I Will Not Sell OutI will not draw pokemon just because I want to milk favorites.I Will Not Sell Out3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I will not upload every fucking thing I do just because I want to milk pageviews.
I will not change my DeviantART name just to prove my worth to myself.
I will not leave DeviantART just to get watchers on another blog or site, and then come back claiming DA is forgiven.
If I ever leave, I will not do it because I'm ashamed of the DeviantART community, not including those who actually love art. I will do it because I want or need to leave.
I will not categorize my art into a separate category just to get on the front page.
I won't take trades just to make other people happy.
I will not open up commissions just so people can pay me way less than what my art is worth.
I will draw what I want, upload what I want, comment on what I want, and stay on DeviantART as long as I want. Because it is what I want to do, NOT what the community wants me to do.
Illustration Contest Mark II (One week to go!)4.23 The deadline approacheth! For those of you still working on your entries, better get a move on!Illustration Contest Mark II (One week to go!)4 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
This was such a success last year that I'm doing it again for my 25th birthday!
Pick your favorite story from the list below and draw a scene or characters from it! I try to be diverse in my writing; Action, drama, science fiction, romance, humans, robots... There should be something in there for everybody. This year's pool has some old classics and some new favorites. Some characters have reference pictures already, but some have never been visually depicted before. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Some stories contain characters that belong to other people but feel free to draw them as well. You may enter as many times as you like.
Fanart Used to Save CommunityI enjoy the TV show Community. A lot. However, what I enjoy most about this show is the story and, well, community behind it. When the show went on a sudden hiatus, I couldn't help but be inspired by how Community fans harnessed the power of the arts not only to cope, but help save the show.Fanart Used to Save Community3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Last year, NBC announced Community would be put on hiatus for an unspecified amount of time, causing an outrage in the show's fan base. Once the announcement was made, fans took to social media to complain. This is a relatively normal response in this day and age, but strangely enough, the outrage didn't wane. In fact, it only strengthened as the final episode for the mid-season approached, and the looming uncertainty as to the show's fate became a reality.
Flash mobs were formed. Targeted campaigns were organized to urge Community's advertisers to continue support for the show. And, most relevant of

Challenge 4: Yellow - TOP 5Dear all friends,Challenge 4: Yellow - TOP 53 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Sorry for late result but we have more entries this time, and even more amazing works .
With a lot of entries therefore it took me while to choose top 5. This time, so many good entries with great concepts. It's really hard for me to pick 5 only.
I don't pick the top 5 base on drawing skills only but also the concept of their entries. But there were more than 20 entries I want to pick as winners :C. But don't worry, we will have more challenges in future.
I think there are too many good entries, top 5 are not enough actually. We call it top 5 but actually I think there are at least top 20 or more, since this time, so so many lovely entries . How about giving out top 10 in next challenge (when we have enough point again, yes). People will get 100 points each, less points but more people who will get it. How do you think about it? Because I think actually this is not a contest, it's just a little challenge for fun and a reason to draw more, practice mo

DMD Counter-Attackmy watchers will certainly notice that I uploaded many drawings in these 2 last days. and some may be wondering why. here is my reply:DMD Counter-Attack3 years ago in Personal More Like This
One day in 2010, while I was browsing DeviantArt, I faced a very shocking drawing, it was supposed to represent the prophet Mohammed -peace be upon him- but the one who drew it made sure to make his drawing incredibly dark, disgusting and super offending. I had never seen such a horrible drawing before and it left me speechless, in a negative way. At that time, I clicked the "report" button to report the drawing to DeviantArt admins as 'hate art'. after a few days, I got a reply stating that they do not see it as hate art. so they won't take any actions. it was upsetting to realize that some people don't care about others' feelings. and they choose offending and insulting ways to express their freedom. which is totally opposite to what I learned from the teachings of my religion. in Islam, we are taught to express our opinions without trying to delibera

i went to my Independent Research: Drawing class, which i signed up for late. so i didn't know quite what to expect, having not been to class yet. the only thing my professor told me to bring to class was a drawing i'd worked on or completed lately...
do you realize how vague that is? my mind went into overdrive. should i bring a large one that was more conceptual? should i grab a still-life? a comic? i was losing it. but then my dad, who is good friend with my professor, having been a grad student under his teaching, tells me to show my professor what i LIKE to do.
thus, i take the Hunger Games drawing i've been coloring, and a completed Blaire design.
i was so embarrassed when i showed him my cartoons, that i started rambling about how i'd like to go into animation, and he stops me. he asks me what materials i need to do that. i kinda freeze, cause i wasn't anticipating that at all. but then i spit out that i hadn't thought about anything spec

