites all the time, instead of whining that there is no time, but actually using what we have - everyone of us have 24h in a day, the difference between

Let's Learn Portraiture: Model CommunicationIn an effort to further give back to the community, I have decided to kick off a series of informative articles called 'Let's Learn Portraiture.' The goal will be to cover topics related to people and portrait photography. To start, we will cover a topic suggested by ThomasJergelLet's Learn Portraiture: Model Communication2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Communicating With Your Model
Get to Know Your Subject
Different photographers take different approaches to how they interact with their models, but I've always taken a personal approach. Learning about your subject's interests can not only make them more comfortable, but it can also lead to more striking images that follow along with those interests. Communication is key when it comes to interacting with your model, and building a quick rapport is important in order to solidify that.
When working with amateur models who may not be familiar with posing for the camera, you may often find that they will resort to e
Being an ArtistSometimes when I talk to some friends here and I see their works I admire the fact of how expressive some of them can be. Sometimes I told them "You're more artist than me" and to me is true. I say that 'cause many people forget how beauty can be a face and they just want to catch the personality. I like that a lot. Sometimes I'm not able to do that even if I can get realistic portraits. I'm still finding my way in art.Being an Artist3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Maybe other people is more expressive and I can't get still what I'm searching for, but I really try to put my heart there, time, hands, eyes, brain, health, etc. All of my drawings have a meaning and in general there is a sense and all of them explain my life, my present, past and future even if they are commissions.
I try to express how much I appreciate the person or objects I'm drawing. Literally I'm an artist 'cuz I make use of a "technique" but I know the way is long to get that name deeply.
I've been working in a hard commission and the draw
I'm done with itNope, this isn't the kind of motivational stuff you'll usually read from me.I'm done with it7 months ago in Deviant Events More Like This
I couldn't find the power to motivate myself today. Nor yesterday, or the day before.
The truth is; I'm doing badly. Very badly.
As some of you know I've already been having serious health problems for a while.
It all started in the first week of January, with a car crash. Another car hit mine from behind on the highway. My car was totally damaged and I was taken to the hospital for a checkup because my neck felt a bit weird. Initially everything was fine, I thought. The test proved no bones where broken. The insurance company paid up for my car (luckily -- it was very expensive). And I was allowed to go home. I did feel sick for the first few days after the accident, but I thought of it as stress, took a few aspirins, and went back to work the next Monday after that.
The first days at work were horrible. My head hurts, I felt dizzy and had a hard time focusing on my work. But again; I thought it was ju

Favorite Artists of 2014 + Happy New Year! 'v'Hey everyone! First of all I'd like to wish you a very happy new year full of health and happiness and, of course, time to draw! I'd like to apologize that I haven't posted much art this year with all the work I have going on, but I promise to make it one of my new year's resolutions to try and draw more in 2015!Favorite Artists of 2014 + Happy New Year! I had a great experience here on dA. The website had its ups and downs, with all those updates no one approved of, but I met many great friends and artists who will always be in my memories and be regarded as good friends and inspiration! Both new and old, here are some artists I have either known for a long time and am great friends with or new faces who I'm sure will also be great friends in the future!
Here they are, in no particular order!

Troll pollution? What's up with all the troll accounts of really bad taste lately?Troll pollution?6 months ago in Deviant Events More Like This
I wish dA would simply ban these people, when they are polluting this site on purpose and act like total jerks screaming for attention? (I mean, it's not even funny at all.) There are these people I have to keep reporting, since they upload commissioned works and my clients are really unhappy about it. Once it gets taken down, I have to report it AGAIN AND AGAIN since it get reposted again!? I have MUCH better things to do than deal with kids like this.
And they accuse the real artists to steal from them when the trust is so obvious? What kind of trolling is that, are they even trying?
And the death threat jokes...
This have gone way too far beyond stupidity x__x
I'm not sure if people realise they can get in LEGIT trouble for doing things like this? (but they are probably too young and ignorant to care) are they really that desperate and have nothing better and productive to do? That's really... sad.
Now it's just extre

[MacType] New font smoother for windowsHeya folks,[MacType] New font smoother for windows3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I don't know about you, but I was always sick of the default windows font rendering, that's why I used GDI++ with Windows XP and GDIpp with Win7, until a few months ago GDIpp worked great, but then there where a lot of compatibility issues (Google Chrome/Firefox).
Now I found this http://www.mediafire.com/?8cnc6v7z7w4e647 on a chinese board http://bbs.themex.net/forumdisplay.php?f=88 (yeah yeah yeah, at least with google translate I could read something )
Works awesome and you can switch language, still a pretty shitty translation, but great tools to create configs and it runs as a service.
Check it out
PS: added a screenshot http://dl.dropbox.com/u/70350/screens/201112190832.jpg
there is a new google code site available with a new installer http://code.google.com/p/mactype/
PSS: the update fixed some issues with chrome/firefox

5 Tips on Creating Dynamic Character1. Start with a concept. This is how most of my characters start, and they usually begin with two or three word descriptors. "Demon stallion" or "spoiled dragon prince" or "psychic dolphin". Characters as this stage are more anima than anything; they are forces at play in the primordial soup of story. When an idea is this new, I try not to focus on it too much. Ideas need time to germinate, and I've found myself disappointed in times past when the potential of the character was so much more exciting than the concrete reality of what they became. Since during this time I'm developing plot and main conflict, I try to move characters around and see who I gravitate towards. This helps story and character grow organically. It's during this time that I try and determine what the character struggles with, the yin and yang of their internal difficulty. For example, I was recently asked to come up with a character for an urban fantasy roleplay, with no real details about th5 Tips on Creating Dynamic Character2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Street Photography for Beginners: The Golden RuleStreet photography seems to be gaining popularity with each passing day. The difference is substantial from when I started just two years ago. Not only is street photography becoming more popular, but street photography is also becoming a lot more of an accepted mainstream form of photography, now being included in International Photography Festivals, gallery exhibits. As such, many more photographers are attempting to try their hand at it.Street Photography for Beginners: The Golden Rule2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Often though, as with many forms of photography, begininng street photographer become frustrated because their images just don't have the "pop" that they see in other street photographers work. Beginner street photographers can find this frustrating because they just don't understand why their images aren't working, it is just photographs of random people on the street right?
Unfortunately, this is one of the greatest misconceptions about street photography. There is so much more to a well exec
The 'Method'I'm often asked if I use a projector, a printed canvas or grid for my paintings. The 'Method'2 years ago in Personal More Like This
To be blunt, the answer is simple 'no'.
I do use several vertical & horizontal lines as the guide to put the object in the right position
only when the canvas is big(over 1m high).
The reason I don't use those technical methods is simple;
I'm an old-fashioned man!
I consider myself more of an old craftsman than an artist in modern-day concept.
For me, practicing and perfecting my craft is as important as creating a good piece of art.
Some people say the process doesn't matter as long as you have a good outcome, but I don't believe that.
I don't feel completely happy with the outcome even though it looks near-perfect if I don't feel that my hard work is involved.
I may work much faster and easier if I use a projector or a printed canvas,
but I'd rather train myself harder and harder to be a more skilled and versatile painter.
After all, you won't need to spend that much money on buying a projector and print
