Church Corruption ($11 million building?)Anyone that knows me here knows I'm pretty private and can be a little weird about my identity. I don't share very much personal information, I enjoy a certain amount of anonymity on the internet. But I'm about to share some things that are very personal, I hope that in itself shows how important I think this issue is.Church Corruption ($11 million building?)2 years ago in Personal More Like This
As much as it may shock some people, I have stated before and am pretty open about the fact that I was once a devoted Christian. At a certain point of my life, I was even pretty radical and possibly a little fundamentalist, I was a 6 day creationist and bible literalist. However, I was always more concerned with Christian ideas of charity, caring for the poor, homeless, widows, and less fortunate. I saw Jesus as a pacifist, not a warmonger, and I put more stock in verses like "love thy neighbor" and "it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven" than

Jane crept throught the abandon house, Her machetes held tightly in her hands. She had a feeling like someone was watching her. She found a couch that she could use as her bed for the night, scince it was going to rain out, and she needed a place to stay. She sat down on the couch, looking at her machetes. A bit of blood covered the blades from her latest killings. She chuckled slightly, setting the blades beside her. Suddenly, a small creek echoed from the back of the house. Jane grabbed her machetes and stood up. "Whoever you are, show yourself!" Slowly, Jane started to move towards the back of the house, her machetes held in front of her, ready to lash out. She opened the door that lead to the back of the house. Nothing was in there. Another creek sounded from upstairs. Jane walked

Offering to the Witching SilenceI stood before the window,Offering to the Witching Silence2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Piece by piece I removed my clothing, with the tall cold pane rising against me
And my warmth began gently seeping into the glass—
I closed my eyes, and let my breath slowly out onto that unrelenting surface—
And the spaces started to change—the dim, forsaken rooms at my back voided and arose into fog, and the barest detectable blue shades from the view at my face swallowed me in, just a bit more
Out there, just out of where my barely open eyelids would allow me to see, the gnarled roots beneath the woodland began to give way to clicking, scratching, twisting claws
There was a voiceless screaming rush, the window sill ripped up and the frame jerked away, I could feel their biting untangling hands, encircling my shoulders and my ribs
My neck threw back, I took another inhale and my throat usurped a different sound….

PART II FRACTAL ART & SONG LYRICS
"I can't figure out if it's the end or beginning..."
1) ART (poetry, song), even though it takes the world as its subject, seems to come from "somewhere else." Its power to create the world anew derives from this.
(This is the paradox that the ancient poets resolved with the notion of the singer's being inspired by a heavenly Muse -- a source of inspiration from a transcendent realm outside ordinary human existence.)
2) POETRY is made of previously-used materials: rhyme and meter, such traditional forms as lyric and ode, such "standard" subjects as love and death and betrayal. So no poem or song is really "new." Yet every REAL poem or song makes the world new nonetheless.
3) The way in w

and there are so many names to describe the one:
and here on deviantART for a long time just BeautifulExperience.
But finally these names all emerge in one, and Beau Cyphre is destined for a romantic revolution with words coming through like melodies:
"Did you ever think about all the things you could do when you're alone? Sure you did, and you know a lot of games to play at your private party.
I think there'll be some of your friends with you right now, and it feels great to celebrate your birthday, but in the end you're alone in the night, and the best of all pleasures come in the dark. I dreamed about these hands tonight, moving in circles and the fingers doing all their little dances, their spins and turns until you get higher and higher.

Traditional Tuesdays #43***WARNING: Viewing these works of art may cause giddiness, elevated heart rates, and happiness in the pants(which could lead to blindness)! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!***Traditional Tuesdays #432 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Now with the warming out of the way, Hi, and welcome to the 43rd edition of Traditional Tuesdays. This week, like all of the other weeks, I'll be featuring fifteen works of art from the Traditional Gallery. Any more than that might and you might loss interest or it could cause your monitor to fail in an explosion of awesomeness. I would feel guilty if that were to happen, so I'm keeping it at fifteen! The Traditional gallery is a vast storeroom of work that covers many mediums and genres. I've tried to show a diverse array of artwork, but I don't have room for them all. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!

9 reasons to appreciate ACRYLICS1. UNIVERSALITY - Acrylic are probably the most versatile of paints. You can thin them with water and use as watercolor (they will remain permanent upon drying, unlike watercolor), apply them in full strength, create textures.9 reasons to appreciate ACRYLICS2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
2. COMBINABLE - This medium is very suitable to be combined with anything you wish - watercolor, ink, pencils, oils... Free your imagination and experiment!
3. NUMEROUS SUITABLE SURFACES - Acrylics can be used on paper, canvas, wood, metal and many more surfaces (this is true, even though they don't adhere towards some surfaces as promptly as oils). This is a great advantage, when you get used to this medium, you can paint at whatever material you've got available.
4. DON'T STINK - That's right, all of you that have experienced headaches caused by oil paint might just appreciate an acrylic vacation!
5. FAST DRYING TIME - Composition doesn't seem right after you put down your first layer? This is not a problem, wait half an hour

Writing For Fun and ProfitSlogging through a sea of words, trying to catch a fewWriting For Fun and Profit7 months ago in Personal More Like This
To put into order, to say something of import
It’s like trying to catch fish with your hands
In the Dead Sea, walking on stilts
(pause for mad laughter in the darkness)
Your brain aflame you have to fill this net of need
This passion to communicate the contents of your soul
Maybe not so much for others, but for yourself
It’s not your drug of choice, but still a drug
(tap, tap, tap… backspace, backspace, backspace)
The windows have all been painted black with falling stars
No, it’s night, and they really are falling like snow
And all you can think of is all the things left unsaid
How little it all means in the end
(footsteps walking, door closing, silence…)

Photograph or Pencil Drawing - you decide...First of all I do not claim to be a 'hyper-realism' artist, I am someone who just enjoys drawing, and if what I draw looks a little like the reference I am using then great - I do not draw a pixel at a time, I make long sweeping pencil strokes, layer over lighter work, erase like crazy and basically have fun. In most cases you can still see pencil strokes, un-blended areas of graphite, and lots of mistakes - but to me that what drawing is all aboutPhotograph or Pencil Drawing - you decide...3 weeks ago in Art Features More Like This
One of the ways I try to improve my work is to compare what I have drawn with the reference image I used to create it, it can be a fun way of seeing just how close - or how far away from the original you have got - I thought I would share a couple of examples with you.
I find placing the drawn picture next to the photograph, cropping them the same and adjusting the tone, contrast and exposure you can see just how close you can get to the original.
Most people think that all pen

You pause breifly and re-read the note in your hand. Everyone looks at Gamzee who stands with his stupid smile and walks towards you. He puts his hand out to you and you blush lightly. Rose pushes you up and into him. You look back at her and growl.
Gamzee takes your hand and walks you toward the closet. Everyone giggles at your blushing foolish face. "Remember 7 minutes." Dave says. When you and Gamzee are in the closet the door closes and everything goes dark.
Your eyes dialate and you realize Gamzee is staring at you. You blush more. "W-What?" You ask. "NoThEn." He says. He sits against the wall and you stand with your arms crossed. Gamzee grabs your hand and pulls you down next to him. You growl at him and loook away. "Yo MaN wHaT's ThE mAtTeR? HoNk HoNk." He says. "Nothing." You say.