The Neglected Importance of the Online CommunityWhat is the Worldwide Online Community? The Neglected Importance of the Online Community3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
The Worldwide Online Community is simply a group of people from a wide variety of countries and continents who come together to share their skills, experience, and/or love for a subject. Online communities are a fairly new faction and are not fully understood, their importance is neglected and may not reach their full potential until the next generation incorporates them more and more. It wasn't until the '90s that the Internet or World Wide Web really became a part of the culture, but in less then 20 years its impact has changed society from top to bottom.
In order to really delve into the importance of the worldwide online community, one must first define what it is. There are hundreds of different definitions of what an online community is, but this statement is generally accepted throughout these definitions.
Worldwide online communities are groups of people who join together on the Internet with a common int

hey everyone! i've been getting a LOT of questions lately about brushes - which ones i use, where i downloaded them, etc. because of this i updated my f.a.q with this link: http://loish.net/deviantart/resources/brushes_small.jpg it shows which brushes i use, what the settings are and examples of how i use them.
although i understand that people are curious and want to learn about other people's techniques, i am often surprised that people don't look at the resources they already have (the brushes already installed in the program for example). lots of people are always looking for some kind of 'magic trick' to achieve a certain thing and jump on tutorials, brushes and other resources as if that alone will

Indonesia Cultures Aside From JavaFirstly, happy independence day to IndonesiaIndonesia Cultures Aside From Java1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Secondly, I apologize to my brothers and sisters in Indonesia for not including some of your cultures in Maaf story. I confess, there are many nation characters in Maaf and with limited screentime for Indonesia herself, I conviniently just picked few Indonesian cultures and history to be fitted to the storyline namely Sunda, Java, Bali, Bugis, Maluku, Aceh and Minangkabau.
From what I talked with some Indonesian Maaf readers, they are disappointed that I didnt include their culture and history to Maaf, such as Papua, Dayak, Minahasa, Bima, etc. I know realized how unfair I was to other Indonesian cultures. Every Indonesian cultures are struggling to survive and to be recognize in this era. It will be disrespectful of me to not include them in Maaf and let them share their tales as well. Some view that the story become Java-Bali oriented, and I would like to avoid that. I'd like to fix this and dedicated chapter 10 to focuss on Indonesia c
Intrigue Behind the English DictionariesColor vs. ColourIntrigue Behind the English Dictionaries3 years ago in Literature Features More Like This
On an international site such as dA, you often run across cute debates about whether to use an extra "u" or whether it is apologize or apologise. Few people know that this debate was once an international hot button issue between the US and Britain. Noah Webster started compiling An American Dictionary of the English Language in 1807. Eighteen years later he published the most comprehensive overhaul of the American English language. To research the etymology of words, Webster learned over twenty foreign languages, including Arabic and Sanskrit.
Webster chose to revise many of the traditional British English spellings, thinking them too complicated. He dropped the 'u' from words like colour and revised centre and theatre to end in -er. Webster felt that these changes were necessary to help further establish the United States as a

I was working professionally when I didn't know what I was doing. I acted like an extrovert when I was an introvert. I acted like a businessperson when I hadn't made a dime. I acted like a marketer when I hadn't sold anything.

those shows were actually alot more different than i was expecting!

I noticed a strange effect tho, across the whole franchise, that there was this wave of interest across a season
like a heart beat monitor, that would keep beeping bigger and bigger until you got blood-bended and died
When i started Airbender, I was still in my hesitation mode, so part of was maybe trying not to like it i think
