Basically, I'm making a papercraft of Valoo, from his SSBB trophy.
So far I've edited and simplified the model, unfolded and done the head. The mouth and especially the spiky teeth like parts were pretty tricky, but from here on in it should all get easier! (apart from the tail).
I'm using 210gsm paper, and I think that was a good choice. It's not too difficult to fold, and it holds its shape well. I'm also trying edge colouring, but I'm not so happy about the results... Basically, the colours of my markers don't match the colours of the textures at all... Is this how it's meant to be, or am I supposed to buy 100 shades of red? :/
A build I'm quite proud of, as it also won me a contest!
The whole designing and building process took around two months; one month editing and unfolding, and the second building. Annoyingly enough, I had to restart his legs six times due to mistakes made by experimentation... I also had to put off some important homework until the last minute. It was totally worth it, though.
Thanks to everyone who dropped a comment/fave on my picture of Twili Midna! Everyone who faved is getting a llama. Yes, everyone! Eventually. I've been neglecting my messages from laziness, but I will get back to everyone!
So, this is a relatively poor quality gif of the papercraft spinning 360°, these things are harder than I thought! Most of the photos I took ended up useless, and all of them were out of alignment. But, hopefully this should give you a better idea of what the thing looks like in 3D.
Also gifs not allowed in folding & papercraft? Whyyy? WHERE AM I MEANT TO PUT THIS? :U
I am very happy with this template - it actually stands, without the aid of the right fin! To make sure it wouldn't fall, I added some weight inside his feet. Not an easy build - thin arms, fins, small teeth and spikes - but a very fun one.
He looks amazing, watching from the top of a shelf ^^
