What inspired me to take up art.
I couldn't say I can not remember a time when I wasn't drawing. As a child my sisters wanted Barbies I wanted art supplies. So I suppose I was born an artist. What kept me drawing were my interests. I drew what I loved horses and animals. And whatever had my interest at the time Swords and Fantasy Artherian legend. I have always drawn what I wanted.
What materials do you use and recommend
I am a pencil artist and draw on paper. I have done ink work and will be doing more of that soon. I also use coloured pencil and chalk pencil. What I recommend is difficult to say. Paper I buy by feel. I don't really care about a brand or manufacturer. I want acid free and something that feels right, IChrisravensar Artist Interview3 months ago in Personal

When less is MoreLife has been nice and slow for me lately. Maybe the pace of life is making me look at artwork a new way. I am finding work that has more form and figure than colors lately on my favs list. Some of the work featured are examples of Minimalism at it's best. Others are work that just have a wonderful look, they are maybe only two or three colors with great framing. I hope you like the features. Have a great week!

Welcome to the first contest of 2013 for the group! Since the last contest of 2012 went down well as it was mixed medias - we're going to let you enter with whatever type of Art you like. So you can enter Fractal, Photography, Digital Art or Traditional. The aim of this contest is to have a theme of Abstract Shapes within your work. Your work will be declined if it doesn't reflect this, so be sure to make the theme obvious in your piece of work! We're also opening up all of our folders again, so enjoy submitting your work once more!
Rules

Entries must be NEW i.e created on or after 1st January 2013

Entries must be Abstract and must have a theme of 'Shapes' with minimal manipulation. Black and white is allowed.

You do need to be a group member to participate!

New idea on a story.I watched as, Aela the Huntress carefully sheathed her bow. After a night on the hunt it was blatant she was writhing with back aches. She should have shifted to her lycan form I thought but who am I to criticize her technique. I gulped bile as her fawn hair spun as her head came to look at me.

"Are you just going to stand their with your eyes a gape or are ya gonna help me with this?" Aela cut her eyes at me, to the point I backed up.

Confidence DropThis is gonna be a short journal entry, but I'm just curious if others have this problem. I don't know about everyone else, but I get very disappointed when I post art and it gets 0 favs or comments. When I think I have a great piece of literature or art my confidence level is high, but then I post it and no one favs or comments. DA BOOTS.This is going to be a very quick, very sparse general tutorial to a lot of questions I've gotten about the long fall boots for my Portal 2 Chell cosplay.
Basically they are welded steel. Eight pieces per boot to be exact. I got some pictures of the process, they're not the most helpful but if there's enough of a want for it I'll post some sort of tutorial. Though it seems a little pointless since so far all the personal messages I've gotten, the process couldn't be used by those asking. D:
I found a boot, I chopped up the boots, mainly the toe and the front part and sides. With my brother's help, together we welded a u-shaped frame for my upper calf. From this we had straight pieces going down either side of my calf (inner and outter) and then hooking around the bottom with more pieces of metal. This provided a hook around my heel that would support my weight much like a high heel shoe. My Story about Depression, Suicide and AnxietyI don't really know why I am writing this, or why I have the sudden urge to post this on Deviantart where everyone can see. Maybe it's because I don't know another way to express my thoughts right now. Maybe its because I've never written down my situation in words and I feel that this is the time. Maybe it's because I hope someone out there reads this and understands what I'm going through.
Depression. It's a word that many people have heard of, but only a select few know what it feels like to have it inside you. Depression, for me, is compared to the feeling of knives just about to plunge into your heart. You are constantly living in fear that death will be upon you if you even move a single inch. You are stuck in place, unable to move, unable to get help. You think nobody understands.
