COSPLAY MAKEUP TUTORIAL!Hi guys!! Thank you as always to all watchers and everyone who faves and comments - I'm so sorry I don't have much time these days to reply to everything, but I definitely do read and appreciate them all!COSPLAY MAKEUP TUTORIAL!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I've been asked so many times I've lost count to put together a makeup tutorial on how I do my cos makeup - and I finally did it!
I hope this is a little helpful, although some disclaimers - I have Caucasian features, so my makeup will be very different to someone with a different face shape. I use a lot of eyemakeup, much more than a lot of people, just because I do lol. My eyes a pretty big naturally, so I line them right up the edge, as opposed to widening the eye by drawing further out. A few things like that to bear in mind ^_^ That said, hope you enjoy! *chu*
Any questions please feel free to ask!

Free! Iwatobi Swim Club cosplay shoot outtakes! When my friends and I first heard of "that swimming anime" called Free!, this is pretty much what we expected:Free! Iwatobi Swim Club cosplay shoot outtakes!1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Not that there's anything wrong with that hahah, but all we were expecting was to be able to laugh at how exploitable and full of fanservice this show could be because swimming would require everyone to be half-naked. Although it started out that way, the more episodes we watched, the more we realized...
We were wrong. So wrong.
What we got was a heartwarming coming-of-age story with endearing characters and interesting dynamics. It spoke of friendship and learning your self-worth and figuring out what drives you forward.
I'd write more about how I feel about it but it would take up too much time and space over here, so here are a couple of posts that have already done the job well:
1. A detailed literary analysis and trope driven deconstruction of H

dA adds new CSS attributes Skinners! Must read!Okay, as per the latest dA site update found here. CSS coders are now allowed to use 3 more properties to rock their journal skins.dA adds new CSS attributes Skinners! Must read!3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
The properties are:
Lets see what can we do with these new fancy stuffs!
What does these attributes do?
1) content--> it is used to insert generated content in your HTML (Journal body for DA). Don't worry, don't worry! I'll tell you what is this "generated" content!
2) counter-increment --> it is used to insert numbers (or counters) to sections or sub-sections. I'll explain what "sections" and "sub-sections" are don't worry again!
3) counter-reset --> it is used to reset the counters
All these 3 properties are generally interlinked and are used together. But the "content" property can be used alone and has some cool usage.

What Am I Talking About?
What is the difference between an embedded deviation and a deviant thumb? Glad you asked. The thumbs have the codes everyone already knows and loves. And if you don't know what I'm on about, then look on the sidebar of your deviation and you will find your thumbcode. These codes can be used in journals, widgets and artist descriptions to link a thumbnail of the deviation.

How Malware Works Via Banner Ads
As many deviants know, deviantART has been working hard to combat malicious banner ads that infiltrate
our advertising network, and we've previously addressed this issue in
and August 2011.
In our ongoing effort to keep the deviantART community safe, we wanted to share the following
video that explains how malicious ads inundate the Web.
How Malicous Ads Inundate the Web

Malware advertising is an Internet-wide problem that affects many of the Net's top sites.
Fantastic Stock and Where to Find It - Feature 23I've been making a collection of some of the brilliant stock artistsFantastic Stock and Where to Find It - Feature 232 years ago in Art Features More Like This
works that I have come across. It started off as stock I can't provide
myself so I look for other peoples so I can suggest them. The way I
choose is quite odd, when I see a stock image I have an instant image in
my head of what I could do or create out of that piece of stock. The
image also has to be crystal clear and easily altered.
Anyway, Check them out, I'm sure you'll agree, just click on their deviation.

What is considered copyright infringement?Due to the growing concern...I have had a lot of people ask me what is considered piracy and what isn't. Things to consider is the Millenium Copy Right act and fair use laws. Funny enough a while back I would have liked a law like SOPA because it would hold a site liable for letting its users plagiarize my artwork. E.g a while back a group on Facebook took my work and refused to credit me, I contacted Facebook and they said they would remove the work, then the admins of the page said they would change it to a private setting so I couldn't access the site and see if my work was still being used without my permission. SOPA would have been useful but now I see that with such power as to hold an entire site liable for a bunch of users actions is dangerous because it can be abused. Also how would you feel if someone like me closed down a huge public web site because a few where taking something of mine? I have learned not to care when my stuff is uploaded elsewhere and shared. THE STORY OF THE LLAMA as told by lemontea
August 10, 2005 marks the day that the newly created received its fame. While some people laughed, others went into a panic. Llama Day was a day of mixed emotion for many, but for the few special clowns in #clowntown, it was a hilarious time for the community.
Who would have thought that a 43 x 97 pixel llama could fuel the fires of deviants? Revenge, plotting, outrage, disgust -- these were all things developed on August 10, 2005. This day marks the special journal, which launched the llama emoticon into deviant stardom: The Llama Conspiracy.
Was the llama a tool designed to insult and hurt the community? Was there some master plan behind it all? Would the shoutbox ever be safe again?

