omgI was trying out Krita (a free drawing software) brushes, and had the biggest surprise to see this:omg2 years ago in Personal More Like This
At first I was like "woah, this looks so much like my brush texture (that I really like and often use), this brush will be very useful!....w w-wait a minute."
These are the brushes I made available in a free psd brush pack a long time ago:
The "sponge-brush" in Krita is the EXACT same texture I made, but mirrored xD
It's a texture from a pattern I also made and mixed with other brushes from this pack. Here is the pattern for anyone who would be interested:
I do not blame them for this, I just found this funny and a bit flattering. My textures were made free to use, and Krita is also a free software, so I honestly do not mind at all :b
I was not expecting my brush pack to have been so much popular and used, I looked it up and my pack is now available on many sit

At the beginning of August I found myself at a hospital, diagnosed with gallstones. The only effective way of getting rid of them is to remove the whole gallbladder altogether. Unfortunately it quickly got much worse. I got a severe case of cholecystitis and developed a hydrocele. It was suspected that the inflammation started to spread to my peritoneum and liver. Even more unfortunately it didn't stop there. During all the medical examination I went through during the next few weeks it was discovered that everything was in fact caused by gallbladder cancer, which before was wrongly identified as inflamed tissue.
You can probably imagine how devastated I was after getting the news - after weeks of pain I got to know that I had cancer with extremely poor prognosis and had absolutely no money for a surgery.
Desperate I turned to my

Dream JOB #loveitHi everyone!Dream JOB #loveit4 months ago in Personal More Like This
I haven't been around for quite some time, but I have a good reason for it ;3
As some of you know for past months I've been learning and taking courses and finally, in the end of March, I pluck up courage and send my application to some advertising agency!
They responded almost immediately and invited me for interview.
Imagine how scared I was! @_@
Yes. Yes. Scared. I mean... They could actually hire me!! xD
...at this point I lost my courage and was 100% sure that I wasn't ready for it xD
But the interview went pretty smoothly and from this point everything went so fast!
They took me by surprise and in the end of day I was going home with signed contract xD
Since the beginning of the month I work as FRONT-END WEB DEVELOPER #loveit
Ah. I'm so proud of myself ^w^
I still think that I'm not ready for it, but work is great so I'm trying my best ;3

I don't know about you, but I was always sick of the default windows font rendering, that's why I used GDI++ with Windows XP and GDIpp with Win7, until a few months ago GDIpp worked great, but then there where a lot of compatibility issues (Google Chrome/Firefox).
Now I found this http://www.mediafire.com/?8cnc6v7z7w4e647 on a chinese board http://bbs.themex.net/forumdisplay.php?f=88 (yeah yeah yeah, at least with google translate I could read something )
Works awesome and you can switch language, still a pretty shitty translation, but great tools to create configs and it runs as a service.
Check it out

PE: Creating your own MangaIntroductionPE: Creating your own Manga1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
You have a great story, a bunch of characters and you want to create a manga. However, where do you start? Do you have it Left->Right or Right->Left? How should you publish it (*note: some publishers may have additional requirements/restrictions)?
The process is pretty much the same for any graphic progression such as comics.
Luckily, there are a great number of tutorials to help you on your way.
A storyboard is a panel or series of panels which detail the sequence of significant events in a planned scene, i.e. a rough sketch coupled with some words to describe the actions in the scene.
At this point you'd need to have an idea of whether you are making a left->right or right->left manga and your story has been separated into scenes and plot points you wish to use to drive your story.

Dear deviantART...I am refusing to use the rebranded name because, I'm annoyed about the rebrand. I'm annoyed about your direction, your lack of focus in key areas and your lack of communication. I said I'd never be a bitter former staff member, but it seems that I am.Dear deviantART...1 month ago in Personal More Like This
Last year you spent a lot of money on a rebrand, this year you've cut 50% of your work force, entire departments have been decimated and peoples lives have been thrown upside down without notice. But you never really communicated to anyone why. You still don't, you're not telling the community what's happening and that's only going to hurt you. People will see that helpdesk tickets take longer to get a response, people see that lots of people are no longer staff and you're not letting them know why. You know that people have a belief that the site is dying, you're only furthering it right now. How much of a better state would the site be in if the rebrand hadn't happened? Would I and the rest of the people that lost our jobs without notic
Games Don't Need DiversityTo put it simply, people who play games don't view the player character as a separate person, but an extension of themselves as the player. Players generally care more about what a character can do rather than their demographics. The only people who seem obsessed with having a player character who is like them are SJWs, not people who normally play games because they enjoy them.Games Don't Need Diversity9 months ago in Personal More Like This

