Providing Stock+Resources - A Beginners Guide Pt01The following five part guide is a collection of tips and tricks for stockers and those who would like to become stockers but don't know where to start - based on my personal experence. While reading, keep in mind that most of what is outlined below are guidelines and not a set of rules you never ever cross - there are exception to everything but the very first rule (I would say copyright is not debatable, after all, you expect others to respect yours, too). Also, this has gotten very long and still, I feel I forgot stuff... So if you have any additions you'd like to see in here, feel free to comment!Providing Stock+Resources - A Beginners Guide Pt012 months ago in Art Features More Like This

New Rules, and Submissions Re-OpenedWe indeed made it back, my members! And with a shiny new set of rules.New Rules, and Submissions Re-Opened3 years ago in Personal More Like This
It actually shines lots, but is quite short, so please be sure to read them before submitting. (:
The rules for GALLERY submissions are these:
We don't accept WIPs. Only finished works, please, no half-coloured pictures.
We don't accept excessively mature or explicit deviations, we want our Group to be age-friendly and not everyone knows what a Mature Content filter is, nor cares about turning it on.
When submitting a story/comic divided into chapters, please be sure to submit the first chapter (or prologue) into the gallery folder „Prologues“. Any other chapters should be submitted to the folder „Excerpts“.
The submission limit will be set to one (1) per week (given that we are one thousand lefties in here already!), so choose your works wisely.
We only accept works you have done YOURSELF! Please be

Design a Zombie CompetitionWe are working on a new project, one that is in full swing as we speak. We are creating a series of toys, well, models to be more precise. ZOMBIES! We have a set of 5 being sculpted as we speak. But we are creating 5 more, 5 designed by you. You'll be accredited for your work on the base of the model, as well as on the models' box. It's a very good way of getting something great on your portfolio and you'll get your design fully cast and sent to you to go with your portfolio.Design a Zombie Competition9 months ago in Personal More Like This
OKAY – So what's the deal, what do we want?
The image attached are the proportions we want, it's not quite CHIBBI proportions – as an example, look up the artwork for "Super puzzle Fighter" – many Street Fighter enthusiasts will know where we are going with this. Okay, so those are the proportions we want – what about the rest?
Imagine the most twisted zombie you can think of and that's what we want, but in a semi-cute fashion. Recently, in the latest episode i

New deviantART Thumbnails
This feature will be rolled out to everyone over the next few days.
DeviantART's thumbnail images just got bigger and better! Starting today, we've increased the size of deviantART's thumbnails and, by popular demand from the community, we're also giving you a "Thumbnail Grid" mode.
Here's a run-down of what's changed:
We've made all thumbnails bigger!
Deviations display in tidier rows with no unnecessary cropping, allowing you to see the art as it's meant to be seen!
For literature thumbnails, the background has been lightened and

OK so here with go with our 'Draw-A-Long' feature, today we will look at what materials I will use create the drawing. I have to underline that these are the tools that I will use. You may be able to get better results with different more or less pencils or a different grade paper – but these are what I will be using
Some of the materials are standard tools that should be in everyone's pencil case – others are not so – in particular the finer pencil eraser. I cannot recommend these enough, I tend to erase as much as I draw, not because of mistakes, but as a way of obtaining textures and blends – so please if you want to follow this series please try and hunt down one of these. The only other piece that may be unusual to you is the Tortillion – these are tightly rolled sticks of paper and are again an essential item to me – mine do not usually look this clean and having one side which is blackened with graphite is e

Creating a CLICKABLE link to my image in your description. This is not negotiable.
When I say link to my image, I don't mean link to my profile, that doesn't help people find stocks.

If you cannot find the stock you used to make a clickable link, I will provide you with a link.

I will be very upset if I find out that my stock hasn't been credited.

