Stock and Resources Nov/Dec RoundupStock updates, HOLIDAYS!Stock and Resources Nov/Dec Roundup1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
So, the holiday season is upon us, and I am writing this from a computer that has been attacked by tinsel and other shiny things that keep distracting me!!
^PirateLotus-Stock and I wish our entire stock and resources community a safe, magical and warm festive season no matter when or how you celebrate! After the recent devastating news of the killings in Connecticut its a hard reminder that family and friends can be swept away from us in the blink of an eye, so cherish them and smother them in love every chance you get. We all know that there are many out there who won't be able to, and we send you our love.
The stock community has been ticking along quite nicely the last month or so which is lovely to see, we really dislike drama affecting the stock & resources galleries and try to head it off where we can! This is a reminder to everyone that we are here to help you, n

Muses of the MastersBeautiful, captivating, inspiring, complicated and often misunderstood - the women who became muses for their masters had more in common with the artists who painted them than might be seen on first glance.Muses of the Masters1 year ago in Art Features More Like This

Elizabeth Siddal 1860 Dante Gabriel Rossetti
Born in 1829 Lizzie was first "discovered" by the artist Walter Deverell in 1849 who had close associations with Dante Gabriel Rossetti. Less than 2 years later, Lizzie was sitting almost exclusively for the jealous Rossetti.
Lizzie's life with the artists of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood was turbulent and complicated, much like her relationship with Rossetti who d

Q 1. The month theme is Illumination. Would you write your point of view on what that means to you?
My point about illumination is: is not enough to be proficient in a perfect cut and finding unique images, if your work missing lighting, it doesn't draw attention.
So, can you tell me: "I don't care to attract people, I make art just for me". Who does art to itself don't publish in public places, but keeps in a folder stored on your own computer. Everyone has the desire to be better and better in your style, whatever it is, and I think all styles require good illumination, for me, this is essential, it's "the soul" of your art.</b>
Q 2. Briefly explain, and explain whatever direction you w
September Vector DDs and Thank YouWhat is Vector Art?September Vector DDs and Thank You1 year ago in Personal More Like This
In digital art there are two layer formats: raster and vector. Raster formats are based in pixels and vector is based in paths and points.
When you resize a raster image, you are expanding the pixels. Your program has to try to estimate what the colours would be for the additional pixels created. Due to this, the image loses it's clarity and creates a pixel effect.
When you resize a vector image, you are increasing the distance between the points. Due to this, the image doesn't lose it's clarity and doesn't pixellate.
The key element of vector is that it's infinitely scalable without any quality loss and it's why we love it!

Project educate - Interview Stela one~stelaone is one of the few street artists that can definitely be said to be beautifying the streets. Her artwork is adorably cute and extremely feminine in comparison to the majority of street art out there today. She is also the founding member of the group #GraffitiGirls, well worth a check.Project educate - Interview Stela one1 year ago in Personal More Like This
What name do you go under, and what are it's origins?
Starchild Stela, because i’m a sort of alien kid.
What form of street art do you make?
I don't know what to answer to this one, since I use different ''Techniques''. I would describe it as some sort of feminist kawaii girl-loving art that I do in the street or on trains. I mostly paint characters even thought I paint cats and random objects sometimes. I never really qualify myself as a street or graffiti artist. I've been doing this for a couple years now, and I think the internalised mysoginy/ho

FAQ Revamp Pt 4: Prints FAQ MergerHi Everyone!!!FAQ Revamp Pt 4: Prints FAQ Merger1 year ago in Personal More Like This
While we didn't get any extra time to focus on updating FAQs this week, we did see a major improvement launch on the Help & FAQ page. We are pleased to announce that the Prints FAQ is no longer separated from the Main FAQ!!! Prior to this change in order to even begin searching for Prints related information you had to click on the Prints section and then you would have the ability to search by keywords for anything related to Prints. To eliminate this problem the Prints FAQ has been merged into the main FAQ system. You can now type in print related keywords into the main FAQ and find all the information you need.
Please note nothing has changed in terms of the organization of the Prints FAQ everything should visually look the same, the only change is that the Main FAQ Search is now able to locate the Prints FAQs.
More updates to come soon

PE Stereoscopy: How to View Stereoscopic 3D ImagesHow to View Stereoscopic 3D ImagesPE Stereoscopy: How to View Stereoscopic 3D Images1 year ago in Personal More Like This
There are three basic methods of viewing the stereograms we have on DeviantArt. There might be other methods which differ slightly, but these are the main ones:
Anaglyph (and other glasses methods)
Viewing stereo images with glasses is great, because because you don't need to squint your eyes or focus in strange ways to see in stereoscopic vision (stereo 3D). Furthermore, anaglyph images are fantastic, because you don't need a special TV or screen, just a pair of anaglyph glasses. These are pretty easy to get, you can find them with some old 3D films, books, or even in some stores. Chances are you might have a pair lying around the house.
Most anaglyph glasses are red on one eye, and cyan on the other, these are the most common for people to own. But there's a whole range of types of anaglyph using different colors. the whole point is to hide part of the image for each eye, so many opposite-colors can work.

Stereoscopy, commonly known as '3-D' is a method of creating an image which creates an illusion of depth. This works by showing a slightly offset picture to your left eye than your right eye, making things appear further forward or back into the picture!
Stereoscopy covers any stereo viewing methods including:
Wiggle (A pair of stereo images which are alternated quickly to give the feeling of depth)
Cross-eyed/Side by Side (here's a great tutorial to help you see them)
Autostereogram (Like Magic Eye)
Etc. (This includes any other method of displaying a stereo image)

Knowing which category to place your work into not only helps you by being correctly placed so that people searching for your type of work can find you, but also helps the Community Volunteers when they are looking for pieces to award a DD to. If your work is in the wrong category, chances are you're missing out on watchers and may also miss out on getting your work chosen for DD features.
So...let's have a look at the different vector categories and what kind of work belongs in each of them, so that you can correctly categories your creations!
Digital Art > Vectors This is the base Vector category. Anything and everything vector can go in here, but wait! There are so many sub-categories so that you can really narrow down which vector category your work belongs in!