How to get better at artPeople keep asking me what programs i use, and what program is the best for drawing and what brushes i used for this artwork or that. Those are legitimate questions, sure, but not entirely accurate. There are differences between programs and brushes, but in the end, they are all tools. They are tools artists use to put their imagination onto a canvas. Just like a traditional artist can use 10 different brushes to paint an artwork, or just one single brush, digital art is the same in that regard. There is no one brush that can achieve an effect that none other can. Sure it's a little more difficult if you're using one brush type to draw everything, but not impossible. Artists might have hundreds of brushes in Photoshop but in truth, we use 2-5 brushes the most and those hundreds only in special cases. I personally use a hard brush and a soft brush for 90% of things, what i do change is the opacity and turn the pressure on and off, change the size etc.How to get better at art1 year ago in Deviant Events More Like This

Being an ArtistSometimes when I talk to some friends here and I see their works I admire the fact of how expressive some of them can be. Sometimes I told them "You're more artist than me" and to me is true. I say that 'cause many people forget how beauty can be a face and they just want to catch the personality. I like that a lot. Sometimes I'm not able to do that even if I can get realistic portraits. I'm still finding my way in art.Being an Artist4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Maybe other people is more expressive and I can't get still what I'm searching for, but I really try to put my heart there, time, hands, eyes, brain, health, etc. All of my drawings have a meaning and in general there is a sense and all of them explain my life, my present, past and future even if they are commissions.
I try to express how much I appreciate the person or objects I'm drawing. Literally I'm an artist 'cuz I make use of a "technique" but I know the way is long to get that name deeply.
I've been working in a hard commission and the draw

In this season of deceits deceptions & witcheries
I am wary of my following message not being received with the full gravity it deserves. It is not my intention to unduly alarm the deviantART community, but... LaurenKitsune is at this time unaccounted for. All attempts on our part to contact her have failed. Before going dark, LaurenKitsune was good enough to write and transmit a report on the Slender Man phenomenon sweeping the Internet. That report is published here fo
Art and talentDear, deviantart fellow artistsArt and talent11 months ago in Deviant Events More Like This
It is believed that talent is that "magical" ability that some people are born with. But sometimes, just being talented isn't enough, without hard work and persistence you won't go far.
Here are some of my thoughts about the topic and I hope that they might be helpful.
We all start from somewhere.
(That's why I also don't delete my old deviations.)
I never actually thought that I was "talented". About 3 years ago (when I also joined deviantart), I just decided that I want to pursue art as a career. I was really into photography at that time (whole 50 day sunset challenge and such), participated in as many photo contests as I could and went outside to take some photos in coldest winter days.
But then, one day, as I visited local museum there was this local exhibition of photos and there was this old and wise photographer, who said to me that i

The 'Method'I'm often asked if I use a projector, a printed canvas or grid for my paintings. The 'Method'2 years ago in Personal More Like This
To be blunt, the answer is simple 'no'.
I do use several vertical & horizontal lines as the guide to put the object in the right position
only when the canvas is big(over 1m high).
The reason I don't use those technical methods is simple;
I'm an old-fashioned man!
I consider myself more of an old craftsman than an artist in modern-day concept.
For me, practicing and perfecting my craft is as important as creating a good piece of art.
Some people say the process doesn't matter as long as you have a good outcome, but I don't believe that.
I don't feel completely happy with the outcome even though it looks near-perfect if I don't feel that my hard work is involved.
I may work much faster and easier if I use a projector or a printed canvas,
but I'd rather train myself harder and harder to be a more skilled and versatile painter.
After all, you won't need to spend that much money on buying a projector and print