Fantastic Stock and Where to find it - Feature 5 Ive been making a collection of some of the brilliant stock artists works that I have come across. It started off as stock I cant provide myself so I look for other peoples so I can suggest them. New Koi Ponds for Etsy!I've just finished up three ponds I'll be putting up on Etsy sometime on Friday once the resin is completely set. These will range from $20 for the small, $25 for the medium, and $40 for the largest. I'll post a link to the listings once they're up. This will be the only chance to buy some, since I won't have time to make more for Etsy until April when I don't have any shows to attend.New Koi Ponds for Etsy!6 months ago in Personal More Like This
Speaking of fish:
My goldfish have devised a way to get my attention 100% of the time. Before they used to push the river rock around the bottom of their tank so it'd make this really loud clacking noise. This didn't work most of the time. So Mirin (the larger of the two) found something that worked better.
He's figured out how to free the bubble wand in the tank by bumping into the suction cups that hold it down. Once it's free, it makes this really loud, high pitched noise that drives me crazy. I'm usually at the tank a minute later, up to my armpit in cold water to smoosh the wand back into place,
TGWTG, the Spoony One, and Lupa...People think that my opinion may not matter. That I am nobody. Well, that won't stop me from voicing my opinion. Just because I'm not famous on the internet, doesn't mean that my opinion means any less than someone who is well known on the internet.TGWTG, the Spoony One, and Lupa...2 years ago in Personal More Like This
ON WITH THE NOVEL!
When I read about the controversy surrounding Noah Antwiler and ThatGuyWiththeGlasses.com, I have to say, I am seriously disgusted with the actions of the members of this website. I am disgusted as a woman, a fan, a viewer, and fellow Opinionated Jackass...which was my nickname before I became the Angry Engineer in the Navy. Needless to say, the actions of those involved are most disappointing. Many of the members of TGWTG website are about my age, and I have witnessed idiocy on some seriously ignorant levels, but when you are voluntarily stepping forward to be a 30+ year old idiot on the internet, you are just asking to be discredited.
Granted, many of them started out as fledgling reviewers with no allied goal other tha
How to Get PointsOkay, so I know it's hard to get points for those of us who don't have access to a credit card. So I decided to write some tips. How to Get Points2 years ago in Personal More Like This
The Llama Trade
I'm going to guess that most of you know of this by now. Here's how you can get easy points. All you have to do is give a llama!http://kittybrambleclaw989.deviantart.com/art/Trade-llamas-for-points-211508808 This link will show you how the trade works very simply.
Seriously, ask some people! The best donators- sometimes- usually aren't that big on announcing it. Like they're not going to just waltz around expressing their love for giving hundreds of points. So poke around. And don't harass them! If you're lucky and you get a few hundred, don't come back to their page the next day demanding for more! That's just being rude, and getting stamped as an annoying deviant prone to begging.
There are so many groups you can join! Writers can join Literature for points, and artists- well, they are too many g
The Sci-Fi Paintings of Alex KimI came across Alex Kim (~FotoN-3) a while ago and was blown away by his work. Friendships Will EndDepressing title, I know. Don't worry, though. This is an advice/uplifting journal. It's meant to be, anyway. But, usually, when people note me asking for advice or asking to talk because they're down, it often has something to do with them being sad because friends left them or won't talk to them anymore. Well...let me tell you something.Friendships Will End2 weeks ago in Personal More Like This
That's going to happen, guys. Friends are going to come and go. Friendships come into your life for a reason, some for a season, and some for a lifetime. I know it can really suck, too, when they just up and abandon you without warning. It's like, how can you say you're my friend if you just go away? I know that hurts, because it's happened to me so many times. And it's not always just with friendships either. Romantic relationships, family relationships, all of it. Sometimes people just drift apart, and we have to learn to deal with this, no matter how sad or angry we get.
And then there are the 'friends' who just screw you over becau

So you wanna be a Graphic novel artist?So... you want to be a comic artist? So you wanna be a Graphic novel artist?6 years ago in Art Features More Like This
heres a handy but totally disorganised load of information on the subject
possibly the most useful guide in existance
and its FULL of links...
some of them are quite old and may not exist anymore but there are so many i cannot be bothered sorting them out
*dn't awww at me you should know how lazy I am*
Panelling and Planning
-Drawing : Panels, shading, angles, techniques, and so forth:
1) Plan your comic out carefully first- just do a few scribbles on what is happening in your comic (are they talking? Any action?)
2) If you're not "good" at drawing people/animals/whatever, get a book on anatomy, watch anime/read manga to get a fair idea on what things should look like- PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT.
3) Camera angles: watch tv/movies/read manga to see how the camera is featured: Is it close-up? Birds eye view? Front on?
-Drawing : Panels, shading, angels, techniques, and so forth
Time and Pacing
The smaller the gutter, the shorter amount of time is taken up