How to Stock 1- Setting up a Shooting AreaWelcome to "How to Stock," a new short series of articles on how to do some stock basics. We'll ask the big names in stock for their tips and opinions on how to get the best out of your stock shoot! How to Stock 1- Setting up a Shooting Area2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
For the first article, I asked faestock, Tasastock, and kirilee all about how to set up a shooting area. Let's see what wisdom they have for us!
What are the best kind of lights? How many should I have? What kind of bulbs give the best light?
:iconfaestock: Faestock says:
If you have access to studio lighting then I prefer to use a large Elenchrom soft box. The soft box provides a soft flattering light for most subjects. A direct flash can be harsh, using some kind of filter, like a beauty dish, grate or soft box is better. I would also suggest rigging the stand with wheels so it is easily adjustable, as one inch to the left can make all the difference when you
Stock and Resources: Policy ClarificationThe Stock and Resources community is an integral part of deviantART, both for having an active community of its own as well as providing high quality stock to all deviants.Stock and Resources: Policy Clarification3 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
As this community has grown so much over the years, so has the amount of invalid stock and resources that have been provided by some deviants. The Stock and Resources community feels like this reflects negatively on them, the volunteers have a hard time trying to teach people about valid stock and how to use it correctly, and it gives an appearance that deviantART Staff tolerate so-called “art theft” or copyright infringement.
In this article our aim is to reinforce our policies regarding stock and stock use and clear up some misconceptions.
Stock and Resource submissions to deviantART:
What are Invalid Stock and Resources?
In short, invalid stock or resources are anything which you do not have full permission to upload. This incl

Premium Content: Sellin & Buyin-Important ReadYa ya I know! Some of you know about it now! Read completely to understand..Premium Content: Sellin & Buyin-Important Read3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Now all the premium members can have a small widget like thing in your deviation to directly sell your contents. I know it looks cool to have that cool widget thing displayed in your deviation page. But is it really worth it? Think about it!
Perhaps you've clearly read what it says... 80% revenue shall be transferred to the the seller and rest goes to deviantART! So, why should a seller loose 20% of the revenue if he/she can sell the same content by other means and yet loose nothing? The seller might not loose but then the buyer looses if the seller doesn't.
Let me get into more details with some scenarios and example to make more sense....
Example 1: I want to sell a journal Skin @ 1000pts
Now you may be excited to sell it using the new premium content platform. Right? So, what do you do? You quote 1000pts as

Disclaimer: I'm no lawyer, I do not work for deviantArt, I'm merely someone who has been doing photomanips for quite a while and has taken the time to read quite a few articles on the topic. The views expressed hereunder are mine alone. They do not reflect any "official dA opinion" nor are they to be taken as "legal advice". Furthermore, you may live in a country that hasn't signed any of the treaties that govern international copyright law, so you'd have to check with your country's national laws.
I strongly urge you to not only read the journal, but also the comments underneath it as there are a lot more examples of what you can and can't do as well as more links to information being shared by your fellow deviants!
What is Copyright?
I'll paraphrase/quote the wikipedia article on the topic for this:

PE: Fan Art vs Original ArtFan Art vs. Manga & Anime: The differencesPE: Fan Art vs Original Art2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Many people have come to me in the past with questions regarding whether their work qualified as Manga & Anime or Fan Art, same happened with many Daily Deviations that were placed in the M&A gallery when they should have been submitted to the Fan Art Gallery, oops!
Do you have doubts regarding the submission process? Wonder no more, we'll unveil all the mysteries surrounding the categories! :iconokie2plz:
Fan art includes those artworks that are based on or contain material such as characters, settings, concepts or universes in general that are copyrighted to someone else other than the artist creating said Fan artwork.
Manga and Anime art, on the other hand, is home for all the artworks that artists have created from scratch and are not related to any preexisting universe nor contain any copyrighted material.
