The HoundI first read the story "The Hound" by H.P. Lovecraft, when I was a teenager in high school… probably around 1988 or so. What a great little horror story. It was very short, but it had graverobbers, an underground Museum of Death, a cool monster, and some really gory violence. Even on my first reading, "The Hound" made a very strong impression on me. Right then and there, I decided that someday, somehow, I had to draw this story as a comic book. For years this was one of those hopeful, secret "dream projects" brewing in the back of my slimy green brain. The Hound7 months ago in Personal More Like This
23 years later, I finally got my chance.
In 2011 a European publisher (SelfMade Hero) hired me to illustrate a comic book adaptation of "The Hound" for a book called "The H.P. Lovecraft Comic Anthology Volume 2".
SMH hooked me up with Chad Fifer (who is not only a great writer but also the co-host of the excellent "HP Podcraft" show). Chad really understands Lovecraft, and did an amazing job of adapting the original story into an efficie

One Reason....... why I try not to comment about people's weight. One Reason...8 months ago in Personal More Like This
I used to attend a particular conference on an annual basis, and so I got to (casually) know the other "regulars" who also used to be there. Every year, more or less, I'd see the same group of people at the speakers' dinner, and we could catch up on the usual "what are you up to these days?" kind of stuff. One of the guys I used to see fairly often was a tall heavy-set fellow (some might call him "fat" or "obese") he'd always been tall, bearded, and big, to me. But one year, he showed up and he had lost a lot of weight. It took me a second to recognize him, and I said, "Hey, Rich! You look great! You've lost a lot of weight!" and he looked at me and deadpanned, "Yeah, pancreatic cancer will do that."
Do I need to belabor the point? I will. First off, I set myself up for a massive head-fuck, by making assumptions about what was going on in someone else's life, and - even though I was being friendly about it - I was horribly wro

Liquid CLEAR KatoI recently got my hands on a big bottle of liquid Kato brand clay and it is said to bake clear. I tried out a few things and I am glad to report it does bake clear.
At first glance: This product is much more liquid like than either Fimo or Sculpey's translucent liquid clays. If you aren't careful it will run all over the place. It has the cons

Jackson's latest trilogy: The Hobbit – An Unexpected Journey. It is
a week since it came out, so many reviews have been written, but I'll
post my two cents here.
A Review: The Hobbit – An Unexpected
Pretty, pretty Middle-Earth!
First and foremost, it was a beautiful movie albeit a tad lengthy. (The 3D didn't do much for me – it wasn't distracting, but it didn't really contribute that much – and I'm not sure whether the frame rate changed anything.) The things that really made it beautiful were Howard Shore's splendid soundtrack, the landscapes and the work of the concept artists. The Shire looked lovely and Rivendell was beautiful as always, though we did get a better glimpse of it than we did in LotR. But the new sets – Dale, Ereborn in its old glory, Mirkwood – were amazing. When the aerial camera panned down on Dale before its destruction, my jaw almos

Sorry it’s been so long since the last one, I’m so busy at work at the moment, but this article is a extra large one! We are highlighting some very special art added to the group since the last features, 53 beautiful works as selected by the admins. Remember to the article if you like it and to give the artists some ’s!
Also, thanks to everyone (an amazing 712 of you!) who voted in the poll to ask about our submissions volumes. The majority of you (57%) said that things are either just right, or you’d be happy with even more submissions, so we aren’t making significant changes at this time. We will try to tighten up on enforcing our rules (note to admins: 'mature' deviations and photography is NOT allowed!!) and we will also try to reject the very lowest in quality, but be assured we will not become an elitist group or have excessively hi

BullyingI hear much about 'bullying', actually It happened always since human being is human being. It's not a new thing. And the problem is the same: lack of charity. But Society wanna find solutions in many ways, but if you talk about charity people think you're talking about religion or moral, and they treat you as an idiot.Bullying10 months ago in Personal More Like This
Charity seems an utopian thing for our society. Charity seems a stupid thing. But that "stupid thing" is what gives beauty to our actions, is what stops any intention of bullying.
