Godzilla - King of the Monsters

Nearly 60 years ago, this legendary monster was born. I was digging in nostalgia of how to do my next art series, and I remember watching Godzilla movies, and I decided "You know what? I will do the Godzilla monsters as my next series." I will even be doing the TriStar American Godzilla, which would be later renamed Zilla, who makes an appearance in Godzilla Final Wars (2004).

Gigan
A fan favorite foe for Godzilla. An unusual monster with metal hooks for hands, and a buzz saw on the torso. Much later, Gigan would have buzz saws for hands in after being repaired from the atomic ray blast from Godzilla in the south pole.

Other appearances by this monster include:
Godzilla vs. Megalon
Godzilla: Final Wars

Ebirah
A giant shrimp monster, which guards an island base. There is nothing unique about this monster, and is considered one of the weakest monsters in the franchise.

Other appearances by this monster include:
Godzilla: Final Wars

Created from pollution, this monster is one of few enemy monsters from the original series to later appear in the millennium movie, "Godzilla: Final Wars". (Overall to “Godzilla vs. Hedorah”, I think it is one of the worst and certainly one of the strangest movies in the series.)

Kamacuras
A giant mantis, alongside other giant mantis, found Godzilla's son. Eventually they were just swatted, like flies. This monster also makes an appearance in "Godzilla: Final Wars", attacking Paris, France and later seen in Manazuru, Japan. In the original series, Kamacurus had a reddish skintone, so I implemented that into the portrait.

Other appearances by this monster include:
Godzilla's Revenge (also known as All Monsters Attack; stock footage)

Kumonga, the giant spider
Attacking Godzilla and Godzilla's son, this monster is pretty basic. It spits web, hardly anything else. Kumonga makes an appearance in "Godzilla: Final Wars", attacking Arizona and later seen in New Guinea.

Other appearances by this monster include:
Godzilla's Revenge (also known as All Monsters Attack; stock footage)

MechaGodzilla
One of the most favorite of Godzilla's foes. Simply, it’s a giant robot form of Godzilla, who started out as a bad guy controlled by space apes, but in the 90's and millennium versions, was created good and operated by humans. The millennium version was referred to as Kiryu.

Other appearances by this monster include:
Terror of MechaGodzilla
Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla II (90's version)
Godzilla Against MechaGodzilla (Millennium version, Kiryu)
Godzilla: Tokyo SOS (Millennium version, Kiryu)

SpaceGodzilla
There are supposedly 2 ways SpaceGodzilla was created. Traditionally, we see Mothra make appearances, along with her twin fairies (voices anyway), and when she flew into space after Battra was dropped with Godzilla, she had Godzilla cells on her, and they apparently were sucked and mutated in a black hole. The other possible theory was that the cells came from Biollante, but the Mothra way is more leaning.

Destoroyah
Also known as Destroyah and Destroyer, this is one of the most powerful foes in the entire franchise. Starting out as a small parasite, this thing began to grow, duplicate, and become more dangerous. Eventually forming into one of the largest monsters in the franchise, doing Godzilla and Godzilla junior in, but it was the army who took Destoroyah down. This monster did not make any further movie appearances. The “Godzilla vs. Destoroyah” film ended the second series, and made junior the new king of the monsters.

Titanosaurus
Created by a mad scientist, this monster battled alongside MechaGodzilla 1 in "Terror of MechaGodzilla", and like Megalon, Titanosaurus did not come to make any further appearances in the Godzilla franchise. This monster, along with the movie itself, was the last new monster of the first Godzilla series. Titanosaurus' special ability is using his tail fin to cause heavy winds.
